00:32The patient you brought in,
00:33she asked me to give this to you.

00:39The patient was your responsibility.
00:41Come on, this isn't on me.
00:42You're fired. Get out.
00:43Have your witch hunt without me.
00:45I quit.
00:58I can't knock down.
01:00When I get up again,
01:01it'll never gonna keep me down.
01:03I can't knock down.

01:15it'll never gonna keep me down.
01:18Come on, Indy.
01:19Are you alright?
01:20No, I'm not.
01:21It's very much a spectator sport.
01:23I'm going to eat a sport.
01:53Jesus.
02:083006 control, running call, possible major trauma, life status, questionable.
02:23It's still warm.

03:53Okay, I'm just going to have a look at your arm there.
03:57Deep breaths.
03:59Deep breaths.
04:01Hey, this is going to really hurt.
04:05Sorry.

04:12Alright, everybody stay nice and calm for me.
04:14My name's Ian.
04:15We're going to help you.
04:17Teddy, you want to call it in?
04:193-0-0-0-6 control, update on the running call.
04:23Request HEMS support and urgent evacuation ASAP.
04:26We've got an RTC with two male patients, one with a traumatic amputation to the left arm.
04:31Hiya.
04:32Hi, mate.
04:33I'm Teddy.
04:34What's your name?
04:35Drew.
04:36Alright, Drew.
04:37Where's the pain?
04:38I don't know.
04:39Alright, we need a line in.
04:40TXA ready.

04:42What's your name, fella?
04:44Ellis.
04:45Alright, mate.
04:46I'm going to stop this bleeding.
04:48Then we'll get you some pain relief as soon as we can, alright?
04:54What have you done?
04:56Nicely steady, mate.
04:57The calmer you are, the less good you're going to lose, alright?
05:00Look at me.
05:01Okay?
05:02Good.
05:03Good, mate.
05:04You don't want any more blood over your nice car, do you?
05:08It's not my car.
05:09Yeah?
05:10Whose is it?
05:11He's going to kill us.
05:12Yes, that does.
05:13Alright, you two brothers.
05:15Don't tell me this is your first driving lesson.
05:21Alright, mate.
05:22Ellis.
05:23Ellis, stay with me.
05:25Ellis.
05:26Ellis, talk to me, mate.
05:28That's it.
05:30That tree's going to come down.
05:32Alright, we need to get finished up and get out.
05:34We need to immobilise him.
05:35We haven't got time, but let's go.
05:37Let's go.
06:00Hey!
06:01Over here.
06:02Alright, we need pins passed.
06:03Let's go.
06:04Oh, shit.
06:34Hold on.
06:35It's all right.
06:36Stay with me, Ellis.
06:45OK.
06:46Let's go.
06:47Ian?
06:48Ian?
06:49Indy?
06:50Yeah?
06:51We're all right.
06:52We're all right.
06:59Ian?
07:00Indy?
07:01Yeah?
07:02We're all right.
07:22Oh, BD?
07:23Yeah, of course.
07:24Go ahead.
07:25Oh, wow.
07:26All right.
07:27Um...
07:28Yeah.
07:29Oh, sorry.
07:30My...
07:31Oh, goodness me.
07:32My pen's not working.
07:35Yes, so go ahead.
07:36Has it...
07:37Has it partially come...
07:38No, the whole thing's come up, has it?
07:39OK.
07:40OK.
07:41OK.
07:42OK.
07:43OK.
07:44OK.
07:45OK.
07:46OK.
07:47OK.
07:48OK.
07:49OK.
07:50OK.
07:52Faith, can you allow the trauma team, please?
07:54We've got a hems eight minutes out.
07:56It's trauma case settled in.
07:57Sure.
07:58I'll, uh...
07:59I'll take it.
08:00No, no, it's fine.
08:01You've only just arrived.
08:02There should be another one in from the same RTC by road,
08:04so you can take that one pass.
08:05OK.
08:07Uh...
08:08How are you doing?
08:09You OK?
08:10Uh...
08:11No, not really.
08:12Someone smashed my wing mirror outside my flat.
08:14On purpose.
08:15What?
08:16Why?
08:17Don't know.
08:18Anyway, I'm just gonna put it behind me.
08:19Hang on.
08:24Look, I know it's been a bit of a rough start,
08:26but I should be able to get out if you're on time.
08:29You want me to pick up fish and chips on the way home?
08:31You know it's Millie's parents' evening?
