Cebu ready for P20/kilo rice program
Amid public skepticism and political criticism, the National Food Authority Central Visayas (NFA 7) guarantees that Cebu is ready for the P20 per kilo rice program. Acting Public Information Officer Olma Nedia said around 11,000 bags of rice have undergone strict quality inspection and are now secured in NFA warehouses for distribution to local government units. Nedia emphasized that the rice meets the standards of Republic Act 12078, with proper moisture content, clean grains, and classification done by trained NFA classifiers. The rice was sourced from the recent dry season harvests of local farmers, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to support Filipino producers while ensuring food security.

01:00And in fact, they already given us the list of the municipalities or the LGUs na mag-withdraw para po sa programa dito.
01:12Kailan daw po sila mag-start ma'am ng pagkahakot ng mga bigas po dito?
01:17Actually, sir, we are waiting for the authorization or the authority from our head office so that they can start the withdrawal of the stocks.
01:27Anytime within this week, pwede na po. Ready naman po yung stocks natin dito sa bodega.
01:32Ma'am, may naantay pa po ba tayong mga bags of NFA rice na dumating po dito sa ating warehouse?
01:38Yes, sir. Thank you for that question, sir.
01:40Dahil naalala ko na ang ating stocks po is this will be augmented by the rice shipments po coming from our resource regions like Region 6.
01:50Meron din po tayong expected na arrivals from Region 10 and Region 4.
01:57So, ito po yung mag-help na mag-build up yung ating inventory so that we can issue stocks for this program.
02:06Pero itong 11,000, ma'am, kukulangin pa ito for, let's just say, for these weeks na parang withdrawal from the LGUs or sa tingin natin medyo sobra pa ito and maybe the augmentation can maybe support for the succeeding weeks na lang po?
02:20Yes. Para initial ka po ito dahil hindi naman po sabay-sabay na i-withdraw po ng LGUs ang kanilang allocation.
02:28So, in the coming days, darating yung ating stocks from the source regions and ma-accommodate din po yung allocation ng mga LGUs dito sa Siburo province.
02:40The NFA is very supportive with the program of our president.
02:44So, that's why nung in-announce po nila na mag-start po this week, nila na being prepared, everything, and in-announce po namin from the stocks pati po yung aming personnel dahil in case po na mag-withdraw yung ating LGUs,
02:56at least available po yung ating personnel na magmamana at saka ma-accommodate po lahat ng mga inventory requirements nila para smooth flowing po yung ating pag-i-issue ng mga stocks.
