00:00You gonna say Brooklyn Flyer than Harlem?
00:01I'm gonna go with that and I'm gonna stick there.
00:04I'm sticking with that.
00:05That's how we know you're not from Harlem.
00:15Bro, what's the deal?
00:17It's me again, him.
00:19A$AP Rocky, the prettiest motherfucker alive
00:21and we have my final fitting for the Met Gala.
00:23I should've switched my glasses, man.
00:26Should've had the black ones on.
00:27You wanna switch them right now?
00:28Yeah, cuz I feel like this is giving Flava Flav right now.
00:31Yeah, I'm in my element, shout out Ray-Ban and all that.
00:34Yeah, that's pretty, Flago, yeah.
00:37We in my hotel suite right now, my space.
00:39I tend to usually bring my own items that either I designed
00:43or things that I bought from other designers
00:46just to fill in the space because I feel like most hotels,
00:48I don't like their decor.
00:50So what I do is I supply everything for myself
00:52to make it feel like home.
00:53This is my cactus right here.
00:56This is a cactus cover that we selling.
00:58It's a collaboration between my brand Omade and Goof Room,
01:02the legendary brand.
01:03It's a Puma tool bag right here that I designed
01:05because a good friend of mine's, he gave me a tool bag
01:08and he said, this is necessary for a dad.
01:10So I felt like all dads, all moms, and all people alike
01:14should have this tool bag, you feel me?
01:16We got The Vogue with Charles Truly.
01:18Who that handsome fella right there, man?
01:20You let me know.
01:21I think fashion was always like my first expression.
01:24Culturally, I'm honored to be a coach here.
01:27Every year feels exciting.
01:29My involvement this year is as crazy as a dream come true
01:32and I'm honored that this is highlighting black excellence.
01:35All right, Vogue, let's try these fits on this shit.
01:37Gotta call my boy Matt Hanson out here.
01:40Yo, Matt.
01:42Grand entrance.
01:43There he go.
01:45Vogue, I would like to introduce y'all.
01:49Man, maybe he don't even need no introduction.
01:51This is my big brother, not only that.
01:53This is the stylist that I've been working with
01:54for about 15 years now, Matthew Henson.
01:57Was that Vogue?
01:58You know, big brother.
02:00Let's walk him through these collections, man.
02:02We have several versions of the same jacket.
02:05Rocky wanted to do something really new and original
02:09from his own brand, AUG.
02:11See your own in there, right?
02:13Hold on, you gotta zoom in on that.
02:15You see that?
02:16You heard that, man?
02:18Oh, hi.
02:19He wanted to pay homage to New York
02:21in one of the biggest and most well-known jackets.
02:24It's a Marmont.
02:26Is a Marmont jacket, which is a really crazy
02:28outdoor technical jacket.
02:30It made a really beautiful watercolor material,
02:32but it's got an incredible shape.
02:33So what we wanted to do is try to do something
02:36in a tailoring silhouette that kind of mimicked
02:39the shape of a Marmont, paying homage to that.
02:41And this is what we came up with.
02:43So this is the first time I'm seeing it,
02:44you're seeing it, since it came from the factory.
02:46Marmont's a Harlem tradition.
02:49In the wintertime, everybody has a Marmont on
02:50or a Montclair, so we just wanted to pay homage to Harlem.
02:54Like he said, y'all see, when you see people
02:56with the orange, lime, green, red, blue,
02:59like all those colors stemming from way back in the day.
03:01We talking about 2002, you know, all the way to now,
03:05current days.
03:06Like that was our like teenage jacket.
03:08That was our bear or our mountain gear or our North Face.
03:12That's what it was for us back then.
03:13Shout out to Harlem, man.
03:15Now let's try on these fits.
03:20Scene one, take two.
03:23Yo, so this is one option.
03:25The oversized look.
03:26You know, very elegant with the tie, with the Marmont.
03:29Popped the collar one time on him.
03:31Some red bottoms on the feet.
03:33Rocky said that he wants to do something a bit different
03:35than what we've been doing.
03:36We've been doing suits for probably close to like two years
03:38now, especially since in the beginning,
03:40we were just doing everything with young designers,
03:42a lot of street wear.
03:43But I do like this dressed up moment,
03:46embracing your fatherhood.
03:47It's been great.
