00:00And another bass player, Rick Savage of Def Leppard.
00:05He turns 60 years old today.
00:08And an odd thing, he's got extra appendages.
00:10Wow, really?
00:11He's got three legs.
00:12He picked it.
00:15When this band was in their height, when Pyromania came out,
00:18I was a huge fan of Def Leppard.
00:21They were great.
00:22I went to that tour.
00:24I went to that concert.
00:25It was awesome.
00:26It was one of my first real rock shows that I went to.
00:30And they were driven by a robust MTV presence.
00:33Oh, my God, yes.
00:34I told you.
00:35I don't remember what year that came out.
00:37It had to have been 84, 85, something like that.
00:40No, it was before that.
00:41Was it?
00:42Yeah, it was like 82, I think.
00:44Okay, hang on.
00:45Pour some sugar on me on that one?
00:48No.
00:49Oh, wait, wait.
00:50Pyromania.
00:51I'm sorry.
00:5283 is when it came out.
00:53Okay.
00:54That is January of 83, and no, it was not on that album.
00:59And what was Pour Some Sugar?
01:01That was a gigantic album, and I can't remember the name of it.
01:03After the Gold Rush?
01:04Not High and Dry.
01:05What the hell was the...
01:06No, High and Dry was early.
01:08Hang on a second here.
01:09Hysteria.
01:10Hysteria.
01:11That's it.
01:12And that was 87.
01:13That was 87.
01:14Okay.
01:15Hysteria.
01:16He was at the pool.
01:17He came with his boom box, you know, a la Lloyd Dobler, blaring, pour some sugar on me,
01:23because he was trying to get pumped up.
01:25He was going to do a triple off of the high dive.
01:27Okay.
01:28And that was his motivational song?
01:29That was his motivation.
01:30Pour some sugar on me?
01:31It's like right out of a movie, right?
01:33Like, you know, basically like jean jacket and jean, you know, cut off jean shorts.
01:37Clear me a path, right?
01:38And he's blaring, pour some sugar on me, and he gets up onto the high dive.
01:45Today is the day.
01:46Today is the day.
01:47He had been working himself up for this for like an entire weekend, right?
01:50Are you ready to do it today?
01:52Oh, my God.
01:53Gandalf showed up.
01:54Oh, my God.
01:55When you're done pouring your sugar, I want to see the greatest dive of all time.
02:00Anyway, what happened?
02:04All right, so what happens is he gets up on the high dive, you know, blaring music.
02:09You and me, babe.
02:11Hey, hey.
02:12He got up.
02:14What did he do?
02:15He counted the three.
02:17He got off at the end of the board.
02:19He did one flip, two flips, two and a half flips, and then landed flat on his back.
02:25He splattered all over the place.
02:28I swear to God, he got up spitting blood because he hit smacks so hard.
02:33That was great, man.
02:35What a great memory.
02:36Rick Savage's birthday.
02:38Sometimes he just heads down that path and you have to let him go.
02:43Oh, my God.
02:44Sometimes in life, you need to let things happen of their own accord.
02:47We need to blush it out.
02:50We learned something about some dude we'll never meet.
02:53Yeah, he's Rick Savage's 60s.
02:56Thank you, Rick Savage.
02:57Thank you for that memory.
02:58Wherever you are.
03:00Damn, that's bad for that energy.
03:01That's your goblet of your car.
03:02While matching to the bar.
03:03Without »: In fair.
