00:00And Canada never ever will be part of America in any way, shape or form.
00:07He's a steely banker who has lived in New York, London, Tokyo
00:11and attended G20 meetings with a side view of Trump.
00:14We have made this the greatest country in the world.
00:18Mark Carney has presented himself as the fix-it man for most of the country's challenges,
00:23including Trump and tariffs.
00:25But he says he's not a politician.
00:27And now our neighbors want to take us.
00:29No way! No way!
00:33Carney has worn several hats before, but not one that took him to hold political office.
00:38An impressive resume with education at Harvard and Oxford later took him to private banking.
00:43He has served as a managing director at Goldman Sachs,
00:46sat on the board of the World Economic Forum Foundation,
00:49been the governor of the Central Bank of Canada
00:51and been the first non-Brit to become the governor of the Bank of England between 2013 to 2020.
00:57Mind you, this was a feat no other person could achieve in Britain in 300 years.
01:01After becoming a household name in Britain around Brexit,
01:04he returned to Canada and joined public service, helping Trudeau in the capacity of an advisor.
01:09With all this and more, he is touted as being very much a part of the global elite,
01:13not to mention the Canadian hired to save the world.
01:16Married to ecnomist Diana Carney, with whom he has four daughters,
01:20the Carney's have for long been heavily Catholic.
01:22With a fresh trade and tariff war launched by US President Donald Trump,
01:26jibes that Canada is a part of the US might be the least of Canada's worries.
01:30Donald Trump, as we know, has put, as the Prime Minister just said,
01:35unjustified tariffs on what we build, on what we sell, on how we make a living.
01:42The Canadian government has rightly retaliated and is rightly retaliated with our own tariffs
01:48that will have maximum impact in the United States and minimum impact here in Canada.
01:55And my government will keep our tariffs on until the Americans show us risk.