08:33Yep.
08:34Yeah, yeah.
08:35I meant after the parents' evening.
08:37You're coming to parents' evening?
08:39Of course I'm coming to parents' evening.
08:41I can't wait to meet Mrs, uh...
08:43Mrs Breard?
08:44Yeah.
08:45I thought it was Mrs Beard.
08:47I know.
08:48Oh, please don't call her that,
08:49because she is actually quite whiskery.
08:51She sounds lovely.
08:53Yeah, she is actually.
08:54Millie loves her.
08:55Well, then I definitely need to meet her, don't I?
08:58You know you don't have to come tonight, right?
09:00You've taken on this big challenge.
09:02It's gonna take some time to get to grips with it.
09:04Claire.
09:05I get it.
09:06Claire, I wanna be there, okay?
09:07I took on this job so I could spend more time with you.
09:10And yes, I appreciate the honour of you.
09:13You think I've bitten off more than I could chew this time?
09:16Honestly?
09:17I think you can do whatever you put your mind to.
09:21Just...
09:22Try not to...
09:23Got to go.
09:24Dr Byron.
09:25Er...
09:26Yeah, er...
09:28You appear to have me at a disadvantage.
09:30Anna Mills?
09:32Counsellor for Holby West?
09:34Right.
09:35Yes, of course.
09:36Yeah.
09:37How are you doing?
09:38You've forgotten our appointment.
09:40Er, no.
09:41No.
09:42Not at all.
09:43What?
09:44Shall we?
09:55Shall we give them another two units of FFP, another two units of packed cells as well,
10:00please?
10:01And shall we get that TXA infusion up?
10:04Any sign of the surgeon?
10:05Speak of the devil and he shall appear, Dr Keir.
10:08Good.
10:09Good, good.
10:11Okay, so this is Ellis Garrick.
10:12He was brought about 12 minutes ago by air ambulance.
10:15He was a passenger in an RTC.
10:17It was a convertible car with his arm outside.
10:20They hit a bridge.
10:21So there's a traumatic amputation at the elbow and a catastrophic hemorrhage there.
10:26The car then left the road and hit a tree.
10:28So we've done a fast scan.
10:29There's something to be free fluid in the abdomen.
10:31So I think we can assume an intra-abdominal injury.
10:34Okay.
10:35Now Hem's intubated at the scene.
10:36He's had 100 milligrams of rocuronium, 100 milligrams of ketamine.
10:40He's had a gram of TXA.
10:41We've given him two units of FFP, four units of NEG, and there's another gram of TXA going
10:46up now.
10:47He's had 1.2-comoxic acid.
10:48He's had 1.2-comoxic acid.
10:49He's had 500-metronidazole and tetanosis immunoglobulin.
10:52Georgia, can you get the monitoring on the bed, please?
10:55And can you check the O2 cylinder, please?
10:57Okay.
10:58Chasing BP at the moment with broad products.
10:59How are we doing?
11:00I mean, still looking through the bandages.
11:03Tornicate time, about 42 minutes at the moment, I think.
11:05Catch all that.
11:06Okay, thank you.
11:07Let's get going.
11:08Okay, portable defib.
11:09I was so concerned about the arm, but I reckon we should prioritise the surgery and talk
11:14to plastic supplements.
11:15Yeah, we'll take it up, and then they can review.
11:17Where is the arm?
11:18Is there?
11:19Yeah.
11:20Right.
11:21Come on.
11:22No one's going to be able to reattach an arm to a dick, won't you?
11:24We have plenty of bandages to stem the bleed on that arm.
11:26Yeah, it's on the bed.
11:27Is that sorry?
11:28It's on the bed.
11:29So it is.
11:31All right, Keith, I'm going to posture this rapid infuser as soon as you're situated
11:35inside.
11:36Okay.
11:37I've got a transfer bag.
11:38Amazing.
11:40Are we done?
11:41Yes.
11:42Oh.
11:43I see someone's going to get you started.
11:44You know what I mean?
11:45You're going to boss it, mate.
12:00Oh, Keith, grab that.
12:02We're going to need another tourniquet, guys.
12:03Oh, you'll have to hold it.
12:06Okay.
12:07Go on.
12:08Really squeeze.
12:10There you go.
12:16Anyone get up to the course on Saturday?
12:19Yes.
12:20How was the 13th?
12:22Don't.
12:23Double bogey.
12:25The greens are still running fast.
12:26Yeah.
