Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch has criticised the landmark UK-India trade agreement, labelling it a "double taxation agreement". "It basically encourages workers from India but does not provide the same benefit to UK citizens. This is two-tier taxes," Ms Badenoch said. Report by Kennedyl. 00:00I had this deal on the table when I was Trade Secretary and I refused to sign it
00:04because that double taxation agreement was unfair. It basically encourages
00:09workers from India but does not provide the same benefit to the UK, to two UK
00:15citizens. This is two-tier taxes. It's not right and if this is what they have got
00:21then what have they given away. I'm very worried about what it is we're going to
00:25see in the rest of this trade deal. They are with countries where we have an
00:29equivalent number of people in the UK working in the companies owned by
00:35those countries and vice versa. We have a million Brits working in American
00:39companies. We have a million Americans working in British companies. This is
00:42very lopsided and it's going to cost the UK hundreds of millions of pounds. Like I
00:47said I saw this deal on the table. I didn't like it and I did not sign it.
