00:00Game one in Toronto between the Panthers and the Maple Leafs and the Maple Leafs getting involved a huge first period for Willie Nylander got them off and running and they would hold on at the end on Sportsnet.
00:15I mean, let's give Pacioretty credit.
00:44He has been out forever, tore his Achilles and the guy used to be a badass and he's disappeared from hockey for a couple of years and now he's on this Toronto team making plays, just making plays to Nylander and that was huge to score that quick a goal on home ice in a game one of an Eastern semi.
01:06I think it set the tone for the night.
01:08Then he adds another one.
01:10They blew that lead, but not really.
01:12They never lost it.
01:13They, you know, they were up for one.
01:15Then, you know, it was four, three, blah, blah, blah.
01:17They win it five, four.
01:19They got it done.
01:20That's all that matters.
01:21An enormous win for Toronto.
01:23No doubt about it.
01:24But look, I know you're going to talk about this hit Bennett to the head of the goalie, but here's the deal.
01:30It's not the first hit or last hit of this series.
01:35There's going to be all kinds of bad, dirty hits in this series.
01:38It's going to get mild.
01:39Right.
01:39And, and this is now going to, this is going to really set the table.
01:45There was some chippiness between these two teams two years ago when Florida beat them in the second round and you get this play.
01:52And I, and Maurice said this, I don't have it, but Maurice was like, honestly, I know this is what's going to get everyone fired up.
02:00He thought that there was much dirtier hits on both sides in the game that nobody's talking about today.
02:06But because Stolarz left the game, this is the one that gets discussed.
02:11And that was Sam Bennett getting him with an elbow.
02:13Now, some have said, Scotty, that they think the real problem with Stolarz was he took a, like a slap shot off the dome a couple of minutes before that.
02:22And anything that that probably also factored into, and it was like a little combo meal, that and the elbow going to his head.
02:29Cry me a river.
02:31Either way, here's Craig Berube after the game.
02:35Let's just say that he wasn't thrilled, that no penalty was called.
02:40Craig, what was your view on the Sam Bennett hit on Stolarz?
02:43Elbow to the head.
02:45Yeah.
02:46Clearly.
02:46Yeah.
02:47Clear.
02:48Clear as day.
02:50Were you satisfied with your players' response to that?
02:52Like, did they handle it the way you would like?
02:56Yeah.
02:57I mean.
02:58That would be a no.
02:59I don't know what you.
03:00That's a no.
03:01I mean, I think at the time, I think, you know, we handled it the way we should have.
03:09Mark missed court again.
03:09I'm not sure why.
03:11Wow.
03:12There's not a call on it.
03:15But, you know, I get it.
03:17They missed calls.
03:18But it's clearly a penalty.
03:21Back in the day, just so we're clear, this guy would have killed someone on the ice.
03:30He was such a dirty player that watching him try to be a head coach and be calm and controlled and, I don't know, sophisticated is laughable to me.
03:42Craig Marubi was a ruthless killer and he would have, he would have handled this himself.
03:48If he was on the ice, he would have done it himself last night.
03:51It's not that big of a deal.
03:53Let's calm down.
03:54They won the game.
03:56They act like this guy's dead.
03:58I mean, they act like he's dead.
04:00Like he's, like he killed him.
04:03Like, stop it.
04:04Just stop.
04:05No one ever heard of the kid.
04:06No one ever heard of him.
04:07Now, all of a sudden, he's famous because what?
04:09He's in the hospital.
