00:20For Shane Douglas is scheduled for surgery on his right elbow this week, and there are
00:26some reports that his career may be over, and he's not the only one that suffered loss
00:34this past Sunday night, but a 1997 November to remember will go down in history as a night

01:46It's Xtreme!
02:11Hello, everyone, and welcome to Xtreme Championship Wrestling.
02:17I'm Joey Stiles with your postgame report for the 1997 November to Remember pay-per-view from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
02:25On October 16th in New York City, Bam Bam Bigelow won the ECW World Heavyweight title from Shane Douglas
02:33and dominated this promotion for six weeks like no one ever had.
02:38And no one, and I mean no one, thought anyone was going to take that title from Bam Bam Bigelow.
02:44But in front of his hometown, Shane Douglas, the most controversial athlete in ECW history,
02:51defeated Bam Bam Bigelow in an epic battle in front of the largest crowd in ECW history
02:58as over 4,200 fans paid to see Shane Douglas become a three-time World Heavyweight Champion
03:06via a victory over Bam Bam Bigelow at the 1997 November to Remember.
03:15Ever since he threw down the NWA World title in 1994, Shane Douglas has been on a championship tear,
03:23and both he and his head cheerleader, Francine, knew what was at stake when they entered the Golden Dome
03:29in Pittsburgh this past Sunday night to challenge Bam Bam Bigelow for the World Heavyweight title.
03:36Shane and Bigelow are no strangers to one another.
03:39They were teammates in the triple threat, and it was probably no surprise to the franchise
03:45that the 6'3", 350 or 60-pound beast from the East absolutely positively dominated on offense.
03:58Bam Bam bloodied and battered the franchise and proved to be invincible, invulnerable, indestructible,
04:07and quite possibly impervious to pain, even power-bombing Douglas through a cable at ringside
04:14as the franchise pulled out all stops.
04:17Finally, out of desperation, Shane Douglas went to work with kidney punch after kidney punch
04:23after kidney punch to Bigelow's side, but Bam Bam struck back,
04:29using Francine's crutch to break the right elbow of Shane Douglas,
04:34and it appeared that the franchise's title hopes were going down the drain in his hometown
04:40as Bigelow was going to power-bomb him through a chair and a table,
04:45but the franchise reversed, hit the belly-to-belly, and the 1-2-3
04:50to become a three-time DCW World Champion.
04:56It was apparent after the matchup that both competitors had suffered serious injuries.
05:00As a result of Shane Douglas' repeated kidney punches, the former champion Bam Bam Bigelow
05:06was puffing up blood and was taken to the hospital.
05:09He was undergoing tests.
05:11As of the production of this television show, initial reports were bruised kidneys perhaps even worse.
05:16The new champion, the franchise Shane Douglas, will require surgery on his right elbow
05:22as a result of the blow struck by Bam Bam Bigelow with Francine's crutch.
05:26Doctors immediately said his career may be over knowing the franchise Shane Douglas.
05:31It is very doubtful.
05:32One thing is for sure, neither man will ever be the same.
05:35The franchise is a three-time World Heavyweight Champion,
05:38but let's not forget the dominance of Bam Bam Bigelow.
05:42One day we're going to find out what those chairs did to him.
06:06One day we're going to find out what those chairs did to him.
06:10One day we're going to find out what those chairs did to him.
06:15Spike Dudley, a very young man who improves with each and every matchup.
06:19That's in the ring, of course, not psychologically.
06:25On August 9th, 1997, and born to be wired,
06:31Spike Dudley scored the biggest victory of his career.
06:34but he head-butted Bam Bam Bigelow in the groin
06:38and rolled up the big man for the one, two, three.
06:50Mikey Whitfresh, ECW's former Triple Crown winner
06:55and regular tag team partner of Spike Chun.
06:59This will be interesting.
07:02Two young men who trained together
07:04four to five times a week they travel together.

07:56We're in tonight at 188 pounds, from Buffalo, New York, Mikey Whiprock!
08:09Smaller wrestlers like Mikey and Spike usually rely on the element of surprise to put away larger opponents.
08:16I don't think there can be any surprises between tag team partners.
08:21There's a handshake.
08:26And this should be fun to watch.
08:37Collar and elbow tie-up.
08:43Spike back into the turnbuckle.
08:48Clean break by Mikey.
