00:02What's up?
00:03What's up?
00:22Nothing will stop me now.
00:30London takes centre stage this weekend as Wembley plays host to the last four in the Emirates FA Cup.
00:37Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City are still going strong as the race for Cup Glory heads towards a thrilling finale.
00:51Oh, it is a scintillating goal!
00:55Game set and match to Aston Villa.
00:57Manchester City rewrite the record books.
01:01They prevail Nottingham Forest, they'll pellet this yet again.
01:07And the Wembley Arch looms large for Crystal Palace.
01:12Welcome to the Emirates FA Cup Highlight Show.
01:15Coming up, Manchester City aim to cut Forest down in pursuit of their third final in as many years.
01:27While Aston Villa hope for their first victory over Crystal Palace this season at the fourth time of asking.
01:32Just a single point separated Manchester City and Nottingham Forest in the upper echelons of the Premier League, but the contrast in their recent FA Cup record couldn't be starker.
01:46City competing in their seventh successive semi-final, going on to win it twice, while Forest haven't been at this stage since their last run to the final in 1991 and haven't lifted the trophy for 66 years.
02:00In position for this one were Andy Townsend and Daniel Mann.
02:04Well, the team sheets give us answers, of course, but they also provoke questions.
02:11The headline is the inclusion of 18-year-old Zach Abbott for only his third senior appearance, possibly at right back with Nico Williams suspended or potentially as part of a centre-back trio with Dominguez at right wing back.
02:23Calum Hudson-Odoi comes into the 11 with Anthony Ilanga benched on his birthday with homegrown hero Ryan Yates suspended.
02:32The last man standing from their last visit here is Harry Toffolo, who was in the opposition line-up when they vanquished Huddersfield in the championship playoff final three years ago.
02:43Well Pep Guardiola also leaves us guessing with Rico Lewis and Mateus Nunes in the same line-up.
02:52One or t'other will operate at right back or in midfield respectively.
02:57Three changes from what Villa hoped would be a cup final rehearsal in midweek.
03:01Lewis in, Grealish and Savino likewise.
03:04James McAtee heartbreakingly suspended having been ineligible two years ago when Sheffield United came here.
03:10Gundogan and De Bruyne also on the bench.
03:13Lewis feeding Savino who's moved inside.
03:32Kovacic trying to make inroads and Lewis with an early chance!
03:37And a special start for Manchester City!
03:42We know a thing or two about quick goals in the FA Cup at Wembley.
03:49Well we wondered where he'd pop up when his name appeared on the team sheet.
03:55But he certainly popped up in the right place there!
03:58Well he certainly has.
04:00Brilliant strike from Rico Lewis.
04:01Mateo Kovacic does great here.
04:03Sees a little pocket of space drives into it.
04:05And he's just surrounded there by red shirts.
04:09But none of them are within closing down distance.
04:12Too much room for any player.
04:14And Rico Lewis not one normally for applying a finishing touch.
04:19Does it perfectly there.
04:21Right on cue.
04:22Takes a decent first touch.
04:24Through those outstretched legs.
04:25Matt Stills no chance whatsoever.
04:31Savino clearing the way here for Mateos Nunes.
04:33Has the better of Anderson here.
04:35It's beyond the head of Grealish though.
04:41Again no respite for Forrest.
04:44And O'Reilly through a couple of challenges.
04:47And unleashing the shot.
04:50A player that has come of age on the FA Cup stage this season.
04:54Yeah great play from Mick O'Reilly there.
04:56Twice.
04:58Offering a little pirouette to avoid those red shirts.
05:02And then again.
05:03Just fancied having a little dip.
05:06It's worldwide.
05:07It's never a problem.
05:08But good play from him.
05:10Neatly done by Wood.
05:14And Gibbs-White has found the pass.
05:17Hudson-Odoi on the border of offside.
05:19Wood waits.
05:21And the flag does ultimately go up.
05:24Yeah.
05:25He's always just off there.
05:27Callum Hudson-Odoi.
05:28But that's better.
05:29Look.
05:30That's where you find a pocket of space.
05:32And that ball has got, I tell you, it's very close.
05:35It's a pretty sharp call that.
05:51Callum Hudson-Odoi.
05:52Ilanga waits.
05:53Oh!
05:54And the stage was set for him.
05:57Well, opportunities do not come better than that one.
06:04Was that first touch?
06:06It was.
06:07I think this is literally his first touch.
06:09Look at the speed.