03:48And I think this blends the two because it's not so strict
03:52in the tailoring.
03:53It's a bit fun.
03:54The fabric is a fresco wool and the details are the same
03:57as like any other technical jacket.
03:58Creating with Matt is dope because he's like a blank canvas.
04:02It allows you to be you.
04:04I like fucking with people that's not afraid
04:06to color outside the line.
04:07And I think the element of surprise,
04:08I think people are expecting me to wear like a certain
04:10type of brand.
04:11And I think you come in, you know,
04:13in awe really makes a statement,
04:14especially in the direction you're pushing the brand.
04:16Anna's whole thing was like,
04:19make sure you're wearing a black designer this year
04:23to the Met Gala.
04:24Don't wear anybody that's not black.
04:27And I was like, I'm a black fucking designer.
04:30I'm a wear mine. She was like, yes, you should wear yours.
04:40I fight him all the time.
04:41And it's just like, he fights me, I fight him.
04:44And that's what makes our relationship dope
04:46because we know how to fight productively.
04:49There's certain things that I do that he doesn't fuck with.
04:51He never liked the babushka stuff to begin with,
04:53but he was like, you know what?
04:55I get it. I fuck with it.
04:56Know what I'm saying?
04:57You were right about the babushka.
04:58It was actually a functional thing at that time.
05:01Something was going on.
05:02For sure.
05:03And I was kind of shocked.
05:04But you know what it was?
05:04It worked out really well and it became a big thing.
05:07People are still doing that.
05:08We agree to disagree and shit happens.
05:10Look, he still made it look good on that carpet at that gala.
05:14So we did that thing.
05:15We can go back and forth as much as we want,
05:17but we already know it's always going to be.
05:20You know what I'm saying?
05:21Always.
05:27So y'all, this is the final look.
05:30This is what I'm feeling like is the one, not the two.
05:32The jacket is a wool twill with a matching wool twill vest.
05:36And then we did a custom boxer in satin with the AUG details,
05:41matching wool twill pant.
05:42The shoes are classic lace-up collaboration
05:45between AUG and Christian Louboutin.
05:48And the matching tie as well, too.
05:50So some of the details on the jacket
05:52are that it has an internal closure system
05:54as well as an external closure system.
05:56So usually on a technical jacket,
05:57you just have like a zip up the front
05:59because that's all you really need.
06:00But we did this in a little bit more
06:01a nod to Rocky Sartorial side.
06:03So we made this similar shape as the Marmot,
06:06but we made it more Sartorial
06:08and did it with a double-breasted closure.
06:09So the jacket can close completely the same way
06:14that a tux or a blazer.
06:15Exactly.
06:16With clothes.
06:16So you can get really evening with it and have this.
06:19You can open it this way.
06:20You can have the collar stand.
06:21It's super versatile.
06:23You can go whichever way that you like.
06:24He gave me that good Ralph Lauren.
06:26Exactly.
06:26His nail on the pop of that collar.
06:27The flat pocket you see right there.
06:28I think your dad era is my favorite era so far.
06:33Me too.
06:33I did love the beginning days
06:35when you were starting to figure out how the industry worked
06:38and all the traveling we were doing back then.
06:41That was pretty insane times.
06:42I did enjoy those moments.
06:43I'm glad those moments are older.
06:44I'm a bit too old for that.
06:46So I'm really enjoying this moment.
06:47You and me both.
06:48Yeah, that was some crazy days.
06:51But no, I really feel like this is your best moment.
06:54Super proud of you, bro.
06:55See, I'm a whole dad.
06:56I think we embodied that.
06:57We go into that intentionally now.
07:00You know, that's just me.
07:02That's a part of me now.
07:04So it goes hand in hand with everything moving forward since I became a pappy.
07:12Jewelry for the night.
07:13Met Gala.
07:14I'll be wearing Bugari and Pave Natio.
07:16I got permanent grills, so I'm gonna wear grills for sure.
07:19You ain't got no clothes.
07:20I can't take these out.
07:23My hair will be by Tashana Miles.
07:26She's my hairstylist.
07:28And I think we want to kind of go, we want opulence, but we still want to make sure
07:34that it still feels a little subtle and classy for the evening and appropriate for
07:38what they call Black Dandyism.
07:41When you think about Harlem, when you think about fashion, when you talk about the old
07:46days of the origin of all of this shit, right?