12:27How's your new driver?
12:28Beautiful.
12:29Yeah.
12:30Off the 8th tee.
12:31212 yards.
12:32Nice.
12:33Very nice.
12:34Here we go.
12:35Can somebody get the arm, please?
12:37Can someone clean this up?
12:43Okay.
12:44This is the window for viable reattachment of the arm.
12:46After that, we're looking at tissue depth.
12:47Our plastics won't even think of it until he's haemodynamically stable.
12:48So let's get prepped and get going.
12:49Nurse Amman, okay to scrub in?
12:50Okay.
12:51Uh, yes, yes.
12:52Good.
12:53I'll open it up and deal with whatever's going on inside, but I want you assured that
12:54the
13:21you're going to be on the arm.
13:22Get on top of the bleed, debride whatever you can and tidy it up.
13:26Through there and there should be some clean scrubs and spare threads, cloaks in the changing room.
13:30Okay.
13:31Cool.
13:48I'm sure people are frustrated, yeah.
13:50I'm frustrated.
13:51But if you want to speak to somebody, you should be speaking to the health secretary.
13:54Dr. Byron, I'm a counsellor.
13:56I'm not an MP.
13:57I don't have access to the health secretary.
13:59Well, neither do I.
14:00What I do have is an inbox full of heartbreaking stories about patients queuing through the night in ambulances
14:07and undignified treatments being meted out in corridors.
14:10Well, believe me, none of us want that, so...
14:15So what are you doing about it?
14:19It took a long time for things to get this bad. I have been in the post for less than a month.
14:24I understand a lady died in one of your corridors just a couple of weeks ago.
14:31Gloria Scott.
14:34You were in post then.
14:37Are you trying to kill the patients?
14:39Yes.
14:41Sorry.
14:45Just a silly joke, Leah.
14:48Siobhan, this is Anna Mills, local counsellor.
14:51Ms Mills, this is Siobhan Mackenzie.
14:54Clinical nurse manager and comedian.
14:57I'll let you get on.
15:00I know you have a lot to do.
15:05I really hope we don't have to have this conversation again.
15:21That's a man.
15:22Rita.
15:24Apologies for the rather crude initiation.
15:26Oh, no, it's fine.
15:28Water leaf blue is very much in my job description, so...
15:32It's a good attitude.
15:34Now, look, if you have any concerns, do come and talk to me.
15:39Excuse me.
15:45Hey, there she is.
15:47Thought you know what you're letting yourself in for.
15:50Changed your mind about this yet?
15:52Nah.
15:53Not at all.
15:54All this.
15:56It's a bit I'm used to, innit?
16:00Thank you, Chris.
16:02I'm just so excited to see everybody's happily ever after.
16:07What, happy ever after?
16:08Coming right up.
16:09Let's hope so, eh?
16:10This is Drew Garrett.
16:11This is Drew Garrett.
16:12He's got a head laceration and vomited at the scene.
16:14Abdomen's tender and he's complaining of lower back pain.
16:17We had to perform a rapid extrication due to safety at the scene.
16:19OK, let's do baseball, please.
16:21All right.
16:22BP is 105 over 60.
16:24He's tacky at 110.
16:25Sats are 100 on high flow and GCS has been 15 throughout.
16:28He's had a gram of IV paracetamol, 10 milligrams of more food and four of on Dancer's run.
16:32Is my brother okay?
16:33He's in the gate, sir.
16:34He's being looked after.
16:35Seven across on lift, please.
16:36Ready?
16:37Freeze.
16:38Lift.
16:40Bill and the UK did your primary survey?
16:41Yeah, of course.
16:42I'm good.
16:43He's going to listen to your cats.
16:45Did she get a hold of our mum?
16:46She's in Edinburgh.
16:47It's her anniversary.
16:48Yeah, we've got the numbers and we'll sort it.
16:49OK, don't worry.
16:50How are we doing?
16:51OK.
16:52BPS dropped to 90 over 60.
16:53OK, right.
16:54I think we're looking at intra-abdominal injury, so let's...
16:55Lamorna, can you call CT and request a PAN scan?
16:57You being chair of the resource committee, I thought you would have prioritised the ED getting
17:10one of the new DFIDs.
17:11The cath lab were absolutely desperate.
17:13Well, you're desperate.
17:14Ours is on its last legs.
17:16The patients won't even make it to the cath lab if they're in VF and we can't shock them.
17:21Look, I had to balance the books.