06:10Look.
06:11Brilliant ball in.
06:12From Hudson-Odoi.
06:14Goal is begging.
06:15Desperate.
06:17To just make good contact with that.
06:19And knock that in the back of the net.
06:20Oh!
06:21And he just drags it wide of the post.
06:23What a chance.
06:24Lewis.
06:25Terce Nunes and Lewis again.
06:26On for Savino.
06:27Back to Lewis.
06:28Oh!
06:29While others were waiting.
06:30Took the route towards goal.
06:31Potential here for Manchester City.
06:32And Sells has to work.
06:33And Kovacic!
06:34Oh!
06:35Remarkable!
06:36Oh!
06:37Oh!
06:38Oh!
06:39Oh!
06:40Oh!
06:41Oh!
06:42Oh!
06:43Oh!
06:44Oh!
06:45Oh!
06:46Oh!
06:47Oh!
06:48Oh!
06:49Oh!
06:50Oh!
06:51Oh!
06:52Oh!
06:53Oh!
06:55Oh!
06:56Well Matt Sells has produced plenty of moments of heroism in this FA Cup run.
07:00None bigger than that!
07:02Wow!
07:03What a moment that is.
07:04Gets his hands to that one.
07:05Now he's got to get back up on his feet very quickly and get back on the line.
07:09It's that handball there that the City players are protesting about.
07:13It's come off Zac Abbot.
07:16He's not made himself bigger, he's not tried to really do anything significant to block that.
07:23I think the arms are pretty natural there as he twists his body around.
07:29Wunzelz is rooted!
07:33And Manchester City's lead is doubled!
07:38Josko Gwaniol powers it home.
07:41And looks to have booked a Wembley return.
07:49Looked a little too easy that, didn't it?
07:52Yes, decent ball in.
07:54Goalkeeper gets blocked a little bit, look at all the blue shirts around Matt Sells.
07:58Actually, not enough.
07:59He steps forwards as if he's going to come and have a goal at that, and then doesn't keep coming.
08:05He then stands his ground, he's in no man's land.
08:08Bardiol's just only got eyes for the ball.
08:10He drifts over the top of Murillo.
08:14Brilliant contact.
08:15Marmouche.
08:19Grealish.
08:21Marmouche.
08:23Oh, and Sells.
08:25And his angle is covered.
08:28Good play, that.
08:29Takes it on that left foot.
08:30Might well have wrapped the crossbar and gone in that.
08:32Goalkeeper.
08:33Goalkeeper.
08:33Goalkeeper.
08:34Goalkeeper.
08:35Goalkeeper.
08:36Goalkeeper.
08:37Goalkeeper.
08:38Morris do have plenty of running in the legs of Ilanga.
08:41And now Wood.
08:42Hudson-Odoi and Ilanga on hand, and Gibbs-White's in the picture here.
08:48Elsewhere in that box, Gibbs-White!
08:51Oh!
08:52He's so unlucky!
08:56Fractions away from a foothold in the semi-final.
08:58Oh, what a strike.
09:01What a brilliant hit for Morgan Gibbs-White.
09:03Oh, it's just absolutely flushed this one.
09:11Look at that.
09:12That is so, so unlucky.
09:15It deserved to be a little kinder.
09:18It really did.
09:18He hit it so well.
09:27Oh, and a mistake.
09:29Has opened the door.
09:30Oh, Gibbs-White.
09:32It curses the woodwork again.
09:34What a mighty let-off for Manchester City.
09:37Cook-Gavardio here.
09:38He doesn't even play that, it's just pressure that from Dominguez.
09:44Incredible.
09:44Just gets away, a yard away from him, doesn't it?
09:47Morgan Gibbs-White, the angle is a tight one.
09:49Still expecting him to score.
09:52Nuno can't believe it.
09:54Cannot believe his team haven't found a way there.
09:56This is Marmouche, and now Kovacic, and now Gundogan.
10:05Niko O'Reilly, flee to foot, and it might yet run for him.
10:13Can he turn it back?
10:15Will Abbott shut the door on him?
10:17Do you know, it's a lovely play there.
10:18What's the way he pauses, young Niko O'Reilly, here?
10:21Just waits and just sees a little opportunity
10:24to maybe shift that ball to others in a better position.
10:35All the way over to Ilanga.
10:38Forest have five in the area here, commitment to numbers.
10:42Oh, and the bounce of the ball.
10:43Again the post from Elodie.