08:59Tie-up again.
09:02This time it's Mikey back into the corner.
09:06Clean break by Spike.
09:19Spike backed up again.
09:21Ivers quipball in the forearm. Tip-up out of the corner. Back the other way. Another tip-up. Spike gets caught.

11:12They are tag team partners.
11:14They train together four to five days a week.
11:16This may be all to it now.
11:22Spike showing great resiliency.
11:24Fertical suplex nicely executed.
11:32Mikey says that's it.
11:36Mikey now ascending the turnbuckle.
11:42He went for the Franken-Mikey and got caught.
11:46It was Spike Dudley who had Mikey well scouted on that one.
11:56Cover hook of the leg.
11:57Two and no.
12:00Both competitors have tried their favorite finisher
12:02only to be caught by their tag team partner.
12:07Reversal.
12:10Go behind by Spike.
12:12Mikey holds on.
12:14Watch the clothesline.
12:16Crash and kick to the side of the jaw.
12:22Spike gets the concrete and hard.
12:36Up and over goes Mike.
12:38Two young tag team partners pulling out all the stuff here for a victory at the ECW Arena.
12:48Mikey drops the forearm across the back of the neck.
12:58Spike slips out of the belly back.
13:00Suplex.
13:02Swinging top rope.
13:12Well, I think he calls that the acid drop.
13:14Cover to it.
13:16Spike gets the foot in the middle.
13:18I think he calls it at the acid drop.
13:20Cover to it.
13:24Spike Dudley had a surprise for Mikey Wipwreck.
13:26I stand corrected, and pulls a new finisher out of nowhere.
13:32And it corrected, and pulls a new finisher out of nowhere.
13:41Sunset flips.
13:43Mikey hooks both legs, two.
13:46That was close.
13:49Spike ducks the clothesline.
13:51Side-rushing leg sweep.
13:55Both of their heads bounced off the canvas.
14:02Spike Dudley now going up top.
14:05Mikey catches him.
14:15That is Mike...
14:17Oh, my God!
14:22That must be the whipper-stamper!
14:24Mikey Wiprec's new finisher!
14:27Mikey Wiprec!
14:31Mikey Wiprec wins this battle of tag team partners with an awesome new maneuver!
14:46The whipper-snapper!
14:49With Spike Dudley now using the acid drop and Mikey using the whipper-snapper, you may be looking at a young tag team that is destined to wear gold somewhere down the line here in extreme championship wrestling.
15:04Perhaps the most exciting element in all of professional sports is the upset. The victory that nobody sees coming. How about the Miracle Mets of 1969? You gotta believe.
15:19How about USA Olympic hockey over the Ruskies? Do you believe in miracles? How about Buster Douglas over Mike Tyson? Some people in Las Vegas cleaned up on that fight.
15:34Perhaps like no one else in sports history, Mikey Wiprec deserves the title of the upset kid.
15:52Former Triple Crown winner here in ACW.
15:54But recently, he has been challenged for that title by 23-year-old sensation, Just Incredible.
16:00Jason's new charge created an international incident in Queens, New York City, when he defeated the great Sasuke with his awesome finisher, That's Incredible.
16:11And that's all the inspiration Mikey Wiprec needed going in to the November to remember 1997. He put his walls on the line against Just Incredible, who was on such a winning streak, that Just Incredible was considered the favorite.
16:24But in the end, it was Mikey with that whipper-snapper!
16:28And if you're wondering where he got the idea for that finisher, he has always fared well at the November to remember.
16:34In fact, back in 1995, he was the ECW World Heavyweight Champion, and nobody gave him a snowball's chance in hell when he put that title on the line against the Stone Cold Challenge of an ECW newcomer named Steve Austin.
16:51Remember this?
16:59The Stevester dropped the leg!
17:01Cover!
17:03Cover!
17:04One, two, and Mikey kicks out!
17:06That lame-ass trap ain't gonna get it done here!
17:09Mikey threw it up and over the top rope!
17:13He hits the steel guard ramp!
17:15Austin finally takes off his shirt!
17:22Looks to be in great shape for somebody who had a four-month layoff with a torn tricep!
17:28Mikey once again dropped across the guard ramp!
17:34Steve Austin toyed with our World Heavyweight Champion!
17:38It would seem he is just moments away from becoming, finally, a World Heavyweight Champion!
