00:00Okay, gentlemen, you're ready, know the rules. Let me remind you to keep it clean, protect yourself at all times, obey my commands at all times. Touch gloves. Good luck to both of you.
00:19So Teofima Lopez against Arnold Barbosa, New York against California in Times Square. Perfect confrontation.
00:30You saw the fan polled and favored Teofima Lopez by 77%. Fans of Barbosa, who is 32-0, might beg to differ.
00:44A year ago, on the undercard of Ryan Garcia versus Devin Haney in the Barkley Center across the water in Brooklyn, Barbosa had a close fight against a lanky Irishman named Sean McComb.
00:57A lot of people thought McComb was winning the fight. Barbosa wound up with a clear decision.
01:05Yeah, Jenna, speaking of that, I visited Teofima Lopez in camp in Miami, and he told me that Barbosa Jr. had, quote-unquote, barely won his last three fights or so.
01:15It was a close decision against McComb, that's for sure.
01:26At the end of the day, it's not how you win them, it's whether you win them.
01:31And I'll say that those three opponents were top-notch opponents. Those weren't just any of your average guys, you know what I'm saying, in the rankings. Those are top of the heat.
01:43There's an interesting comparison between Barbosa and 168, 175-pound knockout sensation David Benavides.
01:58David Benavides, in early teens, had to peel off 80-plus pounds to get himself into shape to become a boxer.
02:07And Barbosa, at one point, put on 100 pounds to be a football player, and became a pretty good high school football player, a linebacker at over 200 pounds.
02:18Then peeled off 80-100 pounds to get back into position to be the boxer he is now.
02:24If you have the discipline to do that kind of thing, then you have the discipline to pursue the craft of boxing, which takes day after day, hour after hour application.
02:37This sophisticated chess match about to heat up, man, I really like that both of these guys came out with their mind in the game.
02:44They're not just in there physically trying to break that door down. They're thinking they went through this fight.
02:49And you mentioned discipline, Jim.
02:53Honor Barbosa has had a bunch of training camps in Big Bear, away from his family, in the mountains, in altitude.
03:04Big Bear has a long record of success as a training location for a lot of top fighters.
03:10Big Bear has a long record of success as a quedate forol на оåŖęÆ ŠŗŠ°ŃĻĪæ Jr., El Suig condcimento.
03:14Good right hand by Papofozza.
03:17And the left hand under these.
03:18And the second, by aprimo.
03:23They're trading shots.
03:25More or less in the middle of the ring.
03:28It's an entertaining start to this fight.
03:30There it is.
03:34Relax, guys, relax, relax, let me inālet me inālet me inā11.
03:37let me in relax relax relax yo that's yo ah you seen you seen his face you seen his face
03:48that hurt him bro that hurt him that body shot hurt him keep on jabbing keep on jab you'll get
03:56him i can't you can't throw that right hand like that jab your way in
04:03from the field you got a lot of energy bro they got a little touch touch
04:12i got it i got it i got it remember you gotta touch him then go for it all right you heard him in the
04:17body already keep on jamming
04:27lopez taking instruction from his father in the corner
04:33taller barbosa stepping to the center of the ring again
04:42both fighters jab to the body
04:49what's the normal purpose of the jab to the body antonio well that's just to uh set the other
04:54punches up and it keeps your guy at base it's hard oh good right hand counter it's hard to go through
04:59that stiff body shot yeah but look for teo to add on to that shot that's what makes it effective
05:07combination punchers are usually the best fighters teofimo lopez has been at times in his career a
05:14brilliant combination puncher
05:23and jim of these three main events this fight has by far the closest odds lopez entered the fight
05:28just a minus 260 favor
05:37sneaky left hand
05:41and this is the third defense of lopez's ring magazine junior welterweight title he won it from
05:54josh taylor defended it successfully against jermaine ortiz and then against steve claggett last summer
05:59but this is certainly the toughest opponent by far of those three defenses
06:05left to clandard for barbosa
06:11not a hard shot but it found the target
06:18if these rounds are going to be this competitive and this close is going to be a nightmare for these
06:22judges to find out who's actually winning this fight
06:25well particularly because that excuse me at this moment
06:32it's not an overwhelmingly fast pace there are flurries there are moments when they step to each
06:37other there are other moments when they're standing and looking at each other and trying to survey the
06:42next opportunity that always makes it harder for judges too
06:45you certainly see the disparity in the hand speed lopez one of some of the fastest hands in the sport
