00:00Hello. It may be cooling off for the weekend, but there'll still be plenty of dry and fine weather to be enjoyed.
00:07One or two heavy showers breaking out through this afternoon.
00:10The view from space shows a big gap in the cloud out to the west.
00:15That's the chunky area of high pressure, which will continue to control our weather.
00:20But it is producing a shift in the wind direction.
00:23We've got weather fronts pushing their way across southern areas.
00:26That'll be the focus for some cloud bubbling up through the day today and the chance of some thundery showers come this afternoon.
00:33There's a few showers drifting in across the Highlands and the Northern Isles too.
00:36A brisk westerly breeze blowing here.
00:39Some cloud over southern Scotland to Northern Ireland, but mostly dry and fine.
00:43Sunny spells for a good chunk of England and Wales.
00:46But notice across the south, just the potential for some thundery showers breaking out this afternoon from Salisbury Plain in and around the London area.
00:55They'll be very hit and miss, but where they do occur, they could turn into quite lively downpours, as temperatures could in the capital get up to 27 Celsius.
01:03So it's not as warm as yesterday, but still very warm for the time of year.
01:07Already, though, it has turned cooler further north, but still feeling pretty pleasant with temperatures in the high teens and some sunshine over northern England.
01:14Those isolated but heavy showers across the southeast should fizzle out slowly through the evening, but don't get caught out.
01:22It could produce some wet conditions, particularly on some roads, as many people head away for the bank holiday weekend.
01:27Some patchy rain will dribble south across Scotland and Northern Ireland through the night.
01:31More showers will come into northern Scotland.
01:33Notice the wind has changed now.
01:34We've got the northerly winds coming in, and that will bring all of us a cooler feel as we go through the weekend.
01:40Still quite a warm night across the south, double digits in towns and cities, but it is steadily turning cooler.
01:45The misty conditions around some of the south coast areas through today will linger into the morning, but clear away.
01:53There is the potential for these heavy showers just to drift north and affect the far south of England at times.
01:59Certainly likely to affect the Channel Isles through the mornings, but they may well stay offshore.
02:04A few scattered showers coming in as the breeze switches into the northerly direction, bringing that cooler feel for the vast majority.
02:11Still quite warm across the south, if I'm honest. Temperatures could still again get into the mid-20s potentially with some sunshine.
02:17But elsewhere, we're looking at mid-teens at best and feeling cooler if you're exposed to this northerly wind for sure.
02:24So quite a few coasts will be even quite fresh, I suspect, by Saturday evening.
02:28And that cooler feel continues as that northerly wind continues to push down as we head through Saturday night and into Sunday.
02:35All thanks to that high pressure, just subtly shifting position, bringing down the winds from the north, pushing away that weather front into northern France,
02:44but introducing these winds, as I say, coming down from the north.
02:47So if we rewind the clock and look at that breeze, you can see it pushing in the cooler air further south as we go through Saturday and more noticeably by the time we get to Sunday.
02:58So particularly these North Sea coasts are going to feel quite fresh, I suspect, on Sunday.
03:01It's where these winds are coming down from the North Sea that we'll see more cloud bubbling up and a few showers too.
03:08So eastern England, northeastern parts of Scotland could see some showers coming and going on Sunday.
03:13Nothing too heavy for sure, but many western areas will be dry and bright.
03:17A fine looking day actually, but you will notice that drop in temperatures.
03:21We've been talking about temperatures in the mid to high 20s.
03:24We're looking at struggling into the teens in many places and we may stay in single figures on some of those North Sea coasts,
03:30but pleasant enough in southwest England and much of Wales, 15, 16 degrees in the sunshine.
03:36Come Monday, it's a similar story.
03:38Perhaps a few more showers just getting into East Anglia in the southeast,
03:41but many places again looking dry on a Monday and perhaps something a bit brighter for eastern parts of Scotland.
03:48So not as much in the way of cloud here and lighter winds will have quite an impact.
03:52And temperatures jumping up quite a bit in Edinburgh, for example.
03:54Again, though, many places much closer to the average for early May into the low teens rather than the mid to high 20s
04:02that we've been seeing through this week.
04:03So it is turning cooler, but still a lot of fine weather to be had this weekend.
