02:06Now, Inside Edition with Deborah Norville.
02:10Hello, everybody, and thank you for joining us.
02:12The man who fell from a 21-foot high wall during last night's Pirates-Cubs game remains in critical condition today.
02:20The accident happened in the seventh inning, and players went from running the bases to praying that the fan would be okay.
02:26Les Trent with the very latest on this day of horror at the ballpark.
02:29Get up the middle.
02:33Chilling new details are emerging about a baseball fan's horrific fall from his seat onto the warning track.
02:39Well, someone fell.
02:40Oh, someone must have fallen from up above.
02:44That is just awful.
02:46A distraught friend leaped into the stadium to help his stricken buddy and had to be held back as Pittsburgh Pirates medical staff rushed to his aid.
02:55Say some prayers.
02:56The fan fell from this section of PNC Park.
03:00This is where he was seated, and this is that drop, 21 feet onto the warning track.
03:06Players watched horrified as the drama unfolded, some of them openly praying.
03:11The fan appeared to leap out of his seat and somersault over the front row railing.
03:16He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
03:19A witness says,
03:21I was sitting five rows behind him.
03:23He jumped up so quick, he literally propelled himself off the ledge.
03:27He didn't do it on purpose, and no one pushed him.
03:30He was reportedly at the game with his buddy and two female companions.
03:34It's not known if drinking was involved.
03:37Hi-Rits coach Derek Shelton spoke about the fall.
03:40It's extremely unfortunate.
03:42I mean, that's an understatement.
03:44The Pirates acknowledged the tragedy at today's game, asking fans to keep him and his loved ones in our prayers.
03:51Major League Baseball has improved safety procedures at many ballparks.
03:55Some franchises actually limit the amount of alcohol consumption.
03:59Some have raised the height of safety railings and installed more netting.
04:05But still, tragedies have happened.
04:08This Texas Rangers fan reached for a foul ball for his son and fell to his death.
04:13This 10-year-old plunged 30 feet in Philadelphia, but was miraculously unharmed.
04:19Now, another fan has taken a terrifying fall.
04:23Since 1969, there have been 25 deaths from falls at Major League Baseball games.
04:30Today is May 1st, the start of American Stroke Month.
04:34800,000 people have strokes every year here in the United States, and this teacher is one of them.
04:39She was in her apartment when she collapsed, and she had no idea she was having a stroke.
04:45She spoke with Allison Hall about her very scary medical emergency.
04:49It's an ordinary morning for this schoolteacher.
04:52Suddenly, she loses her balance and topples over, falling right in to address her.
04:58Her dog comes over to see what's wrong.
05:0138-year-old Krista Figari is unable to get up.
05:04Her whole left side is paralyzed.
05:06She doesn't know it, but she's just had a stroke.
05:10It was like a very scary moment.
05:12Krista tells me she was helpless.
05:14Could you reach for your phone?
05:15No, because I'm lefty, and my left arm and leg were unable to,
05:21so that's why I was trying to push up with my right hand.
05:24Then Krista realized she could use Siri, her iPhone's voice-controlled app.
05:29I said, Siri, please call 911.
05:31At the hospital in Manhattan, Krista was told she'd had a stroke.
05:35That was kind of surprising because I associate strokes with people who are older.
05:41I'm a pretty healthy, active person, so it was the last thing I ever would have thought was happening.
05:46A similar medical crisis is about to hit this 57-year-old man.
05:51Look, he's so fit he's trying to break his personal record,
05:55jumping rope for over a minute without a mistake.
05:58Everything is going fine in the workout in his driveway in Toledo, Ohio.
06:03But after 75 seconds, suddenly his legs buckle.
06:09He hits the ground.
06:10He can't move his left arm and leg.
06:13But get this, his Apple Watch detects something is wrong and asks if he needs help.
06:18He reaches over with his right hand to tap yes.
06:22911 is notified, and within minutes, paramedics arrive.
06:26So I was in real trouble.
06:27And here is financial advisor Derek Gantt today.
06:30I was in good shape.
06:32I was eating properly.
06:33I was working out.
06:34So what happened?
06:35He says he stopped taking his blood thinner medication.
06:38What my neurologist told me is that when people are jumping rope,
06:42they tend to hold their breath and it builds up pressure.
06:45And so that pressure threw a clot, and that's what happened to me.
06:50New York neuropsychologist Dr. Sanam Hafiz.
06:53Every minute counts after a stroke starts.
06:57The faster you get help, the faster doctors can intervene,
07:00the faster you get your brain health back.
07:02And when it comes to strokes, it's important to remember the word fast.
07:06Face droops, arms drift downward, speech slurs, and then time is of the essence.
07:11You've got to call 911.
