As the sunsets on Wrecclesham and the darkness takes over one man heads out to collect the creatures of the night. Everyone has heard of “Batman” but in Farnham we have our very own “Mothman” Dr Martin Angel, 88, Martin spends his summer nights outside with a bright UV light and trap to find and survey the moths of Farnham.
On Wednesday, April 30, Martin was out at St Peter’s Churchyard in Wrecclesham to catch and survey moths once again. His findings were then shown to Wrecclesham cubs the following day to learn about and then release back into the wild.

00:00What's the difference between moths and butterflies?
00:04Yes.
00:05Because I've got a book at home with all the butterflies and insects,
00:08and I can't see anything that clearly...
00:12If you looked at them, you couldn't clearly distinguish
00:16what makes up a moth and what makes up a butterfly.
00:20I mean, I look at something and I say, that's a moth.
00:24Yeah.
00:26And it's really what they kind of look at, but there's no simple solution
00:32to tell you whether it's a moth or a butterfly,
00:36apart from the fact that if it's day flying,
00:40it's more likely to be a butterfly than that.
00:44But there are quite a number of day flying moths.