06:55and barbosa's patient he's waiting to counter punch
07:01great observation cop
07:11no measure no stick your arm out like that let's go
07:24that was beautiful
07:35when you have them on the ropes
07:41you
07:42drinks drinks all around
07:43something's got a hole
07:49charlie get up here
08:00final destination bloodlines in cinemas may 14
08:15time square on a friday night always a lively and active scene you might see this at any moment of
08:22the day or night of course because of the level of flow traffic and human beings who come through
08:27time square but this is special these people are here for a unique
08:33setting for a boxing card courtesy of turkey all shake who has brought big time boxing to the middle of time
08:41square
08:44you see teo he keeps jabbing to the body and that's obviously a great way to disrupt barbosa's rhythm
08:49i think you showed me between rounds a scorecard that had teo winning the first two rounds
08:55yeah jim i have teo up 20 to 18 2-0 but these are tough rounds to score particularly the first rounds
09:02i just like i think teo's beating barbosa to the punch and of course he's more creative with his offense
09:07none of that unexpected and that's part of what
09:17may make it an uphill fight for barbosa is a little more workmanlike as a boxer than teofimo lopez
09:23well that was a good right hand that barbosa just landed but teofimo uh reacted and fired right back
09:29he's gonna be a hell of a fighter i think if barbosa has in his arsenal a best punch to me it's his
09:36straight right hand he i i think that he beat macomb uh stepping forward with the straight right hand
09:42now that's against a softball obviously this is a different equation because teofimo is a conventional
09:48fighter and you see right there the leg the footwork the movement that'll drive a guy like honorable
09:54bulls and nuts because he needs you to engage you know me and teofimo is not having he's on the
09:59square tonight teofimo one of the most athletic fighters in all of boxing and one of the most
10:03confident too and he's getting home with that left hand to the body be prepared for that right hand to
10:09crash up top watch
10:12straight right hand again from barbosa
10:26i think but balls is gonna have to close the gap a little bit if he let to just sit out there from
10:30that range he'll never be able to find he'll fall he's falling short with his jab falling short with
10:35his jab by a few inches every time so that underlines your point antonio and it's the little movement
10:43that teo is doing in front of arnold that's giving him giving him these fits the little feints the
10:48little breaks because he don't know if he's going to punch off those movements good kind of hook
10:57the little feints upset your timing and rhythm it really does and look at that hook he just hit
11:02on a proposal with teo is on the square i haven't seen him look this good in a long time he's certainly
11:08looking sharp i lost some sparring miami he almost put one of his bar corners through the ropes
11:13oh that kind of shot with the right hand excellent teofimo lopez showing you some of his remarkable talent
11:22here in this round
11:26he was already ahead two rounds to run or two rounds to none on coppinger's card
11:31and now a third round very good one round on the top and it's teofimo his only loss george
11:39cambosis jr has a fight set and it's against richardson hitchens hitchens defending his ibf
11:44super lightweight title for the very first time cambosis the former unified lightweight champion
11:49looking to become a two division champ in this fight the fight is a saturday june 14th at the theater
11:55at madison square garden that fight and so many others live on the zone for you
12:03mike carpenter did george cambosis train in australia or is he training here for the fight
12:09against richardson hitchens yeah he is training in australia here
12:14but look i think cambosis you can never count him out
12:17obviously he had that major upset against teo and they should really run that fight back as antonio said earlier
12:34quite an assignment though to train in australia and then make the long flight here to the united
12:38states and try to put it all together he's done it before
12:44he also often trains in miami and again hitches has a tricky style
12:52and we turn our attention back to round four between thank you tpmo lopez and arnold barbosa and let's once
12:59again check in with the one-time heavyweight sensation mike tyson mike what do you see ain't sensational fight
13:08man um bobosa's in there fighting um teofimo is very sharp
13:13very sharp fighters very elusive
13:20jim i just think so far the hand speed and the foot speed is a big problem for bob for bobosa
13:25it's hard for bobosa to hit him very elusive tiafimo lopez
13:37i think that's where bobosa needs to pitch camp right there if he's going to have
13:42some offensive uh effect to be an offensive effective against tiafimo
13:55good time right hand by tiafimo