07:50Prohibition era, 1940s film noir, mid-century, 1950s civil rights movement.
07:56All of those like decades that I just mentioned all had the same uniform.
08:01Children, babies, men and women all dressed alike.
08:04They were all tailored and suited to a T.
08:07That changed when, you know, more urban and more streetwear became more of like,
08:13I think an everyday normality.
08:15And I just want to bring back that feeling of, you know, elegance, Harlem elegance,
08:19ghetto fabulous.
08:20That's what I am.
08:21That's what I embody.
08:22Everybody want to dress like a Harlem motherfucker right now.
08:25We talking about Pele Pele's, construction boots, all of the shit we started.
08:30I mean, I'm not going to say Harlem started grills,
08:32but we definitely put on for our generation about 15 years ago with the grill.
08:36Harlem brought back the grills.
08:37Harlem brought back Jeremy Scott.
08:39We brought back Thames.
08:40We brought back Uptowns.
08:41Nobody was wearing Nike and none of that.
08:43And now Harlem just brought back Puma.
08:46Harlem, Harlem.
08:49I feel like it's a New York thing,
08:50but I feel like it's okay for you to be okay with Brooklyn being the best dress borough.
08:53That's all I'm trying to say.
08:55Brooklyn is, you got to cross the bridge to see the fashion.
08:58That's it.
08:59That's what I'm saying.
09:01Yeah.
09:01You a hater, bro.
09:03Once you come over the bridge, you want something else,
09:04but you have to cross the bridge to see what's really going on.
09:07You know what I'm saying?
09:07You going to say Brooklyn flyer than Harlem?
09:09I'm going to go with that and I'm going to stick there.
09:12I'm sticking with that.
09:12That's how we know you're not from Harlem.
09:17This is for all my youngins out there.
09:19I'm going to give y'all some tips for when you're going to the Met Gala.
09:22Number one, when you get to the Met Gala, make sure that you don't OD on snacks.
09:28You don't want to show up to the red carpet looking bloated.
09:30That's rule number one.
09:32Rule number two, listen.
09:34When you step out that car and you see all those fans and all those supporters and kids
09:39and people yelling your name and shouting, embrace it all.
09:43Love it because it's all real love.
09:45Number three, when you get to the Met Gala, make sure you're on time and not like me and my lady.
09:51Number four, number four and one of the most important rules of the Met Gala.
09:56Always, always bring your best fit.
10:01Bring what you think.
10:03It's going to shit on the whole night.
10:05Make sure ain't nobody fucking with you.
10:08Make sure you ain't looking like nobody else.
10:10Express yourself, you know?
10:12Don't be scared to do that.
10:16This Met Gala, I'm looking forward to being there on time.
10:19Like I said, I really have a great time every time I go.
10:22So I just plan on having like a fucking hell of a night and enjoying myself.
10:28Shits and giggles the whole night.
10:30I think we should make it normal for celebrating black excellence.
10:39Yo, Vogue, that was my final feeling.
10:43I'm about to sign off.
10:44It was a pleasure having y'all here with me.
10:46But I gotta get some beauty rest so I can prepare for this Met Gala.
10:49Shoutouts to Vogue, shoutouts to ASAP, shoutouts to Harlem, and shoutouts to life in general.
10:54Happy to be here.
10:56Peace.
10:56Taking off.
10:58ASAP.
11:01See the sexy thing?
11:05My shorty got the little fatty on the tube.
11:08You see that forehead?
11:10You know what it is.
11:16There's a lot of deep Onu-fi speculation about it.
11:18I don't know.
11:18I'm a part of that.
11:18I'm not sure.
11:19You've got a good idea.
11:20I know.
11:20I've heard you in the eyewitness, I've heard you.
11:20I'm not sure.
11:21I'm sure I can't put it in my eyes.
11:21You see that forehead is a veil.
11:24I know.
11:24So I'm a little bit more.
11:25I know.
11:25I'm hungry.
11:26I want to be with you.
11:27You're probably not sure.
11:28I'm hungry.
11:28I know.
11:29I've had the possibility.
11:30I'm hungry.
11:30You're hungry.
11:31I can't talk.
11:32I do not know anything.
11:33I do not know anything else.
11:34I can't do anything else.
11:34I can't do it.
11:35I just love you.