17:46Reversal on the Irish Whip!
17:47But Austin fires back!
17:48Mikey now!
17:49Mikey!
17:50Mikey with left and right!
17:51Brown House Haymakers!
17:52And the extreme superstar is down!

20:03Sabu threw fire in the face of the Sandman, who seemingly had disappeared until his favorite
20:31month. And on Saturday night, November 8th, the extreme icon, three-time world heavyweight
20:37champion, the Sandman, returned to face Sabu.
20:44Ladder suplex!

21:57Remember!
24:31We'll dog one another in yet more violent incidents.
24:37The question now on everyone's mind is, what kind of toll will this take on both athletes?
24:44God, I love you, CWI.
24:56I love you, CWI.
24:58I love you, CWI.
25:02When Mr. Monday Night Rob Van Dam decided to wrestle with no pay in lieu of a suspension, we all thought he was nuts.
25:09Like any other sport, this is a business.
25:13But from that point on, it became apparent that Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation were footing the bill for this truly remarkable athlete.
25:22Al Stowe has got Alfonso.
25:26Stop with that whistle, strike me nuts.
25:28If you don't stop blowing that whistle, I'll shove it up your and I'm going to kick you.
25:32Van Dam Dam dropkick, Al Stowe in the back of the knee.
25:39Mr. Monday Night all over Al Stowe.
25:42Corkscrew leg drop.
25:43Al Stowe has been teetering on the brink of a nervous breakdown for Monk here at ECW.
25:53And that whistle isn't helping matters.
25:56Both feet in the face of Stowe.
26:02Irish whip, leapfrogged by Van Dam.
26:12Whitleg and dropped out.
26:14He takes a boot right to the head.
26:18Standing dropkick.
26:22Al Stowe tells referee John Finnegan to get out of his way.
26:29Springboard senton splash to the outside.
26:31No one can deny that Al Stowe is a great wrestler.
26:40Size, speed, ability, ring generalship.
26:44He just always seems to come up just a little short.
26:56He connected with that chair.
26:58Man Dam thrown back in.
27:07Man Dam thrown back in.
27:18Al Stowe just picking his shots right now.
27:21Irish whip.
27:24Takes down Mr. Monday Night.
27:25Who is he talking to?
27:33Leg drop.
27:33Battle of press.
27:36Two in.
27:37Well placed forearm.
27:50Make it through to the lower back of Rob Van Dam.
27:53German suplex nicely done.
27:58No bridge.
27:59Who is he talking to?
28:08Then he covers his ears as if whoever it is answers him back.
28:17Al Stowe picking up Van Dam.
28:19What a power ball.
28:32I bet right now Van Dam does wish it was Monday night.
28:35And the fans here at New York City loving the beating that Van Dam is taking at the hands of Al Stowe.
28:54Another power bomb coming up.
28:56Another power bomb coming up.
28:57The fans wanted it.
29:01No.
29:01Rob Van Dam with the reverse victory roll counter.
29:13Side kick.
29:14Way to the point of the jaw.
29:15Nicely done.
29:16And Van Dam to the outside.
29:31Van Dam hits the steal.
29:38Al Stowe was just talking to the table.
29:41Am I the only one who saw that?
29:43Van Dam slips off the guard rail.
29:47Wides up crotching himself.
29:51Now Al Stowe tries it.
29:53Alfonso shakes the guard rail.
29:55And Stowe gets crotched.
30:05This doesn't look good.
30:06And must feel even worse for Al Stowe.
30:26My God, Alfonso is as ugly as Stowe is crazy.
30:29Stowe takes a boot right to the mouth.
30:45Van Dam apparently may have jammed his hand or his thumb at some point during this matchup.
30:49To get a hold of this kid.
30:51They're ready for a dribble overnight.
30:59Van Dam all over Snow on the outside.
31:01Van Dam all over Snow on the outside.
31:01Van Dam all over Snow on the outside.
31:03Van Dam all over Snow on the outside.
31:08Is Snow feeling the effects of that slingshot leg drop?
31:15Or are those the internal voices I hear screaming at him?
31:32Al Snow thrown back in.
31:34Mr. Monday night, Rob Van Dam now on the attack.
31:47Two forearms and a spinning back leg kick to the face.
31:57Rob Van Dam changes direction in midair.