14:03i think as jim pointed out bobosa keeps reaching with that jab he's just fighting at the wrong
14:08distance right that means he got to double it up get closer
14:13and i think also honorable boza need a man to be kind of standing still it's you know when you move it
14:19throws him off for sure well he's not as fast as tiafimo lopez he's not as fluid in his motions as tiafimo
14:27lopez he's a hard-working fighter who might be just a little bit out talented here
14:35that's what it looks like right now but he still have rounds to go he could change it turn it around
14:40but you got to be a smart fighter to do that you should never count out a fighter who's 32 and up
14:44he's seen a lot he's gotten past a lot he's found a way to win fights that might not have been going
14:49his way now it appears he would have to do it again
14:56i'm curious it's probably the most gifted fighter he's put exactly i'm curious to know what his
15:01corners going to tell him in between rounds i'll hold the back of his head don't pull it on the back of his head
15:10barbosa landed an uppercut but he was throwing it from a distance
15:13it loses power when it has to travel through space the uppercut that really hurts you is the one
15:19that's not measuring barbosa last week there was a sensational fight in england between connor ben
15:30and chris cubank jr our emily austin has caught up with connor ben
15:37we are here in times square with connor ben coming off of a phenomenal fight
15:41what a welcome to new york have you ever seen such a thing no it's a blessing to be here and watch
15:45history tonight i mean what an event what an occasion i thought it was crazy at first
15:49i couldn't see it and now what an event you know it's unbelievable absolutely phenomenal
15:54fans are thinking these fights are 50 50. any predictions going into the night they're definitely
15:57all 50 50. i think there may be one upset i've got tio over barboza i just think tio's all wrong
16:03i've got ramirez and haney that's a 50 50 fight but then i've got ryan garcia it's maybe
16:09being being a sticky fire early on first two rounds and then i think ryan will get the stoppage
16:16ryan by stoppage ryan by stoppage well we'll find out in just a few moments i'll let you enjoy the
16:20fight thank you so much pleasure thank you cop did you find it interesting that he called uh the um the
16:29fight between haney and ramirez a 50 50. yeah i think that's going a bit too far and i think that's
16:36probably personal devin haney and connor ben have talked a lot of trash on social media over the
16:41years well i think they're really basing it off the last fight that a haney had there's still a lot
16:47of questions that hasn't been answered that's neat that we're going to need to answer talking about the
16:52fight in brooklyn against ryan garcia last year exactly which was a nightmare for haney but wound up
16:58but no decisions
17:04and haney like barboza jim he trained in big bear too
17:09never a bad idea
17:13eskenati golubkin good kind of right by teofimo lopez teo looks super super sharp today
17:20good body shot yeah yeah sharp he's on his space is it the best teo we've seen since his win over
17:26lomachenko i would say yes watch your heads in there guys watch your head he's in control he's
17:31doing what he want to do so he's put it together at the right moment for the right stage a new york
17:37fighter fighting in times square you know he's feeling good look at the moves he's making yeah
17:43he's showboating just a little bit
17:48barbosa now doing a better job of coming in and landing his shots
17:52asserting himself well barbosa is nothing if not determined he's gotten through a lot of different
17:58obstacles in his career he has probably performed at a higher level than most people would have thought
18:05when his professional career began
18:11yeah teofimo lopez he has a bit of swelling under his right eye it's gotten a little worse
18:15as the rounds have gone on we're only in round five who's scheduled 12. still plenty of time for
18:23barbosa almost certainly behind on the scorecards to find the way to real teofimo in but again teofimo
18:30looking so good and there's a hard right hand thrown from distance but landed perfectly and i believe
18:36that one two is he's found a home with that one two he's trying to smash it in on on a barboza looking
18:42to hurt him or either drop him with it you see teofimo a lot of these times using that cross-arm
18:49defense and it's working pretty well for him it's his version of the philly shell it's pretty pretty
18:57brilliant counter punching by teofimo in some moments particularly in this round yeah he's in his bag right
19:05now jim he's feeling good now remember this entertainment it's the entertainment business
19:17look at that jab 10 seconds gentlemen
19:24so often fighters portray with their body language how confident they're feeling in the ring
