Transcript
00:00Welcome to your evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:03Temperatures will be rising over the next few days.
00:05Plenty of spring sunshine on offer.
00:08It's been quite cloudy through Monday across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:12The clouds still thick enough overnight for some drizzly rain, particularly over Orkney.
00:16But that is tending to shimmy away to the north.
00:19Could provide some spots of rain in Shetland by dawn.
00:22For most places, it's going to be a dry night.
00:25It may turn a little misty in a few spots.
00:27The breeze just picking up a little bit along the south coast.
00:31Temperature-wise, we will dip down into single figures.
00:33Feeling a little cool in some rural spots to start Tuesday.
00:37But most towns and cities will hold up in double figures.
00:40And some places will be quite a bit warmer than that.
00:44And certainly a warmer feeling day on Tuesday compared to Monday for most parts.
00:48A sunnier day for a good chunk of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:51Still pretty grey over the far north of Scotland.
00:53Some drizzly rain.
00:54But even that should tend to peter out as we go through the day.
00:58But staying a bit damp, certainly, over the Northern Isles.
01:01Otherwise, though, lots and lots of spring sunshine.
01:05And those temperatures will respond.
01:07A warmer day for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:09More widely here up into the high teens.
01:11Low 20s further south.
01:13The mid-20s likely.
01:14Over the Midlands down towards the southeast of England.
01:1624, 25 degrees, perhaps even up to 26.
01:20Some coasts will be a little cooler.
01:22Particularly in the far southwest where there will be, at times, a fairly gusty wind blowing.
01:27That will continue on and off as we go through Tuesday evening.
01:30The drizzly rain should tend to peter out across the Northern Isles.
01:34And so, for most, it will be a dry night again.
01:37And, as a result, we'll see quite a contrast in temperatures as we head towards Wednesday morning.
01:44We could, again, see those values well down into single figures in rural spots.
01:48But, actually, over high ground and to the lee of the hills, temperatures really holding up into Wednesday morning.
01:54And then it's another fine and sunny day.
01:57Lots of spring sunshine on offer from the far south to the far north.
02:02Because I think that weather front is also continuing to break up over Northern Scotland.
02:06Come the afternoon, the very small chance of an isolated shower over Northern Scotland.
02:11Temperatures a degree or so higher.
02:12We could easily get to 26, 27 in and around the London area.
02:17And, pretty widely, we'll be over 20 Celsius by Wednesday afternoon.
02:21Notice the cloud thickening in the far northwest.
02:23That is a weather front.
02:25And that will be pushing its way slowly southwards as we head through into Thursday.
02:30It's a cold front as well.
02:31So, it will be introducing cooler conditions across Scotland and Northern Ireland as we go through Thursday.
02:37But, in the south, another very warm day.
02:41Thursday, the 1st of May, may well see the peak in the temperatures.
02:44We could easily get to 28 or maybe 29 Celsius.
02:48More on that in the full weather for the week ahead.
02:51Aidan has that for you.
