02:15« Stand as one »
02:16« Stand as one »
02:17« What does that refer to ? »
02:18« Stand as one »
02:20« Actually, it's a song.
02:22A song by Matt Bastard.
02:24« Everybody »
02:25« Stand as one »
02:27« It's a song about how we can be all different and live together.
02:32I have been building those projects for 25 years,
02:37and all those projects are about human diversity.
02:41We are all different, but we can act like just one person,
02:46so we can stand as one.
02:48For me, to go to the ocean race is a big challenge.
02:51First of all, we have to promote the race with our sponsors.
02:57There is a big logistic topics and money to find.
03:03But I think that it's pretty clear that there is a big value for this race.
03:10And that's why there are so many crew very interesting in the race.
03:14It gives a really complete project to offer to companies.
03:19It's quite a different philosophy.
03:22No, it looks quite different to a lot of the other new generation,
03:26the foiling Immokas.
03:27First of all, the Immokas, the cockpit is open.
03:31I don't want to be like in a submarine.
03:34So this is open.
03:36So for sure, there are water coming.
03:38That's why we have protection like this.
03:40But yeah, I wanted to be able to go and see the sea.
03:44And we have room.
03:48It's very basic.
03:50Four winches.
03:52So this is your chair where you...
03:54Yes, this is the chair where I work.
03:57It's like very minimal.
03:59Yes, and the electricity consumption is like six or seven amperes per hour.
04:08It's twice less than the other boats.
04:13We have solar panels.
04:15We have hydrogenerators.
04:19And we consume very few electricity.
04:23So for example, the screen is very, very small.
04:28Everything is simple.
04:29And that is the most difficult thing to do.
04:33Because complexity is easy.
04:37But simplicity is really difficult to do.
04:41So a lot of the other guys have now very fancy, sophisticated carbon chairs.
04:46Yeah.
04:47With suspension and everything.
04:48Because they need it.
04:49And you have a very...
04:50Yeah.
04:51Well, it looks very basic.
04:52Yeah.
04:53They do need very complex chairs because it's difficult for them to live in those boats.
04:59Because the boat flies and smash on the water, etc.
05:04We don't do that.
05:06So life on board is much easier than on the other boats.
05:10And so that's why I can have this type of chairs.
05:14I've got a very good bed.
05:17And how about converting this boat to have a crew?
05:20Yes.
05:21How would that be?
05:22I think it would be pretty easy because there is room.
05:26There is room everywhere.
05:28So yes, for five people there is no problem.
05:31I don't feel okay for me to sail around the world without seeing the sea.
05:39I need it.
05:40And you know, sometimes the noise inside is so awful.
05:46Sometimes you need to go outside and say, okay, it's not the war.
05:52You know?
05:53And I want to see the sun.
05:55I want to...
05:56And I say that it's not always possible because there is very often a lot of water on the deck.
06:02But I want to have this possibility to go outside.
06:05I need it.
06:06I mean, your route to professional sailing, to professional racing is not the normal route.
06:11You have a bit of a different route.
06:12So could you explain a bit like what your background is and what your route to the Vendée
06:19and hopefully to the ocean races?
06:21Yes.
06:22I first sailed around the world with 45 young disabled people who had cerebral palsy.
06:28That was my first adventure.
06:30So three years around the world with 45 disabled people.
06:33So it's what we're going to offer to the ocean race.
06:38It is the diversity aspect.
06:40I think the most important with the ocean race is human parts.
06:44I was very, very fan of this race because always it was about the people living in the
06:51on board with the crashing, the huge waves on their faces and all the problems they had
06:57on board and how they were able to fix it.
07:00I want to prove that my method is good at the best level.
07:06On the ocean race, it's a top.
07:09So it is interesting for me because it's a challenge I never experienced.
07:13I call it the sailor curse.
07:17all the greatest happiness I had in my life are at sea.
07:23So if I want to be as happy as I experienced before, I have to go back at sea.
07:30Let's go back at sea.