19:28the ring piafimo strutting dancing throwing a left hook in the middle of dance step and then mugging
19:35for the audience all of that he's putting on a show man he's performed unbelievable 35 rounds
19:45keep on him with the jab you're listening to me give him water he's done
19:51what i told you you're better in your distance he's scared because that jab is too fast listen
20:01the jab is winning us the fight okay don't stop throwing it and let's set up your punches think
20:07about it every time you do it slip back give him this give him this come back with the right
20:14night it's your night it's your night you're ready you got your rhythm after you're feeling right
20:22as we continue to watch new york fighter tiafimo lopez let's go once again for observations from the
20:29ultimate new york fighter mike tyson man um if i'm not mistaken um tiafimo lopez is giving a masterful
20:37get down man get down get down i don't think you're mistaken mike no he's just looking good
20:44smart fast sharp elusive not getting hit countering
20:50mike at what point in a training camp are you sure that you're going to come in and deliver a
20:56performance like this does it take all the way to the end of the training camp or can you tell
21:00halfway through two-thirds of the way through something like that i'm the guy that takes this
21:04into the training camp because i'm fighting hard every moment in the round so yeah i i like to fight
21:10to the end like what a few days before the fighting just get right in there just get so accustomed to
21:15fighting sparring sparring then just get right in the ring
21:22thank you mike product of the great customato mystical teacher and trainer of boxing
21:30boxing who handled mike from his teenage years onward after having taken floyd patterson to olympic gold medal and
21:40heavyweight championship of the world customato was a legend in the sport mike tyson is still a legend in the sport
21:47i just want to point out man uh tiofimo lopez is looking fantastic tonight and i can't see too many
21:57fighters beating him on this square when he's moving like this being hard to hit and counter punching
22:03practically unbeatable man well it would probably take another fighter with extreme natural talent and
22:09barbosa is not that he's a worker beat and a good one a really good one who has accomplished a lot
22:16once again the record is 32 and oh and there's a hard counter right hand that could change
22:23perspectives right now he heard him yeah let's see how he follows up but they both exchanged did you
22:29see that mike they both landed another one antonio tarver is flinching here at ringside
22:39antonio they're not hitting you don't worry i can see it coming
22:45that was exactly what barbosa needed to change this fight and close the distance mike he need
22:50to close the distance to have that type of success he gotta keep letting his hands go though and he's
22:54got to put mental determination behind it it can't just be a one punch festival he's got to make
23:00that festival begin a momentum shift in the fight and he's trying to do it right now
23:06he's landing his best shots he's landing in the entire fight thus far and see can he keep on
23:15advancing with that well he's letting tfmo lead and he's countering effectively seconds gentlemen
23:23is this is is this a barboza round jim you think well the one big shot was hard to ignore and you know if
23:32there's any round so far that you would give to barbosa that would be it i don't score fights mike
23:38you do okay yeah jim i have tfmo lopez up five rounds to one that sixth round where barbosa lands
23:44that big right hand you see tfmo's legs buckle that was the first round i gave to barbosa the challenger
23:50and i think most importantly tfmo is now cut under the left eye from that right hand he got beat to the
23:56punch right there tfmo landed in the chest and barboza landed right on the nose coppinger's
24:03unofficial scorecard there you see it you see the sixth round going to barbosa one punch can sometimes
24:09change a fight that was a really good counter right hand wasn't enough to change the fight i think we
24:15talked mike into that one huh he wanted to get out with the low pay let's go coaches come on
24:21if you see them walking on the right eye right now it is in a good spot at least it's under the eye
24:27and i think it was that shot that calls it absolutely
24:32sometimes a mouse under the eye eventually becomes a cut that's a big change in a fight most definitely
24:43but as barbosa begins this round teo goes back to the more confident body language doubling the jab
24:51it's waiting to counter looking if barbosa is going to lead which he isn't at this point
24:57tfmo comes with a hard right hand over the top great right hand i think uh barbosa just stands
25:03in front of to until to jabs he won't beat him to the jab jab first
25:07i don't know if he's quick enough to jab first it takes explosive release sometimes to do that he's good