07:13Christmas may still be seven months away, but if you've got little kids in your world,
07:16you might want to pick up some Christmas toys right now
07:18because even President Trump is admitting there may be fewer gifts under the tree this year
07:23thanks to tariffs.
07:24Amber Cagliano reports.
07:27Brace yourself.
07:28There might be far fewer presents under the Christmas tree this year.
07:32President Trump is telling the nation's families make do with less.
07:36Maybe the children will have two dolls instead of $30, you know,
07:40and maybe the two dolls will cost a couple of bucks more than they would normally.
07:43A whopping 80% of all toys sold in the United States are made in China.
07:50And with a 145% tariff on imports, toy factories have pretty much halted all shipments.
07:56So these toy shelves could be empty pretty soon.
08:00It's going to be bleak. It's going to be bleak.
08:02Jennifer Bergman owns Westside Kids in Manhattan,
08:06and she says customers are already panicking.
08:09They're worried about whether or not they're going to be able to get the toys that they want.
08:13The kids are going to have lists that they're not going to be able to fulfill.
08:16Santa's not going to have anywhere to shop.
08:18Her most popular toy, a scooter that sells right now for $140,
08:22could end up costing $400.
08:25And her doll supplier has already pulled the plug.
08:29This is all I have left, what you see on the shelves.
08:31And once these are gone, they're gone.
08:34President Trump called into a News Nation town hall last night,
08:37and co-host Bill O'Reilly asked him a question from a viewer.
08:41What's the biggest mistake you think you've made in the first 100 days?
08:44I'll tell you, that's the toughest question I can have,
08:47because I don't really believe I've made mistakes.
08:49You've made any mistakes.
08:50We're in a transition.
08:51Well, that didn't go over so well.
08:54Meanwhile, Kamala Harris is back.
08:56The former presidential candidate used that now viral video of elephants at the San Diego Zoo
09:02protecting their young during an earthquake to go after Trump.
09:06What a powerful metaphor, because we know those who try to incite fear
09:14are most effective when they divide and conquer, when they separate the herd.
09:25But get this, despite all the controversy from his first 100 days in office,
09:29a new CNN poll finds he'd still win.
09:33He still, across the polls, scores a higher percentage than Kamala Harris.
09:38The pollster found that while 40% of Americans are worried about the rest of Trump's term,
09:42Democrats have a lot of work to do to gain any advantage at the polls.
09:46Six-time Super Bowl winning coach Bill Belichick and his much younger girlfriend Jordan
09:50continue to have people talking.
09:52And among those was something to say, his daughter-in-law,
09:55who is critical of Jordan for stopping the Belichick interview because she didn't like a question.
10:01Coach Bill Belichick's own family is now weighing in on that train wreck interview
10:06that people can't stop talking about.
10:08Belichick's daughter-in-law is taking aim at 24-year-old Jordan Hudson without using her name,
10:14writing,
10:14Publicists act in a professional manner and don't storm off set delaying an interview.
10:19Jennifer is married to Steve Belichick, who is also a coach at the University of North Carolina.
10:25She was referring to reports that Jordan walked out of the CBS interview in a huff
10:29and also delayed the interview several times.
10:33Jordan was a constant presence during our interview.
10:36The drama started when newsman Tony DeCoppo asked about the May-December romance.
10:41You have Jordan right over there.
10:44Everybody in the world seems to be following this relationship.
10:47They've got an opinion about your private life.
10:49It's got nothing to do with them, but they're invested in it.
10:52How do you deal with that?
10:54I've never been too worried about what everybody else thinks.
10:57Just try to do what I feel like is best for me and what's right.
11:00How did you guys meet?
11:01Not talking about this.
11:03No?
11:04No.
11:04Belichick released this statement.
11:06I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced.
11:10After this occurred several times,
11:11Jordan, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship,
11:15stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion.
11:19But CBS News says,
11:20When we agreed to speak with Mr. Belichick, it was for a wide-ranging interview.
11:24There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation.
11:28This was confirmed repeatedly with his publisher before the interview took place and after it was completed.
11:34Belichick's friend, sportscaster Charles Barkley, is weighing in.
11:38I will admit, I'm a little concerned with some of the stuff that's going on.
11:43And I might actually reach out to him and make sure everything's good.
11:47But I am concerned from what I'm hearing.
11:49It's not a good look right now.
11:51I'm not talking about this.
11:53Though UNC released the statement attributed to Belichick,
11:56the university itself has not commented on the interview snafu
11:59or any impact it might have on his upcoming stint as head football coach.
12:03A big scare for a family after a two-year-old girl is pulled from a pool without a pulse.
12:09Officers ran to the scene.
