A video allegedly showing a constable accepting a bribe in Raebareli has gone viral on social media, prompting public outrage. The constable seen in the video was identified as Vivek Yadav, posted at Makhdupur outpost in Gadganj. In response, SP Raebareli has ordered an investigation, with CO Dalmau assigned to probe the matter.

However, Raebareli Police issued a clarification, stating that Head Constable Avdhesh Kumar, along with Constables Vivek Yadav and Vichitra Kumar, were lawfully issuing challans under Section 292 BNS for road encroachment and littering. Police say 22 people were fined during patrol duty, and the ₹100 shown in the video was part of an on-spot fine paid by a local shop customer on behalf of the person fined.

The police claim the video was deliberately misrepresented to malign their image and labeled the bribery allegation as “false and baseless.” Authorities have warned of legal action against those who made and circulated the video with alleged malicious intent.