25:22yeah you see barbosa's left eye swelling up here he just got countered with an overhand right
25:27ooh tio's getting close with combinations guys
25:35whatever effect that right hand had tfmo certainly has recovered now at the end of the day
25:41barbosa just doesn't have the same kind of firepower that tion lopez has and that's
25:46that's what's been the difference in the fight so far
25:54that along with the fact that tio clearly won the first five rounds and with experience you know
25:59barbosa will learn that there's different you know he can do with different wrinkles
26:05when a fighter is 32 and 0 antonio is there still a gap in experience it depends on which
26:12opponents he's fought right exactly exactly it doesn't mean that he's fought the best
26:16but he has fought great good fighters i don't know how many great fighters he faced
26:21and tonight he's in there with a great fighter well that's what everybody said about tfima lopez
26:27after he beat lomachenko and he's flashing that kind of talent again here tonight in new york city
26:34in time square in the first ever event of its kind
26:41yeah barbosa seems to not be committing to one strategy we've seen him trying to pressure tfima
26:46now he's trying to counter him and nothing's really working is it
26:54well again
26:57if you're just as quick as your opponent then you can gain purchase by countering well
27:03but if you're not as quick as your opponent it's very hard to counter it
27:07and tfima lopez is quicker than arnold barbosa we can see that
27:11barbosa gonna have to learn variations in his boxing game you know you throw the jab a hundred
27:17different ways speed power and those that are he can take some power off and smash it down with
27:24power but he has to have variations to his game mike and you can see it on barbosa's face he is
27:30getting frustrated right by thinking with the smarter fighter
27:36watch party in times square watch party in new york city
27:43and let's take a look at a package from the fight that illustrates tfima lopez's defensive skills antonio
27:50and here we see lopez on the ropes but he's not covering up he's moving making a miss with every
27:59punch and he have a right to counter as well so that's great boxing ability right there and we
28:05didn't see that in in tfima's last few fights and when you swing hard and miss you lose some of your
28:11energy you're zapped a little bit like by that every time you expand yourself
28:19seconds up let's go coach so great defensive fighters over the course of 12 rounds can wear
28:24the opponent down simply by making the miss most definitely who did that to you anybody man by making
28:33me miss i didn't hit eric harden like i wanted to and bernard got away you know those are the two i wish
28:42i had bernard bernard is impossible let's face it i think it's important to note here too so many
28:48critics have called for teo to get a new trainer and eliminate his dad from the corner and he's doing
28:54great right now and i think his dad is giving some sound advice really good advice between the rounds really
28:59good advice well there are over the long history of the sport you can find many instances that
29:07demonstrate the pluses and the minuses of being trained by your father it has to be an intelligent
29:14balanced rational relationship and right now it looks as though teofimo lopez has the right trainer
29:21right mike coppenger absolutely i mean teofimo lopez his father knows him best and you heard him say
29:28it before he's in a rhythm and he is certainly a rhythm fighter and when you're fighting your rhythm man
29:34you got to make sure that you keep those feet moving you keep those hands moving and you keep that head
29:39moving you gotta move the target
29:52i'm pushing him if you were going to find barbosa in terms like that you might say he's more of an
29:57effort and determination fighter than a rhythm fighter he's trying to bring everything he can
30:04to every moment in the ring even if the opponent may have more natural talent barbosa has
30:09beaten guys who had more natural talent but it's the movement it's the movement he's not staying
30:15still long enough you know every time he gets set to throw tio is gone or he's throwing a jab he has to
30:22reset and once again team female lopez is a guy that has to get up for fights he's up and down but when
30:29he's been down it's been when he's been a massive favorite and in this fight he's only a slight favorite
30:34he's fighting in time square he's having a good night tonight good body shot
30:45this is kind of hard to read tio yesterday at press day because he had a mask on and he kept the mask on
30:51during the entire day so i'm interviewing him but i can't see his eyes you know and
30:56you want to look into a fighter's eyes particularly 24 hours before the fight
31:03yeah and also jim that was the first face-off they did all fight week at the weigh-in yesterday
31:08tiafimo slapped barbosa across the face a couple of months ago in los angeles