10:46And Gibbs-White and a flying Ortega denies it.
10:49Don't know how much of Wanyu knew about this
10:55when it just comes off his heel.
10:57Just comes off his heel and wraps the post.
11:00Could so easily have gone inside, and then
11:03great work from Ortega here, just to make sure.
11:07It's a comfortable save, really, but a very important one.
11:12Morgan Gibbs-White on another day, you know, could have had three.
11:14It's City, success in their seventh successive FA Cup semi-final.
11:32And they will be able to right the wrongs of last year
11:36in the big showpiece occasion on May the 17th.
11:40Yes, heartbreak for Gibbs-White and Coe.
11:45But City march on to the final.
11:48They've got the winning habit,
11:50and there will be the chance of salvation
11:53for a disappointing season by their standards
11:56against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.
11:59The final score here, Nottingham Forest nil,
12:02Manchester City two.
12:03Aston Villa arrived at Wembley in their best form of the season,
12:13with 11 wins from their last 14 outings.
12:16In that time, they'd only lost away
12:18at Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Crystal Palace.
12:23In fact, since Oliver Glasner arrived in South London,
12:26he was yet to lose against Villa.
12:28Three wins and a draw,
12:29his side scoring an impressive 13 times
12:31against Unai Emery's team.
12:34Watching to see who'd come out on top this time
12:36were Stuart Robson and Martin Tyler.
12:39Well, some team news for you.
12:41Crystal Palace have defender Chris Richards
12:43available again after suspension.
12:45He comes back in place of Jefferson Lerma.
12:48The top scorer, Geoffrey Mateta,
12:50was protected on the bench in midweek,
12:51but did come on for the last ten minutes at Arsenal
12:54to grab the equaliser.
12:55The 17-goal striker back in the line-up
12:58at the expense of Eddie Nketiah.
13:00And Ismaila Sarr has scored three times
13:02against Aston Villa this season.
13:04He's also, unsurprisingly,
13:06brought back into the 11th.
13:10Luna Emery has a fully-fit squad to choose from.
13:13His goalkeeper, Emi Martinez,
13:14won the FA Cup with Arsenal five years ago.
13:17Uri Tielemann scored the winning goal here for Leicester
13:20in the final the following season.
13:23Marcus Rashford has two winners' medals
13:24with Manchester United,
13:25but he dropped to the bench today
13:27as Oli Watkins is recalled.
13:30Marco Asensio and the captain,
13:32John McGinn,
13:32super John McGinn to the Villa fans.
13:34They're also now rested
13:36and back raring to go.
13:38He's skipped through everybody,
13:52and then first real chance
13:54for Morgan Rodgers.
13:58It wasn't an easy bounce.
14:02You'll be wondering,
14:03could he have done better?
14:04I think he's trying to slice across it here.
14:08It's a bit easy to get the cross in.
14:09They don't defend it particularly well.
14:11It's a real miss from Lacroix.
14:13You see he's trying to cut across the ball.
14:15I'll slice it into that far corner.
14:21That certainly can make it difficult.
14:23That's the threat playing the ball in behind.
14:38Yes, the defender's favourite to it.
14:40Slightly overruns it.
14:42The referee decides that it's a foul by Mateta.
14:44On Concert.
14:45Let's have a look at it from this sort of angle.
14:48He does just about touch him,
14:50but I think Concert made a real mess of that.
14:56That's a mistake by
14:57Pau Torres,
14:59charged down by Saar.
15:02Suddenly Palace are fancying this.
15:05He's there!
15:06Oh!
15:07They are fancying it.
15:08He stands and
15:10takes a salute,
15:12a statue of success.
15:15Eberici Eze
15:16with a semi-final sensation.
15:20It's a really good strike.
15:22Yes, of course it is.
15:24But it's good closing down.
15:25That's where they win the ball.
15:26Saar doing the closing down.
15:29Then goes inside the next challenge.
15:32Not sure the pass was meant there.
15:34But what a good strike.
15:3620 yards out.
15:37Pau Torres makes the first mistake.
15:39Saar's got the energy to get there.
15:42He doesn't defend it particularly well.
15:44And now Saar to come inside.
15:46Look at that.
15:47No
15:48chance for the goalkeeper in the end
15:50because it just bends away from him.
15:52I thought it went over the top of him,
15:53but he can't quite get his fingertips to it, can he?
15:57It's a really good strike from Eze.
15:59There's that.
15:59Cash, a lot of players in white forward here.
