Islamabad (Pakistan), April 29, 2025 (ANI): Pakistan's defence minister said on April 28 that a military incursion by neighbouring India was "imminent" in the aftermath of a deadly militant attack on tourists in Kashmir last week, as tensions rise between the two nuclear-armed nations. In an interview at his office in Islamabad, Khawaja Muhammad Asif told Reuters that Pakistan had reinforced its military in anticipation for such an incursion.

00:00There is a likelihood that India will attempt an incursion in Pakistan and will engage Pakistan militarily.
00:11That is a possibility, a very clear and stark possibility.
00:18It cannot be ruled out.
00:19We are absolutely ready, high alert.
00:24If there is a violation of our airspace or there is a violation of the ground, if we are engaged in any way on the seas, we are prepared to respond.
00:42Inshallah, we will give a befitting response to India.
00:46I will take you there.
00:48We have had meetings, obviously the Prime Minister has shared all these meetings and our defence establishment has briefed us on the possibilities of an attack from India.
01:08We have absolutely no involvement.
01:12Till now there is no proof of any involvement of Pakistan in this sad incident.
01:20Loss of innocent lives.
01:24In the aftermath of this incident, they have, you know, started a campaign of terror in the valley.
01:33Innocent people are being picked up and killed in mock, you know, this time encounters.
01:44And the houses are being destroyed and there is a rain of terror which prevails today in the occupied, not that it was not there before, but it has intensified in last four, five days.
02:01But, obviously, you know, we have reinforced our forces because it is something which is imminent now.
02:14So, in that situation, some strategic decisions have to be taken.
02:20So, those decisions have been taken and we are in a position to defend our soil, inshallah.
02:28I would still believe and very firmly believe that nuke will not be an option, you know, because it will destroy both countries, you know.
02:39This is an option only in the case our existence is in a very, very precarious situation and there is a direct threat to our existence.
02:48But, in normal armed conflict, we I think both the countries should refrain from using the nuclear option, you know.