31:19ten seconds
31:25solid right hand lead by tiafimo lopez he's shown us every punch in the toolkit
31:31and all of them have been effective here tonight okay listen did i get in
31:42okay now it's time for you don't know hey just yo it's eight zero
31:49okay be careful just keep on using your jab and let's start fucking fucking this dude up
31:55don't miss with the right go to the body go on top don't let let don't let him guess but keep on
32:02using your jab to block his his his high side and then shift in with the right
32:11well you can just turn on the juice and kill him
32:17we got five four rounds right
32:18all right use that jab come on fellas
32:29come on fellas
32:32as
32:34the late rounds arrive
32:39round nine of schedule 12. tp mo lopez for the moment seemingly cruising toward a decision
32:46win-win over arnold barbosa
32:49only thing i would ask that t-o do is tighten up that right hand every time he throws that right
32:53hand he brings the right foot up with it that's a cardinal sin how you're going to be able to uh
32:59to create the power you're going to need
33:03sitting at ringside and and you can see the red striped shirt behind the referee
33:08up on the apron of the ring that is arguably the greatest sports still photographer in the history of
33:14that crack that is neil leifer long time chief photographer for sports illustrated and he's been
33:22distributed in a lot of other uh magazines and publications and he is the author of one of the
33:29most famous if not the most famous boxing photographs ever of muhammad ali standing over
33:36the body of sonny liston in lewiston maine with his right arm cocked in in a defiant pose uh a a
33:45dramatic and spectacular photo and typical of the kind of work that leifer has been able to do
33:52over the decades it's amazing to still see him here in this position after everything he has accomplished
33:59nice combination by teo look like he's trying to close the show but he got to get his hands up
34:05but bozo
34:10they're still punching with power
34:12nice work
34:26this is certainly the best team we've seen in some time certainly since the josh taylor fight
34:31if he go on to win this fight and continue to look this impressive
34:35the rope who can we see him in there next with we got four or five guys on this card
34:40tifeno lopez believe it or not he is calling for a shot at boots ennis stop that's what he wants
34:45he wants to go up to welterweight despite the best at 147 and that fight's in the works it's not done
34:51but it's a very big possibility jim and that shows you a lot about who teofimo lopez is
34:56because i only heard him call out two guys terence crawford and boots and there aren't that many
35:04people who are running to fight either terence crawford or boots ennis for a lot of good reasons
35:09i'm telling you what kind of shot would you give to you against boots oh man uh well you know
35:25boost is not that strong of a fighter like chromeford at 47. i'm not sure that would be a hell of a fight
35:31though talent wise skill wise one more quick shot of neil lifer okay for me to button the story
35:38he along with a colleague at sports illustrated named heinz klutmeyer were the two top sports
35:44photographers in the world when i entered network television in 1974. that was 51 years ago and here
35:53he is still plying his craft an amazing human being and now antonio let's take a look at some of
36:02tfp mo's success here in the ring tonight okay it's that jab he's right hand solid
36:11another right he's just working
36:14throw that body shot right there very impressive very effective
36:20let's go let's go coach i still can't imagine how he lost to george cambosa maybe i just don't know
36:26enough about cambosa let's go let's go you know it it's one of those results that shocks me uh even
36:33now years later because you see the the amazing talent that this guy has yeah by all accounts jim teo
36:41had a bad training camp for that fight didn't take it seriously and i want to give him credit he dropped
36:47cambosa's late in that fight yeah he did drop him but uh cambosa is a talent as well here's a guy
36:54champion he's fought some big names he's not chopped liver he's a talent
37:01well said
37:04barbosa trying to get inside make something happen against teofimo lopez jim i think uh
37:10barbosa's best chance is just to uh exchange you know castillo out there reaching while he's coming
37:16in just like they when he landed that first effective shot he hit him with and cut his eye
37:20he needed exchange barbosa has a proven chin it's probably the right strategy for him to attempt
37:28let it rip
37:28now we're in round 10 of a schedule 12. so the minutes are running short arnold barbosa
37:40unless we are completely blind behind on the scorecards at this point yeah i've only given
37:45barbosa one round about eighth round when he landed that big right hand and he's not known for his power