16:11Plenty back for Palace.
16:12Mateta.
16:17He says, I'm having that.
16:19And he's away.
16:22And he's still going.
16:23Jean-Felipe Mateta.
16:25It's a brilliant run.
16:25I'm trying to pick out Saar.
16:31What a break.
16:32That's, again, a thumbnail sketch of Mateta.
16:36Well, I think he did pick out Saar.
16:38And I don't think Saar made the most of it.
16:40What a bit of play that was from Mateta.
16:42And here comes Watkins.
16:45Him really opening up.
16:48Watkins could be in behind here.
16:53La Croix.
16:56Turning the ball and then taking the applause.
16:58I think he was quite pleased with himself there, La Croix.
17:01Good run from Watkins, just starting to impose himself on the gate.
17:06And I think there was a massive chance at the other end.
17:08Graded by that man there.
17:10And not taken by Saar.
17:11He was coming round the back.
17:16Mateta's next job is to mark that zone.
17:22Back peddling.
17:23And he keeps it out.
17:25Konza.
17:28Coming in.
17:31Filler not done yet in this attack.
17:35Tameda gets it away.
17:36Dean Henderson's not the kind of goalkeeper who goes out and the penalty spot to command the box, but he's very adept on his line.
17:47And Rodgers just kind of maybe for a chance to put it on the money again from the set piece.
17:56Ascensio's going over there, he made the save.
18:00He's going to jump well here.
18:04Great leap from him, heads it down, does everything right, really.
18:07That's a very good start.
18:08Yeah, he's almost gone past him, hasn't it?
18:12He's the man with the half in terms of the quality of the goal.
18:16And he's the man with the goal.
18:18And Palace now with six players forward here, one of whom is Saar.
18:24Oh, that was a real chance for Mitchell.
18:30He's there.
18:33Filler aren't out of the woods in this particular attack yet, Munoz trying to get it across.
18:39Oh, it could so easily Stewart have been 2-0.
18:43That's a player there, just can't use his right foot, still pressure on here.
18:48Touched away for a corner.
18:50And Filler, having looked threatening a moment or two at the other end,
18:54but Eze has gone in two goals adrift.
18:57Well, the last 15 minutes have been really good.
19:00Here's the chance again.
19:01Lovely ball played in.
19:03Saar showing his pace.
19:04Just plays it into a good area.
19:06Completely misses it.
19:07What an opportunity.
19:10Watch here, on his right foot, as I think about it.
19:13Misses it.
19:14On his right, hits his standing leg.
19:16Artorias with a very good switch of play again to Rodgers.
19:22It's in the all-white strip, bursting forward.
19:25Rodgers, lucky that it broke out to Tielemans.
19:30And it was a first-time effort of some quality that Dean Henderson has turned over from John McGinn,
19:38who can do that kind of thing in a flash.
19:41It's a carbon copy of Eze's goal, really.
19:43Ball played into that sort of area.
19:45With his right foot, trying to just whip his boot around it.
19:49It's a bit more difficult, because that was on the sort of volley, almost.
19:53Henderson, lucky that it was within his reach.
19:56And a flick on.
19:58First part of the corner routine.
20:00Here's the...
20:01Dean, yeah.
20:04Turned aside by Henderson.
20:05He's suddenly become a busy man.
20:07Well, when we see it again, I think it's a great save by Henderson.
20:11Dean hits it really well.
20:13It's a great strike.
20:15Henderson just gets that bottom hand to it.
20:19Touch from Rodgers.
20:21Trying to get it on to catch.
20:22But Mitchell stands firm.
20:26Eze.
20:29Mitchell's a little bit lucky.
20:32Trying to feed it in.
20:33Comes out to Wharton.
20:35Ooh, that's Anthony Taylor going to make of this penalty.
20:42Eze caught.
20:45We do have VAR, of course, so it will be checked.
20:48Stuart Robson.
20:49Well, that's a clever play by Wharton.
20:52It looked as though Wharton was going to shoot.
20:54Instead, he passes it into the run of...
20:56There's that camera, I think, chasing back.
20:59She just runs into it.
21:00But when he does catch him, that won't be changed.
21:03It's a really big moment in the semi-final for Crystal Palace.
21:10And Marteta is missed.
21:12Martinez takes the credit, but really it was his mistake.
21:20And what will be the outcome?
21:22How costly can that be?
21:23Oh, massive let-off here for Aston Villa.
21:30He took his time.
