00:00Ben, I want to throw it over to you because we have another pick from the Commanders, another Ole Miss player off the board.
00:06Absolutely so.
00:07Trey Amos, the cornerback, goes 61st overall to Washington cap.
00:12Last night, it was Josh Connolly Jr., the offensive lineman out of Oregon.
00:17Trey Amos, the corner from Ole Miss, goes here with the fourth to last pick of this second round.
00:22How do you evaluate the selection?
00:23I like this one.
00:24And with Marshawn Lattimore's hamstring problems and St. Drew's to walk, they let him go in free agency.
00:31They need another corner.
00:32Trey Amos is a good value here.
00:33I had him in my second round board.
00:35I know the Eagles, by the way, they loved him.
00:37They had him in for a visit to Washington gets him, potentially from the Eagles.
00:40So this is, look, Adam Peters is killing it.
00:44He's killing it in the draft.
00:45He's done a great job.
00:46Very aggressive.
00:48By the way, some people on the league thought they might have been in the Jalen Ramsey sweepstakes.
00:52Potentially, forget it now, obviously.
00:54So, look, they've been aggressive.
00:56They've got another starting player in Trey Amos.
00:59They're going to play the kid they drafted in the first round, Connelly, at right tackle.
01:03Not left.
01:03He's got him in that position.
01:05But they've been very aggressive.
01:06Debo Samuel, at receiver.
01:08But the one thing they do need at receiver is juice.
01:11They need explosiveness at running back wide receiver to complete this draft.
01:15And we'll see what Washington elects to do the remainder of this night.
01:18And, of course, into day three, rounds four through seven.
01:21Gents at the desk.
01:22Plus 900 price on the Commanders to win the NFC Championship in 2025.
01:28Fourth best number.
01:29Are we buying in?
01:31Kind of like a lock, to be honest.
01:32Well, I mean, Commanders clearly stepping in front of the Eagles with these two picks over these last two nights.
01:39But as an Eagles fan, basking in the glorious win of the Super Bowl, how do you assess how Washington has done here in trying to challenge the Eagles?
01:48So, I think draft-wise, things have gone well for Washington, undoubtedly.
01:53I think that I've never seen a team lose the way they did in a conference championship game and get washed under the rug the way they're absolute.
02:01I mean, they got embarrassed in the NFC title game.
02:03Eight rushing touchdowns?
02:04I think someone just got in again.
02:06It might be up to nine.
02:07Nobody talks about it.
02:09Now, I understand.
02:09It was this underdog story.
02:11They weren't supposed to be there.
02:13But now we're having this conversation like they are absolutely on the level.
02:16But them getting doubled up in the game doesn't really matter.
02:19I just, if you look through their regular season run, they didn't have an awesome resume.
02:24Their two best wins of the season, I'm not even talking about how they looked.
02:28The resume, if it was college football playoff style, were the two postseason wins.
02:34Those were their, that was the best they ever did.
02:36Even their win against Philadelphia in the regular season came with more caveats than you could imagine due to the Jalen Hurts leaving that football game.
02:44So, I think Washington is a team that, if they want to be back in the playoffs, has to get much better.
02:50I just, it is a little bizarre to me that C.J. Stroud can have the rookie season followed by the sophomore season he had and the short-term memory that is applied then to Jaden Daniels and people suggesting,
03:05oh, he's obviously now the fifth best quarterback in football and Washington will routinely be in the conference championship game.
03:12Those are preposterous notions in my opinion.
03:14I think one thing that I've learned by listening, watching to coaches and analysts alike is that you really have to address the needs versus your divisional opponents.
03:26Like, Washington is trying to do that.
03:28I'm with Kev.
03:28It's a nice one first year for Quinn and Daniels, but it needs to be a lot better.
03:34We saw the Texans do this when they had a regime change.
03:37Fell back a little bit in year two.
03:39Hopefully that doesn't happen for Washington.