37:51but he did hurt teo once already so i think he has to be more aggressive hurt him with a counter right hand
37:56so the best possible choice here would seem to be to mix up his punches invite action in return
38:02try to land another counter i think so with uh we're in the 10th round with the championship rounds
38:08you know upon us yeah he's going to have to get a knockdown or hurt teo some kind of way and he
38:14doesn't seem likely to get it by attacking he's he's straightforward and somewhat mechanical in his
38:21approach to attacking and teofimo's field can see it coming yeah i mean teofimo's reflexes are
38:27incredibly fast and i think that's been the difference in this fight i mean speed
38:31he was able to get in and get out
38:43it's a good fight they aren't lopsided grounds but at the end of the day they are rounds that
38:48teofimo is winning or so it seems to us well well said jim i think this is definitely a competitive
38:54fight competitive rounds and while i don't want to give barbosa one maybe the judges are giving him
38:59more credit we'll see but at the end of the day it's almost impossible to imagine barbosa
39:05winning a scorecard this diafimo is looking spectacular here tonight i'll say he need a
39:12knockout at least a knock down to pull close to this fight it's going to need something big 10 seconds
39:19it's time let's listen to barbosa's corner to see what strategy they might be cooking for the last
39:35two rounds okay let's go same thing okay we got two more rounds yep let's go okay let's go
39:42he's already frustrated son and he's done okay same thing okay be smart right here hey get him
39:53here and if he's there switch it here and over the top and then take that little step back okay very
39:58good when you got him closing the ropes and even even if you got him here even if you got him on the
40:06center constantly with the hands up nice and tight okay got two more rounds okay yep one run at a time
40:18both fighters trained by their fathers you heard arnold barbosa senior telling his son what he wants
40:25to do the last two rounds let's once again check in with the one-time heavyweight champion of the world
40:30mike tyson mike you've heard our call of the fight so far are you in agreement with us um it's a
40:36shutout i think and he's been looking magnificent i've never seen him look like this before pf emo
40:43you've really you've never never seen him look this way before no he's been proved he's been proved as
40:48a fighter quite a compliment he's starting to connect now that's the first time the right hand really hit
40:59solid like that he's been throwing it all night and don't forget right we have ryan garcia and
41:09devon haney both fighting after this i certainly think that motivated cf emo to be at his best man
41:14listen these guys all gonna have to show off tonight because this is the show that you do it all the big
41:20shots on tonight and they're division in it barboza is at a talent disadvantage against cf emo mike that's
41:33clear and barboza just don't know what to do with teo doing that in front of him he has no answers
41:39he needs to sell out but selling out is dangerous and his father told him he wants him to finish the
41:50fight when tia looks this good i don't know if there's anybody that can beat him certainly can't
41:56count him out ryan garcia i think that's a coin flip at best really i don't think ryan is active
42:10with his punches enough i don't think he has enough of that to stop tip fimo from what i'm seeing tonight
42:16i agree ryan garcia has tremendous qualities in some ways but i don't think he has as well
42:21rounded a boxing game as tfmo lopez and the one thing that he can win a fight against chile witness
42:32what about bevin haney would he have a chance now that would be a good chess match but again
42:38power i think will be in tfmo's favor so it looks tonight yep
42:45yeah stylistically i think haney's a tougher fight for tio than ryan garcia but we're gonna have to see
42:50how haney looks coming up here next against jose ramirez hell of a fight how much was taken away
42:57from devin haney by his disastrous experience one year ago against ryan garcia that's part of what
43:03we'll be looking to see in the next main event on the card jim you probably know more than me has it
43:11ever been a three-day span where we had this much talent stars and boxing champions around the world
43:18you probably might you probably have to go back to the 1950s uh and and go to the time when sugar
43:25ray robinson was fighting top opponents and uh fighters from the caribbean uh were coming up like
43:31amiel grippeth and fighters of that you probably have to go back to the gillette friday night fights don
43:37dunphy are of the 50s to find this much quality in this short a period of time so if i said this the super
43:43bowl weekend of boxing would you agree pretty much the super bowl weekend of boxing because we have
