00:00Anti-government protests erupted in Israel on Monday evening following reports of controversial
00:05new cabinet plans for Gaza.
00:07Hundreds gathered outside the Knesset parliament demanding a deal to release hostages held
00:11by Hamas.
00:12The protests followed news that Prime Minister Netanyahu's cabinet approved plans to potentially
00:17seize all of Gaza and stay indefinitely.
00:21The plan reportedly also involves moving hundreds of thousands of Palestinians south, raising
00:26fears of forcible displacement.
00:28Israel says the goal is defeating Hamas and freeing hostages, but protesters expressed
00:33deep skepticism.
00:34There's no reason to continue on with this war.
00:39What we did for one and a half year, last one and a half year, and we couldn't succeed, we
00:46won't be able to do it now.
00:48They just want to hail the strip of Gaza and make a new settlement there.
00:53They will stay there, soldiers will be killed, and the hostages will come back in black sack.
01:03That's what will happen.
01:04We are here to protest against the government, and we are calling to stop the war, which I
01:11believe is no longer a war.
01:13It's a genocide.
01:15We are here to call to bring back the hostages.
01:20We know that Netanyahu does not want the hostages back because he wants to keep his throne forever.
01:28We want, we know that the messianic parties just simply wants to annex the West Bank and
01:37Gaza Strip, and we are against that.
01:39Israel resumed major operations in Gaza in mid-March, and now controls about half the
01:44territory.
01:45An Israeli aid blockade since mid-March has worsened an already dire humanitarian crisis.
01:51Implementing the plan would mean a vast expansion of the war, likely drawing fierce international
01:56opposition.
