00:00An anti-vice raid at a spa and massage centre in Johor Bahru on Friday led to the rescue
00:07of 10 women believed to be victims of sexual exploitation.
00:11Immigration Department Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shahban said the women were among
00:1643 individuals detained during the operation, which identified potential victims using the
00:22National Guideline on Human Trafficking Indicators.
00:27Investigations revealed that the 10 victims had been forced to provide sexual services
00:32without pay.
00:33Their movements were restricted and their passports were confiscated by their handlers.
00:38Zakaria said the rescued women have been placed in a safe house while further investigations
00:43are underway.
00:44In total, 37 Vietnamese and 6 Indonesian women aged between 18 and 40 were detained during
00:51the raid.
00:52Eleven men from Indonesia and Bangladesh, believed to be working as cleaning staff,
00:57were also arrested.
00:59Additionally, seven local men, believed to be caretakers and owners of the premises, were
01:04taken into custody.
01:07These also seized more than 128,000 ringgit in cash during the raid.