32:00Unbelievable two.
32:01Two count only.
32:02Al Snow able to get the left shoulder up.
32:17Snow's there for the ride.
32:18No reversal.
32:18Hangs on.
32:21The forearm right to the head.
32:23Again, Al Snow covering his ears.
32:26What is he hearing?
32:26Right now, he's hearing that whistle.
32:36Alfonso calling Al Snow a choke artist, I think.
32:39Snow going out after Phil Alfonso.
32:46Baseball slide.
32:47Al Snow winds up in the first row.
32:50He never saw Rob Van Dam coming.
32:52Plus, he's hearing internal voices, so I doubt he heard Rob Van Dam coming.
33:00In football, you hear footsteps.
33:03Al Snow can't even hear them.
33:08Van Dam tried to drop a leg and got caught.
33:11They've got a fist fight on Queens Boulevard.
33:24Clothesline and Rob Van Dam troubles over the steel door rail back to ringside.
33:29Van Dam and Snow back in the ring.
33:45Van Dam ducks the clothesline.
33:47It's a spinning heel kick.
33:49This is anyone's match-up.
34:00Cover by Van Dam to it.
34:03Great nonchalant lateral press.
34:06There's the cockiness of young Mr. Van Dam's shining crew.
34:14Scoop and a slam.
34:15Rob Van Dam making sure we all know his name.
34:22Up to the top turnbuckle in one fell swoop.
34:24Nicely done.
34:26Great agility.
34:27Hurts like a cat on the top turnbuckle.
34:33What elevation on the front splash.
34:36But Van Dam may have knocked the wind out of himself as well.
34:39Lateral press.
34:40Cover to Edno.
34:41Again, no hook with the leg and Al Snow kicks out.
34:49But still finds himself on the receiving end of several boots.
34:58Irish whip reversed out of the corner.
35:01Al Snow runs into a boot.
35:08Northern lights bar.
35:10Rob Van Dam gets planted.
35:13Snow didn't spike Van Dam the way he wanted to.
35:20Cover.
35:22And that whistle is driving Snow crazy.
35:26Well, it's adding to the problem anyway.
35:28Al Snow must drive himself.
35:38Just looking in the mirror with that rocker signal on.
35:43Who wants to relive that?
35:46That's what's driving him crazy.
35:48I would...
35:48There's the Northern Lights bomb.
35:51That's how Al Snow wants to hit it.
35:53That's how he needs to hit it.
35:54This may be all for Mr. Mundane.
35:58No.
35:59That whistle.
36:00That whistle preventing Al Snow from putting away Rob Van Dam.
36:05He had Van Dam beat.
36:08Al Bonzo running for his life.
36:10Al Snow after him.
36:14That's Sabu.
36:16That is Sabu.
36:18We've got to take a break.
36:21Sabu has entered the break.
36:26We are back.
36:28Van Dam and Sabu are on the top turnbuckle.
36:32One of those voices told Al Snow to get off the table.
36:36And he did it.
36:38Van Dam and Sabu missed.
36:40Can Al Snow capitalized?
36:56All three men are down.
36:58Al Snow crawling towards Rob Van Dam.
37:01Lateral press.
37:02To it.
37:03Van Dam barely gets the right shoulder up.
37:06Sabu misses. He gets caught.
37:21The Van Daminator missed, but Al Snow did not with that steel chair.
37:29There's the Van Daminator. Snow turned around.
37:33He was looking at Sabu and got caught with the Van Daminator.
37:36The Van Daminator missed, but Al Snow just can't catch a break.
37:55He grew up just a few minutes away from Mike Tyson, and this past Sunday night, he acted a lot like him.
38:02Taz, the human suplex machine, defended the ECW World Television Championship against pit bull number two
38:10and forced the 275-pound challenger to tap out within a minute and a half.
38:16But Lance Wright had another surprise for Taz as he brought along with him a huge monster,
38:23a personal bodyguard bought, paid for, and delivered by Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation.
38:31But when security stepped in between the two, Taz exploded in a fit of rage and choked the hapless security guard out.
38:40Welcome back to Extreme Championship Wrestling at Sunday night's pay-per-view.
38:46Mr. Monday Night Rob Van Dam with Bill Alfonso collided with ECW's Innovator of Violence, Tommy Dreamer,
38:53with Buell McGillicuddy in a flag match.