17:22The procurement budget was all that was left.
17:24I've ordered the new equipment until then we just have to make do.
17:27Look, I'm not telling you how to do your job, OK?
17:31I know it's hard.
17:32Been there, got the T-shirt, but with respect, there is saving money and there's compromising
17:39patient care.
17:40Can I show you something?
17:41Yeah.
17:42Mr Epping, I have a consultant here who would like to take a look at those pressure sores.
17:54OK.
17:55Hi.
17:56How are you doing?
17:57I'm Dr Byron.
17:58Do you mind if I take a look?
17:59Sure.
18:00Nice custom job you've got going on there.
18:04Can't take any credit, I'm afraid.
18:06My granddaughter's work.
18:07Yeah.
18:08How old is she?
18:09Three.
18:10And she's told me to be very careful because these are her best stickers.
18:13Yeah, I can see.
18:14She's been very generous with them.
18:16Yes.
18:17Well, I don't want to blow my own trumpet, but I am her favourite grandpa.
18:20Do you remember when this was put on?
18:23Last Wednesday, I think.
18:24My appointment at the fracture clinic is supposed to be tomorrow.
18:28Right.
18:29Who put this on?
18:30It doesn't matter who.
18:32There was a young man over there, wasn't it?
18:35Good.
18:36Would you excuse us for a second, please?
18:39Of course.
18:40Maybe the nursing staff need a refresher on basic competencies and bag slabs.
18:46It's cheap plaster.
18:48It dries badly.
18:49It cracks.
18:50This is the result.
18:51That is a grade four pressure ulcer.
18:53He has a raging infection and he's this close to success.
18:57Siobhan, sorry to interrupt.
18:59Dr Tsum wrote up 40 milligrams of throesomide for this patient,
19:02but she's not responding to the medication.
19:04I'm a bit concerned.
19:05Okay.
19:06All right, Bridget, love.
19:07Take it nice and steady.
19:08Yeah?
19:09Oh, er...
19:10Excuse me.
19:11Excuse me a minute, love.
19:13The cannula's tissueed.
19:15Half of it's on the bed.
19:16I'm so sorry.
19:17I didn't realise...
19:18No, it's not your fault.
19:19Give another 40 milligrams of throesomide,
19:21and if she doesn't respond to that, set up a GTN infusion.
19:24For God's sake, change the cannula.
19:28Okay.
19:29The cannulas are just as bad as the plastic.
19:32They are as flimsy as anything.
19:34And they won't stay still because the tape that you bought
19:37doesn't stick.
19:39See?
19:40It's rubbish.
19:41Okay?
19:42False economy.
19:43We need to go back to the original supplier.
19:46Right.
19:47So, it's just the coincidence that the two people who have problems
19:50were treated by the same nurse?
19:52Come on.
19:53A bad workman blames his tools.
19:55Yeah.
19:56And, er...
19:57A bad leader blames his team.
19:59Dr. Merson, you care to weigh in on this?
20:06I thought we were taking responsibility when things went wrong.
20:10Not blaming the nurses.
20:12Excuse me.
20:14I'll get that throesomide.
20:15Yeah.
20:16Hold still, Dr. Waver.
20:17Soxin.
20:18Don't be scared.
20:19You're not going to do any damage.
20:20Good.
20:29iPad.
20:30Thanks.
20:31Thanks.
20:32Hi.
20:37Orå‚·,
20:38Do you want to come out of муз Money?
20:39In villains?
20:42Alec.
20:44Alec.
20:45Alec.
20:46Cole's director.
20:47Soxin.
20:48How are you doing, Dr. Redman?
20:53Almost there.
20:55Hey, please.
21:02Yes, thank you, Dr. Piper. I do have ears.
21:06Vessels are clumped.
21:09And the abdomen is packed.
21:13It should mitigate the loss of volume.
21:15Let's replace his blood volume
21:18and correct his coagulopathy
21:21and see if he stabilizes.
21:26How much longer on the arm, Dr. Redman?
21:3074 minutes.
21:3174 minutes.
21:32What do you think? Can we do it?
21:35Yeah, I think so.
21:39We have hemorrhage control.
21:41Let's give team anaesthetics a chance to catch up
21:45and we'll see what we've got.
21:50Music, please.
22:04And my hands were shaking.
22:07It's not like we knew we were going to it
22:08and we could prepare for it.
22:10I think you did brilliantly.
22:11Mm, really?
