00:00Racial politics must not be allowed to take root in Sabah as the unity and harmony in the Bornean state are invaluable assets, says former Chief Minister Saleh Syed Kerouak.

00:13In a Facebook post, Saleh asked why racial issues persisted in West Malaysia after over 60 years of independence, noting that Sabah's communities comprised various ethnicities who lived in harmony and celebrated each other's festivals without hindrances.

00:30The Sabah UMNO treasurer said Sabahans practiced their religions with mutual respect and understanding while interfaith harmony was part of everyday life.

00:40While he acknowledged political differences, he said these were not rooted in race or religion and should not divide Sabahans, adding that supporting different political groups is no reason to end friendships or neighborly ties.

00:52He added that politics in Sabah focuses more on development and people's needs, such as employment opportunities, roads, education, and access to clean water.

01:04The Usukan Assemblyman said the harmony and unity that exists in Sabah are invaluable assets and must be protected and preserved.