12:10But it was really emotional for one first responder,
12:13the one doing chest compressions, because he himself is a father.
12:16Stephen Fabian has details.
12:18A two-year-old girl falls into a pool.
12:21She's at the brink of death.
12:22They've got a pediatric drowning on their way there.
12:25Police race to the scene and begin child CPR.
12:28Witnesses tell them they don't think the toddler will make it.
12:31But the cops in Doral, Florida aren't giving up.
12:33An officer pounds her back.
12:36Then she's turned over so that chest compressions can be administered.
12:39When you got there, describe the girl's condition.
12:42She had no pulse.
12:44Her lips were purple.
12:45Her skin, she was pale.
12:47And she was not reacting to anything that we were doing.
12:50She wasn't alive at the time.
12:51Then a miracle.
12:53All at once, she's gasping for air.
12:55What was that moment like when you finally heard that gasp?
12:58It was life-changing.
12:59It was truly a miracle.
13:01The little girl is rushed to an emergency vehicle where paramedics continue the resuscitation effort.
13:07And here's Kaylanas today.
13:09Her dad is holding the cutie pie as the family is reunited with the heroes who saved her life.
13:15After a rescue like this, I think he's due for a promotion.
13:18What do you think?
13:19Yeah, I mean, listen, he's a superstar.
13:22So glad she's okay.
13:23By the way, 6,500 children end up in the hospital every year for non-fatal pool-related injuries.
13:30That is wrestling icon Hulk Hogan on TV this morning with a crazy new look that had a lot of people scratching their heads.
13:37Tell us what it's about.
13:38It's going to be crazy, brother.
13:39Is this really Hulk Hogan?
13:41The former wrestling great is turning heads with his new dyed brown stubble under his trademark white horseshoe mustache.
13:50So what's she going to do?
13:52The reaction is wild.
13:54Hulk hobo goes this social media comment.
13:57This is how the 71-year-old Hulkster used to look.
14:01Now he's got a whole makeover, at least for now.
14:05So what's she going to do?
14:07Hogan's promoting a new sports venture.
14:09It's Real American Freestyle Wrestling.

17:14She was dubbed the real-life Gone Girl after she admitted she faked her own kidnapping.
17:19And now Sherry Papini is back in the headlines claiming that she was kidnapped.
17:24She's agreed to take a lie detector test to prove it.
17:27Jim Marais has details.
17:28Sherry Papini, the so-called perfect wife who admitted in court she staged her own kidnapping,
17:34is out with a stunning new claim.
17:36She really was abducted and tortured.
17:39I'm Sherry Papini.
17:40I was abducted and I was tortured and the FBI said I made it all up.
17:45She's even taking a polygraph in an attempt to back up her ever-changing story.
17:49In the new documentary, Sherry Papini Caught in the Lie.
17:53I'm willing to do whatever it takes.
17:55Papini's shocking about face comes after the mom of two pleaded guilty in 2022 to staging her own abduction.
18:04She served 11 months in jail.
18:06Papini vanished while jogging in 2016, sparking a nationwide hunt.
18:11She reappeared three weeks later, bruised and branded, claiming the injuries were the work of kidnappers.
18:16Her ex-boyfriend, James Reyes, has admitted to helping Sherry run away and stage her injuries.
18:22He was never charged.
18:23Papini is currently embroiled in a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband, Keith.
18:28In March, she wept in court as she heard him describe her as an unfit mom.
18:33She should not be in one of the children.
18:35She harmed her own body to fake a kidnapping.
18:39In the new documentary, Papini throws her ex-husband under the bus.
18:43In pictures, it looks perfect.
18:46Like we were an amazing couple.
18:48We both participated in some pretty toxic behaviors.
18:51Attorney Royal Oak says her wild new claims could have a big impact on her custody battle.
18:57These new claims are likely to backfire big time.
19:00The judge is going to look askance at this and say, does she have any credibility?
19:04Can I really believe her?
19:05Would she be a fit mother?
19:07Now she's taking a lie detector test.
19:09I really challenge anybody watching this film, how truthful are you?

28:45And finally, today, a mother and daughter were headed to the local Michael's craft store, and the daughter said she wanted to pick up some things so she could learn to crochet.
28:59But the way she said it left her mom in stitches.
29:02What do you want to go to Michael's for?
29:04I want to go for crotcheting.
29:06I want to try it.
29:08What's wrong with crotcheting?
29:10Do you even know what crotcheting is?
29:13I don't think I do.
29:15It's like sewing.
29:17It's where you use thicker yarn, and you can make blankets and two little stuffed animals like this.
29:25What is it called?
29:27Crotcheting.
29:27I have been crotcheting since I was nine years old.
29:32That is Inside Edition for today.
29:35We'll see you next time.
