00:00Even in these Thunderbolts, all the characters for being heroes or superheroes must pass through a big personal trauma.
00:14Being a superhero must be a traumatic experience.
00:20Well, I think certainly that's where we're finding all of these characters.
00:25Since the last time we've seen Yelena and Alexei, a lot has happened to them.
00:30A lot of trauma has happened to them.
00:32And they're both struggling with understanding how to deal with it, how to process it, how to grieve.
00:39And it's so great and it's so important that we've been allowed to make this story in this way.
00:46And we haven't been afraid of what the message is, which is depression, mental illness, the need to be there for people.
00:53The need to accept your past, the need to open up and ask for help.
00:59And that was something that I was just so excited to really wrestle when I got the script.
01:05It was not a place where I thought this movie was going to go.
01:09And I was so impressed that Jake really, really fought for that.
01:13It's a huge deal to be in these movies.
01:15It's a huge deal that people trust us with these characters.
01:18And it's not lost on me that, you know, we also have a responsibility to the fans that loved these characters before we ever stepped foot in them.
01:28Thank you.
