00:00And without further ado, Mike Tirico.
00:02Three feet, McIlroy walks up to the ball.
00:05One Lurie back and through.
00:07And he's made it!
00:09He's done it!
00:11It's a grand slam roar at Augusta National.
00:16Rory McIlroy on his knees.
00:20Bent down in a motion, clutching his head.
00:24He's the sixth in the history of the game to enter.
00:28Golf's greatest group.
00:33Well, we are joined now by the voice of the Masters on SiriusXM.
00:37And that was his call on SiriusXM Masters Radio as Rory McIlroy becomes the sixth man in golf history to complete the Grand Slam.
00:46Tell you what, Mike, still gives me chills.
00:48What a Masters that was.
00:50And I imagine you've listened to that call a time or two since the completion of that one.
00:55I've heard it a couple times.
00:56It's great to be with you.
00:57I am your biggest fan, so it's great to be with you.
00:59But two things about that, okay?
01:01Let's just say two things now that we're a week away and we can bring up the shroud of secrecy.
01:07One, it's all-time golf announcer whisper, which we never do because we're always, as you know, you're in a booth.
01:14But at the Masters, the radio position is under the camera tower to the player's left of 18.
01:23And it's maybe 20 paces to the edge of the green.
01:28Wow.
01:28So you are close enough.
01:29So now imagine this now.
01:30So you're up on a riser, maybe a two-, three-foot riser, under the camera tower, gallery ropes around the camera tower.
01:37And you walk in, climb in, go in.
01:39And then you're sitting up at a desk, and you're surrounded by plexiglass.
01:44It's almost like you're a fish in an aquarium.
01:47Like, people, as patrons walk by, you expect them to just, like, tap, tap on the, you know, hello, hi, we're here, like, feed us, feed us over top, right?
01:55So you're right out there in the public.
01:57So you really do have to be quiet because the last thing I want to know is, hey, Rory missed a three-footer for the career grand slam because he heard you describing it.
02:04Like, oh, my God.
02:05So it's full golf whisper, which is…
02:08Amazing.
02:09It's stereotypical.
02:10But then the highlight of the call, if you listen to it again, and feel free to play it again, is Johnson Wagner, who we love, who's with me.
02:18Oh, that was him.
02:19That is his high pitch.
02:22It's the funniest thing on planet Earth.
02:25It's so great.
02:26Like, every time I've heard it, all I do is laugh.
02:29I'm here listening for Johnson.
02:31He was, like, so excited to be there, to be a part of it.
02:35It was really cool, but it was an awesome experience.
02:38It's the last two, Tiger 2000 and that one, I've had the chance to call.
02:44I did Tiger 2000 on TV.
02:46So I think three of them have happened.
02:48There are six.
02:49Three have happened on live TV.
02:52One was in…
02:52The last one was in 65 at the U.S. Open.
02:5566, British Open, was not on live TV in America.
02:59So it's really, you know, in 60 years, happened twice live on American TV or radio in this case.
03:06And I've been lucky to call both, which is just, like, that'll be a career highlight for me for the rest of my life.
03:11So, let's started again.
