00:30What has occurred and what I can share with you at this point and to be fair to the investigation is that at approximately 8.14pm a lone suspect subject male with a one vehicle drove through a crowded community event occurring near here.
00:54That male was taken into custody at the scene by the crowd.
01:00It was a Filipino community event.
01:04The crowd immediately called police.
01:08We then took custody of the subject and he is now in our custody being held.
01:14How many families may be affected by this? Is it number seven? Is that something at this stage?
01:20It would be there was a number of deceased and number also injured.
01:26It would be unfair for me to speculate on exact numbers as the victims were taken to multiple hospitals in the region.
01:34So not just one hospital, multiple hospitals and it would be unfair to the facts of the case and unfair to the families for me to release any number at this point.
01:44Can you give us history?
01:46So this was a large community event, all events that we hold going forward.
01:52The entire investigative component, sections of the Vancouver Police Department with support of other areas will be conducting a full investigation on what occurred here tonight.