22:12I mean it.
22:13I'm proud of you.
22:17Oh, I forgot about this.
22:19Was it?
22:19Cam told me to put it up last week.
22:22Look, it's got a little tear-off strip
22:24like we're in the 90s.
22:26I love it.
22:27Have they got a room going?
22:29Yeah.
22:29A little box room.
22:30Not sure if it'll have any take
22:31because it's tiny.
22:32I don't care about that.
22:34Your landlord's still not got his eyes together.
22:36It's ridiculous.
22:36Yeah, so I'm thinking
22:38I should find somewhere else.
22:40Right.
22:40Well, there you go.
22:42It's quite handy, isn't it?
22:43Yeah.
22:44Cool.
22:45I'll message him.
22:46Right.
22:46Er, can you do me a favour, though?
22:48Can you tell him what you found in the break room?
22:50Because I forgot to put it up.
22:51Yeah.
22:51Yeah.
22:51Got ya.
22:52Right.
22:52See ya.
22:52I'll be right back.
23:22Left and right upper quadrants are dry, liver and spleen intact, moving on, here we go,
23:52now come on Dr. Hyde. Music down, please. I can't see what I'm doing, there's more suction.
24:22Got it.
24:26Miesenteric evulsion.
24:28I'll use a clip.
24:29Good.
24:30Two zero suture, please.
24:31For this.
24:32And then we'll do the repair on the serosal injury.
24:50Cool Plastics.
24:55Tell them we're nearly ready for them to have a look at this arm.
24:59Temperature's not coming down, is it?
25:05I think we're going to have to admit you till we get on top of this infection.
25:11Stay here.
25:12I'm afraid so.
25:13Is there anyone I can call to bring some stuff in for you?
25:14My daughter.
25:15His daughter's on the system as his next of kin.
25:16Okay, I'll give her a call.
25:17Cam, could I have a word?
25:18Yeah.
25:19Could you redo that cast while I sort a bed out?
25:20Well, I think maybe someone else should do it.
25:21Like I said before, this wasn't your fault.
25:22You did nothing wrong.
25:26Right.
25:27Mr. Epping.
25:28I'll take this and I'll be right back.
25:29Oh, no.
25:30Don't throw it away.
25:31I just need to get this back on you.
25:32Hey, Drew.
25:33Someone's managed to get in.
25:34Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
25:38How's that, eh?
25:39I imagine you're still in theatre.
25:40Sorry.
25:41No.
25:42I'm sorry.
25:43I'm sorry.
25:44I'm sorry.
25:45It's all right.
25:46Mr. Epping.
25:47I'll take this and I'll be right back.
25:48Oh, no.
25:49Don't throw it away.
25:51I just need to get this back on you.
25:52Hey, Drew.
25:53Someone's managed to get in touch with your mum and dad.
25:55Step-dad.
25:56Okay.
25:57Step-dad.
25:58They're getting the next train, so they should be here soon.
25:59Okay?
26:00You think they're angry?
26:01No.
26:02I don't think so.
26:03How's Ellis?
26:04I imagine he's still in theatre.
26:07Sorry.
26:08It's okay.
26:11I'm always messing everything up.
26:13Can't do anything right.
26:15No, I'm sure that's not true.
26:16No, it is.
26:17He was helping me pass my driving test before I started uni.
26:21This is how I repay him.
26:24He'll say that as well.
26:25Just try and stay calm, okay?
26:27Look, this was a horrible accident.
26:29It's nobody's fault.
26:30Ah!
26:31Ah!
26:32You all right?
26:32Do you want me to?
26:33I don't know if you're going to do it.
26:34Um, where's the pain, Drew?
26:36I'll go back.
26:37I'm just examining your abdomen.
26:40It's all right.
26:43Yeah, okay.
26:44There's rigidity in the abdomen.
26:47Dylan, is that CT report back by any chance?
26:50Uh, yes, it is.
26:51Yes, it is.
26:52Uh, yeah, he's got some intralivum there around the bowel, so it might have ruptured.
26:56Okay, thank you.
26:57Right, uh, yeah.
26:58Let's get him on IV Colmox Club, and we'll do a stat dose of gentamicin.
27:01I'm going to bring surgery as well.
27:03I can do that.
27:04No, no, no, you're a grant.
27:05Uh, if you have to review his analgesics, that'd be great.
27:07Thanks.
27:11You're okay.
27:12You're okay.
27:12We'll take care of you.
