Lucknow: Two persons, including the owner of a food factory, were charred to death after a fire broke out in the Sweety Food Factory in Sarojini Nagar's Ganganagar Amausi area on Saturday afternoon.
Police received the alert around 4:30 pm and rushed to the spot with local police, PRB, and fire brigade teams. The fire, suspected to have started due to a welding spark, was brought under control by 7 pm using 15–16 emergency vehicles.
The deceased were identified as factory owner Akhilesh Kumar (45) of Mawaiya, Charbagh, and Abrar (45), a resident of Jayraj Puri Colony. Both were pulled from the blaze and taken to Lok Bandhu Hospital, where they were declared dead.
The factory, closed for over a year, had welding work ongoing at the time. Police have initiated further legal proceedings.
