00:00In a bold display of India's growing air power and strategic preparedness,
00:14the Indian Air Force successfully conducted an unprecedented air show
00:18and emergency landing exercise on the Ganga Expressway near Shah Jahanpur on Friday.
00:24This marks a significant milestone in integrating national infrastructure with defence capability.
00:32The 3.5-kilometre stretch of the under-construction Ganga Expressway,
00:37developed as an emergency landing facility, witnessed high-speed landings and take-offs
00:43by frontline fighter jets, transport aircraft and helicopters of the IAF.
00:49This is the first such facility in India that is capable of supporting night operations,
00:56significantly enhancing military mobility during emergencies such as war or natural disasters.
01:04The event featured a full spectrum of the IAF's operational might.
01:09Aircraft involved included the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI, Mirage 2000, MiG-29 and Jaguar fighter jets,
01:18each conducting touch-and-go maneuvers to demonstrate their ability to operate from civilian infrastructure.
01:26The IAF also deployed the C-130J Super Hercules, known for its short take-off and landing capabilities,
01:35along with the AN-32 military transport aircraft and MI-17 V-5 helicopters
01:41for troop insertion simulations and logistic support displays.
01:46A highlight of the exercise was the participation of the Rafale fighter jets,
01:51India's newest and most advanced combat aircraft,
01:56which underscored the IAF's readiness to respond swiftly from any part of the country,
02:02including highways and expressways if required.
02:06Senior IAF officials emphasised that the drill was not merely ceremonial,
02:11but served to test critical operational procedures such as coordinated air traffic control,
02:18runway safety protocols and rapid mobilisation of assets.
02:23It also evaluated the structural integrity of the aircraft
02:27to handle the stress of high-speed aircraft operations.
02:32The Ganga Expressway, once completed, will be the longest expressway in India,
02:36stretching 594 kilometres between Merat and Prayagraj.
02:41This strategic corridor not only promises to revolutionise connectivity across Uttar Pradesh,
02:47but now also serves a dual purpose,
02:50offering a reliable platform for military use during times of national crisis.