38:56The match saw Dreamer bust open Rob Van Dam.
39:00Bill Alfonso saved Mr. Monday Night by beating up referee John Peewee Moore.
39:06Jeff Jones attacked both referees, Jim Molyneux and John Finnegan.
39:14Molyneux and Finnegan get their revenge on Jones.
39:20Bill Alfonso attacked those two outstanding officials.
39:25And Vula take out Alfonso.
39:29We saw Tommy Dreamer block the attempted interference of Doug Furness and Phil LaFont.
39:36Only to be blindsided by, of all people, Stevie Richards.
39:45And then get creamed by Mr. Monday Night Rob Van Dam.
39:50With no referees left standing, Doug Furness, Bill LaFont, and Stevie Richards
39:58countered the pinfall on Tommy Dreamer.
40:00ECW ring announcer Bob Ortiz refused to announce Rob Van Dam as the winner.
40:06So Bill Alfonso made the announcement for us.
40:10But the worst was yet to come.
40:13As Tommy Dreamer, live on pay-per-view, on ECW's biggest night, was buried under the flag of the World Wrestling Federation.
40:27There's a lot of people to blame for this disgusting, revolting, heinous...
40:36I'm losing my objectivity here.
40:44And I don't feel I should apologize for it.
40:49It's justified.
40:51Tommy Dreamer would defend ECW with his life.
40:56wrestling with a separated shoulder and a broken heel and an iron cast against doctor's orders.
41:04To be buried underneath the flag of the war...
41:06Until next week, thanks for joining us on ECW with Joey Stuntz.
41:12Saw him, Doug.
41:18I feel the need in my heart to address my audience, my public, and, you know, especially my fans.
41:34For the past five months, I've been in World Championship Wrestling.
41:40And while I was down there, I got to do a lot of thinking.
41:46And, you know, I thought about a lot of things going on while I was down there.
41:51And the one thing that really stuck out in my mind more than anything was June 7th at Wrestlepalooza.
42:00Because that was the night I was supposed to wrestle Terry Funk for the World Heavyweight title.
42:07And I was unable to wrestle due to a severe neck injury.
42:12So I walked out there that night, not to wrestle Terry, but just go out there and, you know, wish him luck in the match.
42:20And for that matter, it was Chris Candido, luck in the match too.
42:27And when I got out there, I couldn't believe the chants that I was getting.
42:33You know, standing in the middle of the ring ready to tell the people to pour my heart out to them.
42:36And they were chanting things like, you know, go home, whatever.
42:45I don't even know what they were chanting after that.
42:47It had me in shock.
42:49It had me just totally taken off guard.
42:52So I left for WCW and then those chants that I got that night were picked up by chants of you sold out and slap, slap, slap.
43:09And just a bunch of things that, I mean, really, really got to me.
43:13It just hit me right here, right in my heart.
43:18And I was just thinking about all that stuff.
43:22And, you know, I realized it's just chance and everything.
43:26And finally, after thinking about it for five months, I came to the conclusion.
43:36I came to the conclusion that, you know, I'm better.
43:47Because when you're a superstar, let me rephrase that.
43:54When you're the superstar of professional wrestling, you don't let little things like that get to you.
44:05You don't get little, you know, petty anger and trifle things.
44:11There's things that shouldn't bother such a superstar such as myself.
44:17So as far as I'm concerned about your inconsequential opinions,
44:24which really don't matter to me because, of course, I am a superstar.
44:31The one opinion that matters to me is, of course, mine.
44:42And my opinion about you people right at this moment is,
44:48you know, you know what, I forgive you.
44:54I forgive you.
44:55You know, it's water under the bridge.
44:57It's all cool.
44:59I forgive you.
45:02The superstar, Stevie Richards,
45:05finds it in his heart
45:07not only do I forgive you,
45:17I bless you.
45:23I bless you because not only do you want it,
45:29not only do you need it,
45:33but I know
45:35that you crave it.
45:41Wow, you know, I'm so cool
45:43to not only forgive you,
45:46but at the same time
45:47to bless you.
45:49It's cool.
45:53God, I feel so much better now.
45:56And you know what?
45:58Don't think nothing of it.
45:59You're welcome.
46:01The pleasure
46:01was all mine.
46:06God, this is great.
46:08I mean, I'm just so...