27:19Please don't tell anyone that I'm using this, okay?
27:22Because this is just meant for closing wounds.
27:24Our secret.
27:25Okay, last one.
27:29And that goes there.
27:31Now, I've just got to make sure that these are on absolutely perfectly, because she will
27:36definitely notice.
27:37And that's it.
27:43There we go.
27:44What do you think?
27:46Barry?
27:50Barry?
27:52Barry, can you hear me?
27:55Mr. Epping?
27:57Mr. Epping?
27:58Can you hear me?
27:58Um, can I get some help, please?
28:06He was drowsy but talking.
28:08Now he's just not responsive.
28:10Crash trolley.
28:10Let's do a rhythm check.
28:30All right.
28:31There's a fault.
28:32Oh.
28:33Um, okay.
28:34Fine.
28:34Get it off my nose.
28:35Continue, please.
28:36Can.
28:36Keep up compressions.
28:37It's going to be the resource.
28:39Let's go.
28:39Let's go.
28:40Let's go.
28:42Go.
28:49Yeah, can you put me through, please?
28:50Thanks.
28:53Yeah, they can't staff a theatre without pulling another team from surgery.
28:57Okay, well, he's deteriorating fast.
29:00Should we give him another two units of Pac-Ride cells and a unit of FFP?
29:07It's one.
29:08Rita.
29:08Hi, it's Stevie here.
29:11Hi.
29:11Is this where you have to go?
29:13Yeah, yeah, it is.
29:13Um, look, I'm here with the kid from the RTC this morning, the driver.
29:18I think you're treating his brother at the minute.
29:21Um, we've got a possible bowel injury at the DJ Flexure.
29:24Can I set him up to you?
29:25Can I set him up to you?
29:27We have plastics here looking at the arm reattachment.
29:31I think that's going to take a couple of hours.
29:33Yeah, yeah, but basically I need you to forget the arm.
29:37Yeah, Rita, I've got a kid here.
29:39It's a 17-year-old with a new score of six.
29:41You know, he's triggering for sepsis.
29:43We're looking at possible organ failure.
29:45Well, whatever it is, the other trauma team will have to do it.
29:48Yeah.
29:48Rita, can you tell Russell if he has something to say?
29:50He can come on the phone to say it because I'm perfectly aware the other trauma team are working on a ruptured spleen.
29:54So you're this kid's only hope.
29:56Yeah, um, do you know what?
29:57Just hold on.
29:59Put me on hold.
30:01They sound quite worried.
30:03They always sound worried.
30:05It's his brother.
30:06He was driving the car.
30:08They were in a bowel injury, triggering for sepsis.
30:11If we clear the theatre for him, then this fellow loses an arm.
30:15I'm sure he'd rather that than lose his little brother.
30:20Rita, Mr. Whitelaw has given his final.
30:24I'm really sorry, guys.
30:26It's not up to me and I don't know anything, but how likely is it that this arm reattachment is going to work?
30:35Genuine question?
30:38I agree it is a long shot.
30:41And there is an outside chance that he might be too unstable for a plastic sock.
30:45This could be life or death.
30:47Yes.
30:49No?
30:50Mm.
30:54My apologies, gentlemen.
30:55It appears that your services are no longer required.
31:04Send him up.
31:06Great.
31:07Thanks.
31:08Did she get us a theatre?
31:09Yeah, she did.
31:10I did.
31:11Okay.
31:12Let's go.
31:13I didn't need to go.
31:14If we open him up and find that it's a fuss over nothing, then you're going to have to explain why we didn't at least try to save his arm.
31:23Let's close and reset the theatre, please.
31:26And will somebody take the arm down to the morgue?
31:28He's been down for ten minutes.
31:44He's in BF.
31:44Come on, shock him.
31:45Okay, charging to 150.
31:48Okay, top, middle, bottom, clear.
31:50Top, off the chest.
31:56Shocking.
31:59Wait, wait.
32:03Okay.
32:04I've got Rosk.
32:05Right, start a repeat, ECG, a blood gas, call ITU.
32:08I owe you an apology.
32:12It's okay.
32:13No, it's not.
32:15Let him apologise.
32:18I'm sorry.
32:19Okay, nothing that happened today is on you at all.
32:22You're an excellent nurse.
32:24And I'm grateful for your hard work.
32:29Well, that was interesting.
32:44God, I really hope this kid's on death's door.
32:49Sorry.
32:50You know what I meant.
