00:00I want to start on the economy, sir, which is obviously the biggest issue for voters.
00:05We got new numbers today, better than expected job numbers.
00:09Much better.
00:10At the same time, the economy shrank in the first quarter.
00:14You've been arguing all week that this is President Biden's economy.
00:17Is this now your economy, sir?
00:20Well, I think certain aspects of it are.
00:22Costs are.
00:23I was able to get down the cost, but even that, it takes a while to get them down,
00:27but we got them down good.
00:28We lost five to six billion dollars a day with Biden, five to six billion.
00:36And I've got that down to a great number right now in a very in a record time.
00:40You know, we're talking about 100 days.
00:42But just think of what that is.
00:44Five billion dollars a day we're losing on trade.
00:47And we were very tough with China.
00:50As you know, we put 145 percent tariff on.
00:53Nobody's ever heard of such a thing.
00:54And we've essentially cut off trade relationships by putting that much of a tariff on.
01:01And that's OK.
01:02We've gone cold turkey.
01:03That means that we're not losing.
01:05You know, we lost a trillion dollars to China.
01:08A trillion dollars.
01:10That means we're not losing a trillion dollars when we go cold turkey because we're not doing
01:14business with them right now.
01:16And they want to make a deal.
01:17They want to make a deal very badly.
01:19We'll see how that all turns out.
01:20But it's got to be a fair deal.
01:21When does it become the Trump economy?
01:25It partially is right now.
01:27And I really mean this.
01:28I think the good parts of the Trump economy and the bad parts of the Biden economy because
01:32he's done a terrible job.
01:34He did a terrible job on everything from his auto pen, which I'm sure he knew nothing about
01:39some of the things he was supposedly signing.
01:41But, sir, you acknowledge when you announced your tariffs, for example, the stock market
01:46dropped.
01:47It's been volatile.
01:48It has since gone up.
01:49It is.
01:50Do you take responsibility for that?
01:52Yeah.
01:52Do you take responsibility when it dropped?
01:54Ultimately, I take responsibility for everything.
01:57But I've only just been here for a little more than three months.
02:01But the stock market, look at what's happened in the last short period of time.
02:05It didn't have nine or 10 days in a row or 11 days where it's gone up.
02:09But and the tariffs have just started kicking in and we're we're doing really well psychologically.
02:19I mean, the fake news was giving me such press on the tariffs.
02:22The tariffs are going to make us rich.
02:24We're going to be a very rich country.
02:26So let's talk about the tariffs.
02:27And I want to ask you about something you said this week, got a lot of attention.
02:31You were at your cabinet meeting.
02:32You said, quote, I'm going to quote what you said.
02:35Maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls.
02:38And maybe the two dolls will cost a couple of bucks more than they would normally.
02:42Are you saying that your tariffs will cause some prices to go up?
02:47No, I think the tariffs are going to be great for us because it's going to make us rich.
02:50But you said some dolls are going to cost more.
02:52Isn't that an acknowledgement that some prices will go up?
02:55I don't think a beautiful baby girl needs that's 11 years old needs to have 30 dolls.
03:02I think they can have three dolls or four dolls because what we were doing with China was just unbelievable.
03:08We had a trade deficit of hundreds of billions of dollars with China.
03:13When you say they could have three dolls instead of 30 dolls, are you saying Americans could see empty store shelves?
03:20No, I'm not saying that.
03:22I'm just saying they don't need to have 30 dolls.
03:24They can have three.
03:25They don't need to have 250 pencils.
03:27They can have five.
03:28But you're basically saying there could be some supply shortages because of the tariffs.
03:33We don't have to waste money on a trade deficit with China for things we don't need, for junk that we don't need.
