00:00Caste Census, we have been fighting now for some time.

00:05Government has opposed, for some reason.

00:08We don't understand what that reason is.

00:10They have suddenly decided to do it.

00:13We welcome that.

00:15We are happy that they have done the Caste Census.

00:19Telangana is a model state for the Caste Census.

00:23There are two Caste Censuses in front of us.

00:26One is Telangana, the other is Bihar.

00:29They are completely different Caste Censuses.

00:31The Telangana Caste Census, the questions have been developed by a process of consultation.

00:37Not a closed process, open closed process.

00:40By asking the stakeholders what are the type of questions.

00:43And it has been a very detailed, very granular exercise.

00:46We would like the National Census to follow some of the ideas of the Telangana Census.

00:50And we are more than happy to help the Government develop the National Census on similar lines.

00:58We have had two other issues that we have discussed which are also central.

01:05Which is the 50% cap on reservations.

01:08Now this is becoming an impediment.

01:10This is becoming an impediment to development, to progress of our country.

01:14And to the progress of backward castes, Dalits and Adivasis.

01:19And we want this 50% barrier to be eliminated and broken.

01:23We have stated that.

01:24We have achieved, we have put enough pressure on the Government to get the Caste Census done.

01:29We want a date by when it is done.

01:31We are going to put pressure on the Government to make sure that 50% cap is destroyed.

01:36And after that there is a third thing which is Article 15.5.

01:39Which is reservation in private educational institutions.

01:44It is already a law.

01:45We want that law to be implemented as soon as possible.