32:53Do you think it was a mistake?
32:56I just can't believe he listened to you.
32:59He doesn't listen to anyone.
33:00Then again, I've never seen anyone speak to him the way you do, so...
33:04Yeah.
33:06Everyone keeps saying how he's this big tyrant,
33:09but he seems perfectly friendly to me.
33:11If anything, a little too friendly.
33:16Well, you got some balls, I'll give you that.
33:29Go, go, go, go, go.
33:31Hey, guys.
33:31Okay.
33:32Hey.
33:32Hey, Rumi.
33:33Hey, um, can I give you this now?
33:35Don't worry, we can sort that later.
33:36That's not a...
33:36No, because then I just...
33:37No, it's definite and done and sorted.
33:40Okay.
33:41And I'm sorry it's not as much as you wanted for the deposit.
33:44It's just all I've got left saved.
33:45Lovely, silly.
33:46That's fine.
33:46Um, well, I suppose we should all celebrate later.
33:48Yeah?
33:49Have a drink or something?
33:49Yep.
33:50Cool.
33:50And I guess I'm buying?
33:51You're going to have to.
33:52Okay.
33:52Okay.
33:53No worries.
33:53All right, see you in a bit.
33:59Cheers.
33:59Morning, morning.
34:00Morning, morning.
34:00Morning.
34:20Oh.
34:21Suction.
34:23I think we can safely confirm a perforated colon.
34:27Okay, plan of action.
34:28Dr. Piper?
34:29Peritoneal saline washout.
34:32Um, and then primary anastomosis.
34:35Dr. Redmond?
34:36I agree with the washout, but a joint wouldn't heal.
34:41I'd give him a Hartman's in reverse in six months or so.
34:44I agree with you, Dr. Redmond.
34:45Anastomosis is a ludicrous suggestion.
34:48The brother has already sacrificed an arm.
34:50Let's not risk anything more.
34:51Nurse Amman, this boy may well owe you his life.
34:59This is why I brought her up here.
35:01All patients should be so lucky as to have such an advocate.
35:08Let's begin.
35:09Now, I'm telling you, Eve, that was definitely the person who smashed my murder.
35:21I thought you said you hardly saw him.
35:23I saw enough.
35:25Are you sure you're not just being a wee bit?
35:26You know, Faith, I'm not cracking up.
35:28I'm not saying you're cracking up, but maybe you're overthinking it.
35:31Look, there's all sorts of people around here.
35:33It's a public place.
35:34Okay, but I'd say my plan is a public street.
35:38Like, why would somebody be targeting you?
35:40Who would want to do that?
35:49Yeah.
35:50Oh, great.
35:53More paperwork.
35:55Great say.
35:57As long as it's not more numbers that don't add up.
36:00You're at that stage, right?
36:01Yeah.
36:02It's impossible.
36:03Okay, good.
36:04But as long as you realise that, I mean, it is actually impossible.
36:08It doesn't matter which way you try and add things up.
36:10They don't because there just isn't enough money to go around.
36:13Resources are just allocated according to whatever people are most upset about on any given day.
36:17Well, you know, I think once you realise that you are just moving deck chairs about on the Titanic,
36:23strangely enough, it does become less frustrating, strangely.
36:26And they're just giving up.
36:28Or pragmatism, I think.
36:29Just understanding there's only so much that one person can do.
36:32It's a bigger job than you, it's a bigger job even than me.
36:36Bonne chance.
36:37Bonne chance.
37:07Bonne chance, please.
37:09What?
37:12What's this?
37:14Wait, is this a colostomy bag?
37:15Hey.
37:16Hey, Drew.
37:16I'm Rita.
37:17I'm your surgical nurse.
37:19I want you to know this is temporary.
37:21It's just giving your body time to recover.
37:23And then you can have another operation to reverse it.
37:26Where's my brother?
37:27Ellis.
37:28It's okay.
37:29He's over there.
37:30You can see him.
37:30It's okay. Look at me. Look at me. It's all right. It's not all right. This is all your
37:52fault. What? Faster. Go faster. Now look at us. Drew, hey, I know. This is such a shock, isn't it?
38:03It is so much to take in, but I promise you this is temporary, okay? Yeah, it's a screw you.
38:12And it won't stop you from doing anything. There's nothing that you can't do with a bag that you
38:19couldn't do before. Pushing me. Always pushing me. Learn to drive. Go to uni. I didn't even
38:25want to go to uni in the first place. I was trying to help you. You're selfish. I don't
38:30need your help. You're not my dad.
