Napoleon's sword expected to fetch up to a million euros at French auction

A saber that French Emperor Napoleon ordered for his personal use will soon be up for auction in Paris.

Napoleon kept the highly decorated sword throughout his reign, commissioned by the armorer Nicolas-Noel Boutet in 1802, before offering it to Emmanuel de Grouchy, the last Marshal of the Empire.

Preserved since 1815 by the Marshal's descendants, it will be put up for auction for the first time on May 22 at the Hotel Drouot auction house in Paris.
