00:00And we are back from Coast to Coast here on a Wednesday, a Golf Wednesday on C2C.
00:04Keith Stewart from Read the Line is with us, as always, getting ready for the CJ Cup, Byron Nelson, TPC, Craig Ranch, getting ready.
00:11We already know Siwoo Kim is on the card.
00:13I love to hear that because he's on mine as well.
00:15And how about another guy who's on my card, same as yours, Jake Afternoon Nap.
00:21Give me the rest of the guys you got.
00:23You know, it's tough to read the same mail when we're both taking an afternoon nap, but Jake Nap is where I'm going.
00:30Third at the Zurich last week.
00:31Last year, he was eighth at the CJ Cup.
00:34You know, six of his last eight starts, Mike, have been top 30s.
00:37He's been really consistent.
00:38And the reason being is that the approach game's been solid and the putter's been solid.
00:42The next guy I'm going with, much further down the board, I mean, we had Taylor Pendereth last year at triple digits.
00:47Cage, Lee's Weiss at triple digits.
00:49You got to have some long shots here.
00:52And the first guy I'm going with is Braveheart 2.
00:55That's right, Sir Matt Wallace, right?
00:5712th to Corrales, 26th to Puerto Rico.
00:59And I bring those up basically because they're comps, right?
01:03They're long golf courses where you need a ton of birdies, like Detroit Golf Club.
01:06You look at Matt Wallace's resume at all those places, it's really solid, Mike.
01:11Right?
01:11Fourth at the CJ Cup here last year.
01:14The guy is an absolute birdie machine when the golf course extends past 9,000, 10,000 yards.
01:19And then, of course, we got to go with the flying fin, Sammy Valamaki, right?
01:23I expect him flying from the trapeze as he comes in and probably steals the first-round leader title on Thursday.
01:30Fourth in Houston, 12th at Valero, and then 18th at RBC.
01:34And I was thinking to myself, this guy's playing in signature events?
01:38Nobody even knows who Sammy Valamaki is.
01:40He's 110 to 1.
01:42He's definitely further down the board.
01:44But Taylor Pendereth did it last year, and he's doing it with the same recipe.
01:47He can bomb it.
01:48He's a great iron player, very, very good with proximity to the hole, and he can putt.
01:53Sammy Valamaki finishes out my card on the outrights.
01:57Yeah, he's on with me, too, for the first-round leader.
02:00I'll be playing Sammy on Thursday because he's been a good Thursday guy,
02:03and he's been getting a lot better, as you just mentioned, throughout the entire weekend,
02:07getting himself some finishes.
02:08All right, how about the placements?
02:10Matt Hughes from up in Canada, plus 400, 10th place, top 10, 10th at Houston, a third at the RBC.
02:19You know, another good comp course here is the Sanderson Farms.
02:21You've got to hit it far off the tee there.
02:22You've got to score there, and it's definitely two things that Matt Hughes can do.
02:26He's very quietly put together a nice little last month, and I think he can score here.
02:30Top 20 guys, Rio Hisatsune.
02:33That name, it doesn't roll off the tongue, but he's been rolling in some nice leaderboard finishes, right?
02:38Fourth at the Valspar, fifth at the Valero.
02:41He was good, you know, there at the RBC.
02:44Again, here's a guy, really good on approach, and he's been scoring lately.
02:47That's the formula that we're looking for.
02:49Another kid, Michael Thorbjornson.
02:51Now, you remember PGA Tour U.
02:53Everybody loves to make a big deal about the kid.
02:55I know I do.
02:56Ludwig Oberg, right?
02:57Well, the guy after him, the next PGA Tour graduate that got his tour card was Michael Thorbjornson.
03:03This kid's a stud from Stanford.
03:05A lot of people are talking about Celinda.
03:06They're talking about Villas.
03:07This kid is just as good.
03:09He is a bomber, and we love that around this place, considering that they added some yardage, too.
03:14He was fourth at the Zurich, second at Corrales.
03:16Again, Corrales, a wonderful comp for this place.
03:19Top 40s.
03:19Henrik Norlander.
03:21This guy, the Swede, he's got one superpower.
03:24If he was an X-Men, he would just run around with a 5-iron.
03:26The guy is an absolutely exquisite long iron player, and it's been working out for him.
03:3212th at the Valero, 18th at Corrales.
03:34You know, we're not going to ask him to do a lot of other things, but he's getting 40 places at plus 137.
03:39Henrik Norlander.
03:40And then one more, Joseph Bramlett.
03:42He's a guy that tends to pop here at TPC Craig Ranch.
03:46He's going for a top 40 at plus 200.
03:48And you know what?
03:49He's a great, long par 4 player, and that's why he does so well here.
03:53We do have some head-to-head.
03:57We have one head-to-head this week.
03:58More Braveheart for you here on the card, Keith.
04:02Yes.
04:03And, Mike, you know what?
04:04I'm really disappointed in some of these books.
04:07They're downplaying.
04:09Well, I love the fact that I can do live ads all weekend.
04:12Let me just say that first with head-to-heads.
04:14But these tournament match-ups, they've been dwindling.
04:17Less and less books are posting them in time for Golf Wednesday, and I'm upset about it.
04:22I'm really not happy about it.
04:24But at the risk of upsetting, you know, the vibe here this afternoon and keeping the morale positive, right,
04:30I'm just going to take Matt Wallace over Alex Smalley.
04:32Alex Smalley, he's missed four of his last five cuts.
04:35The only cut he made was Corrales.
04:36It's a secondary event.
04:38He finishes T63.
04:39So I'm going with Wallace over Smalley.
04:41I like it.
04:43I'll be adding it quickly.
04:44Give me somebody for the ladies out at the Black Desert Championship.
04:47They're in Utah.
04:49All right.
04:49You'll remember this place from the fall.
04:51You and I were talking about it.
04:52The men were there in October.
04:53The ladies are here in April.
04:55The Brothers of Zion are sponsoring the tours.
04:58I'm going with Haijin Choi at plus 3,300, right?
05:02Mao Saigo was Rookie of the Year last year.
05:04You know, we love Haijin.
05:06She was runner-up to Gito Titicul just a couple years ago for Rookie of the Year.
05:09She's solid right now.
05:11Ninth at Chevron.