38:49Hello? Indy. Indy, it's me. It's your dad. Oh. Hi. How are you? All right. How are you?
39:12Yeah. Getting there. Actually, that's not true. I'm in a bit of trouble. I thought you're
39:22supposed to be staying out of trouble after what happened. It wasn't a one-time thing,
39:27was it? Listen, I feel bad asking, but I need to borrow some money. Just a few hundred
39:33quid. I'll pay you back. I promise. It really helped me out. More than you know, you don't
39:44got a car.
39:56Okay.
39:58Look, I know it's not my place, but you're both extremely lucky to be alive. And seeing
40:22as you still have each other, I think you need to talk. I can't leave because I have to
40:28monitor you, but I'm going to just turn around, and I'll pretend I can't hear you, and you
40:34two can just... Yeah?
40:58Look. When Dad died, it didn't seem important. Exams. No. You can be better than me. You can
41:17have more. You can't carry on at the factory anymore. I... What else are you going to do?
41:27What else are you going to do?
41:28I thought maybe... driving instructor.
41:34I thought maybe... driving instructor.
41:41what else are you going to do?
41:42What else are you going to do?
41:43What else are you going to do?
41:44What else are you going to do?
41:45What else are you going to do?
41:46What else are you going to do?
41:47What else are you going to do?
41:48What else are you going to do?
41:49What else are you going to do?
41:50What else are you going to do?
41:51What else are you going to do?
41:52What else are you going to do?
41:53What else are you going to do?
41:54What else are you going to do?
41:55What else are you going to do?
41:56What else are you going to do?
41:57What else are you going to do?
41:58What else are you going to do?
41:59What else are you going to do?
42:00What else are you going to do?
42:01What else are you going to do?
42:02What else are you going to do?
42:03Hi.
42:23Hi.
42:28Thought we agreed we wouldn't need to speak again.
42:31Yeah.
42:32I think you agreed that.
42:44Look, the way I see it, we are on the same side.
42:50So we don't need to treat each other like the enemy.
42:53We both want the same thing.
42:57I started this job...
42:59to do something positive.
43:05And instead, I am wasting my time making impossible decisions
43:09between safe staffing and safe equipment.
43:12We need more money.
43:17It's that simple.
43:20What I want to know is...
43:22What are you going to do about it?
43:28Sean said I was a natural and that he's really proud of me.
43:43Hey.
43:45Hey, housemate.
43:46Can't tell us the good news.
43:47Yeah, I'm really sorry to mess you all around.
43:50I don't actually need the room any more.
43:52Oh.
43:53Yeah.
43:54I went to talk to my landlord to hand him a notice
43:56and he said that renovations are going to be done by the weekend.
43:58Aw, that's a shame.
44:00Would have been fun.
44:00Yeah.
44:02It's just all my stuff's already there, so it's easier.
44:04No, of course not.
44:05That makes complete sense.
44:06Here, I should give you this back.
44:07Is that all right?
44:08Yeah, of course it is.
44:09Here you go.
44:10Thanks.
44:11Sorry.
44:11No, no worries at all.
44:15Well, do you guys still want to go to the pub?
44:17Absolutely.
44:18Definitely.
44:18Yeah?
44:18Yeah.
44:19Rita.
44:20I'll see you in there.
44:21OK.
44:22We're just going for a drink.
44:23Do you want to come?
44:24Er, no, I can't stop.
44:25I just want to do a quick word.
44:26About how amazing I was, Nicole.
44:28I already know.
44:32You OK?
44:33Er, yeah.
44:34So, when I started in surgery,
44:36one of the lasses told me
44:38what I'm going to tell you.
44:40OK.
44:42Er, there's a list.
44:45Er, of blokes you want to be careful around.
44:51And Mr. Waitlaw is top of that list.
44:55Are you serious?
44:57Well, you said he's already been a bit too friendly.
45:01Er, yeah, but...
45:04OK.
45:06Well, thank you.
45:07And thank you for letting me know.
45:10He wasn't the only one I was warned about.
45:18Sean's name is on the list, too.
45:23I'm so sorry.
45:25I...
45:26I just...
45:26I just thought you should know.
45:28I'm so sorry, Pat.
45:40I...
45:40So...
45:41And...
45:42I...
45:50So...
45:52So...
45:53So...
45:54So...
46:02So...
46:02All right.
