00:05Hisar police arrested the man who took her to the hospital, seen here on this now viral CCTV
00:10footage. The prime accused Udesh Yadav, the police now said, was a former lover.
00:15The Hisar police made some startling revelations about 30-year-old Udesh Yadav,
00:19a clerk at Haryana Agricultural University. He was arrested on 1 May 2025. Udesh and Bhavna had
00:26met in 2018 at a wedding and soon entered into a romantic relationship, the police said.
00:31A marriage proposal was sent to Bhavna's family but it was rejected. According to Udesh's mother,
00:37Bhavna wanted to marry her son but Bhavna's mother disapproved, saying he was just a clerk.
00:42Bhavna left for the Philippines in 2018 to pursue an MBBS degree. She returned in 2023 and began
00:49preparing for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, a medical licensing exam in India,
00:54compulsory for Indian citizens who obtained their MBBS degree abroad.
00:58In the meantime, Udesh joined Haryana Agricultural University in 2019 and married Nikki in 2021.
01:04He lives in university quarters on campus. After Bhavna returned,
01:08they reconnected and started communicating again. However, things sawed when Udesh began
01:12distancing himself. Bhavna reportedly started contacting him using unknown numbers. When he
01:17cut off contact entirely, she began messaging and calling his wife Nikki on WhatsApp police said.
01:23Nikki submitted a 60-page chat log to the police, showing Bhavna's repeated attempts to reach out.
01:28One of the messages sent on April 21, just three days before the incident, read,
01:33I am not okay, I will end myself. Nikki reportedly tried to counsel her.
01:37According to police, Udesh took Bhavna to a private hospital in Hisar on the morning of April 24,
01:432025. At 8.35am, he called her mother, Gayatri Yadav, informing her that Bhavna had suffered burn
01:50injuries. CCTV footage confirmed his presence at the hospital. However, by the time Bhavna's family
01:56arrived, Udesh had gone missing. Due to her critical condition, Bhavna was shifted to SMS
02:01Hospital in Jaipur, where she later died during treatment. A medical board conducted the post-mortem
02:07and based on a zero-FIR filed earlier, Hisar police registered the case and launched an investigation.
02:13Under mounting pressure from the victim's family, who had threatened to protest,
02:16police intensified search efforts. Udesh eventually surrendered. Udesh's wife and
02:21mother have publicly defended him, claiming Bhavna had a history of creating drama and pressuring
02:26him to marry her. They allege that she set herself on fire and that Udesh wasn't present when it
02:32happened. They say he fled out of fear of being framed. During a search of his room, police recovered
02:37a bottle of petrol, burnt clothes and other key evidence. Hisar deputy SP Tanuj Sharma confirmed the
02:43arrest and said interrogation is ongoing.
