00:00A 2-2 draw with struggling Preston North End was enough for Bristol City to secure a play-off spot in the Championship this season. Head coach Liam Manning reacted to the game.
00:11Yeah, huge, huge. I think it's been a tough year, right? I think it's tough but so rewarding.
00:18I think, you know, when you look at a group, what we're about today, I mean, we had the chat before the game.
00:23I mean, irrespective of the outcome, couldn't be more proud of what they've done.
00:26Spoke about our identity and, you know, so much made now in football about styles.
00:30And I think what we spoke about, our identity of, you know, never giving up, fighting, running, competing, doing that side of it.
00:36And, you know, we made it a difficult one, but I'm delighted for the lads. The lads were first class.
00:40You go for every emotion, I think. Probably more, it felt, again, like it was a little bit on us.
00:46You know, the little bits, not quite getting the little bits right, which led to their goals.
00:50And then I thought we then turned it on for sort of 15, 20 minutes and, you know, we showed what we were about.
00:56So I scored some top goals to get back in it. The noise was phenomenal.
01:00The moment at the end, something that will live for me forever.
01:02I think, you know, the memory of that. And that's what today's about, right?
01:05I think it's very much that. It's great to, you know, to obviously finish in the top six.
01:11And following yet another defeat for Bristol Rovers, this time on the final day of the season,
01:17where they lost 4-1 away at Blackpool, managed by Steve Bruce at Bloomfield Road.
01:22The club then confirmed that head coach Inigo Calderon had stepped down from his role following the conclusion of the match and indeed the season.
01:32Then, in a statement posted on X by Calderon himself, he said that it had been an honour and a pleasure to have led the gas during the second half of the season,
01:41citing several of his memorable moments during the campaign, including wins over Bolton Wanderers and Huddersfield Town,
01:49which had saw the gas on a good bit of form, which looked to have kept them in the league at the time.
01:56But, as things turned out, it was not to be, with Rovers ultimately succumbing to relegation.
02:02They will now play their football in League Two next year, hoping to return to England's third tier as soon as possible.
02:09But, crucially, without Calderon in charge.
