00:00Now, with promotion back to the Premier League secured for Leeds United, only one objective remains from this season, and that is to win the championship title at present.
00:11They are level on points with Burnley, who have also gone up to the Premier League with them automatically.
00:17Locked in combat, two teams can both win the league, although Leeds do certainly have a better goal difference.
00:23Let's go now to Lee Sobit of the Yorkshire Evening Post.
00:26Lee, thoughts on Leeds winning the title, and does it actually matter, given that the main objective, of course, of this season was just to get back to the Premier League?
00:35But now that that's accomplished, and there's still two games left, and if Leeds win both of them, they will win the title.
00:40I suppose my question is, how much do you want to win the title, and is it something that you all want?
00:47Well, yeah, I think so. It's a trophy, isn't it?
00:50And this club's got rich traditions, obviously, and to follow what Marcello did as well, why not?
00:55And they've got every chance to do it, you know?
00:57They're in pole position, they're in the box seat, and the fact of the matter is, because of their goal difference, if they win the next two games, they'll win the league.
01:04You know, there's not going to be a goal difference swing to that extent.
01:06What is it? Plus 66 and 46, so there's not going to be a goal difference swing to that extent.
01:11So two wins will do it, and, you know, there's every chance that they should do it, really.
01:15I mean, obviously, you've talked about the home record, which has been absolutely phenomenal.
01:18And in Bristol City, it will be difficult, because obviously they're in the playoffs, and I think they need three more points to seal their playoffs place.
01:25But they've got Preston at home on the last game of the season, so they'll probably be eyeing that one if they can't get it at Ellen Road.
01:31Full of respect for them, though, they're a good side, that'll be quite difficult.
01:33But, you know, expect Leeds to win, to be honest.
01:35And then, obviously, final day of the season, Plymouth away, you know, obviously right down the bottom of the division.
01:40Obviously, 12.30 kickoff is not ideal going down to Plymouth, but, you know, Leeds are heading for the Premier League,
01:47and Plymouth look like they're heading for League One, so they should be going down there and winning, basically.
01:52And this is assuming, you know, that Burnley win both of their games, which I suspect they probably will.
01:57But, yeah, I think so.
01:58I think, look, I think the way I put it afterwards when sort of doing post-match videos and stuff was that
02:03if they won the division now on the title, it would be a nice bonus, you know, which I think it is.
02:08But, equally, if there's a chance to go and, you know, get the title and, you know, it's not like a long shot,
02:12you know, your massive odds on favourites to do it because you're in poor positions.
02:14So, absolutely, yeah, you know, cap a fine season with a trophy and Daniel Farkle want another one on his CV as well, obviously.
02:21And, yeah, the favourites to do it and I fully expect them to do it, really.
02:24So, yeah, bring on these next two games.
02:27They're both pretty difficult games, there's no doubt about that.
02:28As I say, I think it's, I think that there's the Plymouth games accentuated by the kickoff time as well, you know, 12.30 all the way down there.
02:34I mean, we know about Leeds' record in lunchtime kickoffs, which has got a bit better.
02:37But it's still not great.
02:38And, obviously, going all the way down there, I mean, Leeds should be too good, really, for Plymouth.
02:42If Plymouth are heading for League One and possibly in Leeds heading for the Premier League, you know, class should rise to the top.
02:47But it'll still be difficult, obviously.
02:48But, first things first, Bristol City.
02:50Yeah, I mean, it's funny, really.
02:52You looked at that game quite a while back and you thought, like, really, obviously, everybody's got a lot of respect for Bristol City.
02:56But they weren't quite as high up in the table as they are now.
02:59And, obviously, like you say, in fifth place and looking like they're going to get in the playoffs,
03:03I think they need three more points to get in there.
03:05So, you know, like, obviously, they'll be going to Ellen Road thinking, well, why not?
03:08You know, let's go and be the second team to win at Ellen Road this season and seal our playoffs place.
03:12But I think, realistically, if they went to Leeds and got a draw, that would be a very good result for them.
03:16And then they've got Preston at home on the last game of the season.
03:18So, it will be hard, though.
03:20They're a tough team to beat.
03:21That said, they did have a setback at the weekend, lost 3-1 at Luton, another team who was scrapping for the lives.
03:26And they have got a few injuries, like, starting to add up a little bit.
03:29And they haven't got a massive, massive squad.
03:31So, you know, I don't know about the sort of, like, running out of gas or whatever,
03:34because I still think they probably will make the playoffs, obviously, with that last game.
03:37But it might, you know, be a reasonably good time for Leeds to play them,
03:43bearing in mind they've got that home game on the horizon to look at as well.
03:47But it will be tough.
03:47Definitely be one of the harder games this season.
03:49I think it was 0-0 away at Ashton Gate, wasn't it?
03:51And, you know, that was sort of, like, seen by many as a good result.
03:54And ultimately, it has been, I suppose, because obviously now they've gone up.
03:58But it will be hard, yeah.
03:59Leeds are odds on favourites, though.
04:01And, as I say, if they're going for the Premier League and the form they're in,
04:04on the back of a 6-0 thumping, you know, I expect them, you know,
04:08that they should realistically go and win.
04:10I'm not saying it will be easy, but they should do, really.
04:11And it will be interesting to see how, like, not having that pressure affects the team as well,
04:16because it might end up, might be, that they end up being even better now.
04:19You know, I don't think this team sort of, like, you know,
04:22you know, sort of shirt the issue or anything under pressure or anything like that.
04:25But the pressure was there, obviously, and the pressure was enormous.
04:27And now, like, the handbrake's off from that perspective.
04:30Do you know what I mean?
04:30And stuff in terms of, like, they might feel a bit more freedom and stuff
04:33to express themselves even more.
04:35I mean, they could end up being even, you know, more relaxed and even better.
04:37So I'd expect them to beat Bristol City, but I do think it'll be difficult.