43:49the super bowl setting right here in times square and by the way last weekend ben versus uh yes so
43:57in two weeks in a row take a look at the score card to this point in the fight
44:02you have your score to this point yes jim i've only given barbosa one round i have t female up big
44:15and barbosa certainly in my opinion needs a knockout not just knockdowns what do you think two females
44:21going to come to try to finish the show or is a decision good enough for him tonight i absolutely
44:25think tia femo's coming to close the show that's the kind of fighter tio is and you see the look
44:31in his eyes now let's go i agree i think tia femo is a showman and i think that he might take a risk
44:39or two nothing irrational but press forward a little bit in this round to see if he can get a ko
44:46that would be nice he's landed a couple of big shots barbosa has shown a good chin
44:55i mean tia's just doing whatever he wants in there you see him turning barbosa going to the
45:06body the punch variety that boy quick man beautiful display of boxing
45:17footwork really brilliant footwork here tonight by tia femo
45:21he has skills in that area that most fighters will never match
45:30i think one of the best things to do tonight is that he's not staying in there too long
45:35he's getting in and he's getting right out barbosa landed a right hand
45:42this rhythm his rhythm tonight is on another level man like i said this is the best trio i've seen
45:47and i saw that claggett fight live and i didn't know what uh to we would see tonight but i'm so
45:53glad he showed up and showed up well it was an opponent who came right at him don't do that don't
45:58do that you're all right you're all right let's go
46:02and i want to say i don't think barbosa's fighting a bad fight i just think he's in there with somebody
46:07that's so much more talented and fast and stylistically wrong for him and to came to fight
46:12tonight he came to show up like i said he's at his best
46:19i have to assume that a lot of tio's friends and perhaps family members are in the audience arnold
46:24barbosa is from a long way away in california
46:32and there is motivation in knowing who's in the crowd
46:34he'll take a chance right now you just saw barbosa landed with a couple good shots
46:42teal is thinking knockout but increasingly appears he's not going to get it that was a terrific body
46:51shot with the left hand underneath the rib cage there's the left hand upstairs
46:57teal showing you all his skills in this 12th round
47:02they really is changing in the 12th round man teal still trying to put the exclamation point on this
47:07fight
47:11but he has swaggering confidence as he goes through the round he knows that he's probably
47:16well ahead in the fight he's landing the shots he wants to land he's going to walk away with a
47:22decision win and that's five arnold barbosa is a tough out
47:33when you get a win over an unbeaten fighter in this setting you have to be very satisfied with it
47:38and i think tefimo lopez is up for a celebration
47:46well the boxing keeps on coming on his own in another exciting fight that was just announced
47:51pound for pound great and wbc world superflyway champion jesse bam rodriguez is set to collide
47:57with a newly crowned wbo titleist fumalei lakafu in dallas texas
48:11all right antonio let's take a look at the highlights from tefimo lopez against arnold barbosa
48:17it seems to have been a showcase for lopez and his natural talent and consummate multiple skills
48:25yeah i thought arnold barbosa would come out and be able to control the distance in the center of the
48:29ring but that wasn't the case even though he had his moments it seemed like teofimo lopez was just one
48:35or two steps ahead all night long man he gave us defense he showed us footwork he really showed us
48:42why he's one of the best fighters in the world teofimo lopez it was a homecoming tonight and he
48:48took care of business i believe emphatically by beating an undefeated 38 and 0 opponent tonight
48:55in honor barbosa this highlight package began with barbosa's best punch of the fight a counter
49:02right hand which has left the mark under teofimo's left eye that's the only trophy it appears from here that
49:09barbosa is going to be taking home teofimo throwing 147 more punches landing 56 more punches
49:17jabs throwing 137 more and landing 16 more power punches swarming and swamping on barbosa 72 to 32.
49:32wow what can you say all those numbers tell you that he won the fight complete now let's go to michael
49:37buffer for the official decision tennis ladies and gentlemen after 12 rounds of boxing we go to
49:48the scorecards max deluca and eric malinsky scored 116 112 david sutherland has it 118 to 110
49:59all three to the winner by unanimous decision and still ringing wbo junior welder weight champion of the
50:10the world they are female the takeover
50:24the scorecards max deluca and by unanimous decision to win the victory and all of the