21:32And he just goes wide.
21:33Starts on target, and then just carries on going.
21:48Rodgers.
21:49Good work by Wharton.
21:51Here's Sarr.
21:54Great goal.
21:55Palace lead to no.
21:57This man, Sarr, just drilled at home.
22:06What a part that Wharton plays in this.
22:09And the ball's played into his opposing midfield player.
22:13He comes and wins the ball, and he wins it fairly.
22:15He doesn't dive in.
22:16Tielemans is a bit slow.
22:17Tries to play it round the corner.
22:19Link-up play with Mateta.
22:21I thought he was going to play it wide,
22:23but he strikes right through the back of the ball.
22:27So, Martinez didn't have much chance with the first goal.
22:31Can't quite get there with the second either.
22:34Sarr with that bit of space to run.
22:35You can see he just wraps his foot round it slightly.
22:38The bend takes it away from the goalkeeper.
22:40And into the far corner.
22:42What a good strike.
22:45Still a couple in passive, but inside, yeah.
22:47That's great love.
22:49He's got the tie on.
22:51Not enough of the club that he managed so successfully.
22:54So, Juri Tielemans for Villa.
23:03Richards gets ahead to it, but it's not at clearing heads.
23:10That's quick work from Watkins to get there first.
23:14Passed by Rodgers.
23:15Henderson with a punch.
23:16Comes down to Leon Bailey.
23:17And a lot of bodies to try and blast it past there.
23:23And he couldn't manage it.
23:25And it must have gone off a Villa player, I guess.
23:29Might have been Pau Torres that was down in the box.
23:31As you said, good play from Oli Watkins.
23:33A nice ball played in.
23:34Took his time.
23:36And at least Pau Torres couldn't get out of the way.
23:39I don't think he's the player on the floor.
23:41It's actually, yeah, it's Pau Torres.
23:43Nice.
23:54Eze.
23:55Trying to protect it.
23:57Might do a bit more than that.
23:59That is Kamada.
24:01And he finds the shot.
24:02And he goes for a cross.
24:05And Saar.
24:08At the back post.
24:09Can't believe he's missed.
24:10Brilliant from Kamada.
24:14I thought he missed a fairly easy one in the first half.
24:17Where he didn't really see the ball until it was almost on his head.
24:21But this.
24:22He's got to score.
24:24He's fearing the worst.
24:26It's not been his day, is it?
24:28And he never, even from the beginning, Stuart.
24:29You mentioned right at the start when Martinez had the ball.
24:32Slow, slow, slow, slow, slow.
24:35And it was the most bizarre opening to a game.
24:38Because the atmosphere inside this stadium
24:40was as good as I've ever heard it.
24:42Took me through a semi-final.
24:44And Katia.
24:45And can Saar get away here and really settle it?
24:48It's Mike Lassar.
24:50He does.
24:52What a way to wrap it up.
24:54He scores two against Aston Villa again.
25:01Well, talk about a composed finish.
25:03Yes, we know he's got pace.
25:05Saar.
25:07And he keeps it away from Cox the whole way.
25:10He waits for Martinez to go one way and just lifts it into the other side.
25:14It's a really top-class finish on Saar.
25:18And he scored that brilliant second goal as well.
25:23How about this?
25:25They're off for another counter-attack.
25:27And it is Munoz.
25:28And he is going to get there this time.
25:30And remember that Saar is on a hat-trick.
25:34Which Riyad Mahrez did a couple of years ago for Manchester City here in the semi-final.
25:38He doesn't leave the third.
25:40For him, he got the third in the game.
25:42Comprehensive from Crystal Palace.
25:44They're in to the FA Cup final.
25:49And yet again, they have got the better of Aston Villa.
25:53Having knocked them out of the League Cup earlier this season.
25:56And taken four points off them in the Premier League.
26:00They have now posted a really impressive scoreline.
26:06To see off a semi-final.
26:09Emphatic in the end.
26:10For the Glasner Palace.
26:12By three goals to nil.
26:14Confirmation that Manchester City reached the FA Cup final for a third straight year.
26:22Where they'll face a Crystal Palace side.
26:24Who are within one game of their first ever piece of major silverware.
26:31So a sunny semi-final weekend leaves just two sides left standing.
26:36On Saturday, the Eagles soared at Wembley with three sumptuous strikes.
26:41Then Manchester City made sure they'll be returning to the final.
26:44After felling forest with a little help from the woodwork.
26:48Bye for now.
