00:00jobs to help them with that building process. James Evans. Bill Claret. First Minister, I just
00:08heard your answer but many small businesses in my constituency and their employees feel under
00:13attack with the rise from the national insurance from 15 to 15 percent, the lowering of the earning
00:19threshold and the highest business rates in the whole of the United Kingdom and the proposed
00:25visitor levy by this government adding further pressure. First Minister, do you not accept
00:30that these policies that are being driven here in Cardiff and in Westminster by the Labour
00:37Party risk pushing small businesses to the wall resulting in closures and job losses for
00:43many people across the country? I've been inundated during recess actually with people very concerned
00:49about the future of their jobs so I'll be very interested in what further work you're
00:52doing to stand up to the UK Government and actually stand up for Welsh businesses here
00:57in our country.
00:58Well thanks very much. I just want to make it clear that we are very pro-business in terms
01:04of the Welsh Government. We know that that's where jobs come from and we're keen in particular
01:10to see small businesses thrive and as I mentioned £335 million worth of support is no small amount
01:18of money. One of the biggest threats at the moment frankly in relation to small businesses, several
01:24sorts of small businesses in Wales is the threat from US tariffs and the impact on Wales will be
01:31significant. This is something that I've already discussed with Keir Starmer and something that because
01:40the export balance in Wales is mostly about goods whereas in England it's more about services so
01:49the impact on us from these tariffs are likely to be greater than they are in England.
