00:00Sports, Dave, what do we got, man?
00:01Okay, let's start with baseball, where despite the Yankees' awful and disappointing season
00:07where they will not make the Major League Baseball playoffs,
00:11Garrett Cole has been one of the very few bright spots.
00:15Cole threw a complete game shutout last night as the Yankees beat the Blue Jays 6-0.
00:20I mean, that's impressive, right?
00:22It's always impressive when he takes the Mountie.
00:24This guy's awesome.
00:25This was one of the very, very few things that Brian Cashman has done right.
00:31Nine innings, just two hits.
00:34So that's a two-hitter, folks.
00:35A complete game shutout two-hitter while also striking out five.
00:40It makes him now 15-4 for the season.
00:43Lowers his ERA to 2.63, which in the American League East,
00:49that's the statistically hardest-hitting division in all of baseball.
00:54So in the AL East, to have a 2.63 ERA where he's pitching against the Red Sox,
01:01Blue Jays, Orioles, and Rays for 20 games a year, I mean, he's had a phenomenal season.
01:08So you think this gets him the Cy Young for the American League?
01:12I think despite the Yankees missing the playoffs,
01:15Garrett Cole is your American League Cy Young winner.
01:18Who decides that?
01:20Riders.
01:20The Riders, okay.
01:21Now, the difference between Cy Young and MVP is they associate in the rules,
01:26in the actual description, MVP is someone who's had a great year
01:31but has contributed to his team winning.
01:34Yeah, that ain't him.
01:35Whereas Cy Young, in the same description, is simply best pitcher in the league.
01:42In the National and then in the American League.
01:46Best pitcher, period.
01:47I don't have a deep insight into it as you do, but it seems to me he'd have to be in the conversation.
01:52Oh, my God.
01:53He's been awesome.
01:54Yeah, 15-4.
01:55And the Yankees have probably also, keep in mind, blown anywhere between six and eight games.
02:00Like, he's had games where he threw eight innings, gave up zero runs, bullpen gave up a run,
02:05and they lost.
02:06Also, Aaron Judge homered twice, bringing his total up to 37.
02:12So, maybe after we fire Brian Cashman, we consider getting Garrett Cole and Aaron Judge some help.
02:19A little bit of support would be nice.
02:20Because these guys are amazing baseball players.
02:24Now, the Mets, they had a doubleheader against the Marlins yesterday in game one.
02:28The Mets crushed by M11-2.
02:30Pete Alonzo slugged his 47th home run of the year.
02:35So, Alonzo's got a few more days to get to 50.
02:38That will be exciting if he can get there again.
02:40Game two, the Mets fell to the Marlins 4-2.
02:43The Phillies took down the Pirates 7-6.
02:45Bryce Harper connected on a seventh inning home run for the Phillies,
02:49which proved to be the difference as they are getting ready for the National League playoffs via a wild card spot.
02:56Basketball, huge story out of the NBA.
02:57As the Portland Trailblazers have traded guard Damian Lillard to the Bucs to play along Giannis.
03:06This is going to throw the East all out of whack.
03:11I was hoping, see, Giannis a few weeks ago said,
03:14if the Bucs aren't serious about winning championships, he wants to get out of there.
03:18I was hoping this meant Giannis could come to the Knicks to play with Jalen Brunson, who's a great point guard.
03:23It looks to me like they did him a solid, got himself some good support.
03:28So, now with Damian Lillard going to the Bucs, I think Milwaukee's the best team in the East.
03:33And this actually makes, in my opinion, it makes it imperative that the Knicks try to get Joel Embiid from the Sixers,
03:40because they have to compete.
03:42You got to, you've, I mean, who are you putting in the conversation?
03:44The Sixers and the Celtics, right?
03:46Yeah, I mean, the Sixers, the Heat, let's not forget about them.
03:49They made it to the NBA Finals last year.
03:51But I think Jalen Brunson needs him.
03:53Yeah, but they came from, like, way back, right?
03:55Yeah, but they have the roster.
03:58You know, they have Jimmy Butler.
04:00But the incredible thing is the Heat were looking to get Damian Lillard,
04:02so the Bucs getting him is a huge deal.
04:05Football Jets head coach Robert Sala says he has no problem with Aaron Judge,
04:10I mean, excuse me, Aaron Rodgers' comments about not pointing fingers at each other.
04:15Yeah, of course.
04:16There were some arguments on the sidelines between the Jets players and coaches this past Sunday.
04:21Anybody who wants to pull the blanket up over their head, Sala's going to be okay with.
04:27And if that's Aaron Rodgers, okay, great.
04:31And meanwhile, not to be outdone by that news, more Jets news.
04:36Get ready, Swifties.
04:38Taylor Swift is going to be in the house this Sunday when Travis Kelsey and the Kansas City Chiefs visit MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
04:50So if the Chiefs rack up 70 points, 71 points, they outdo Miami, and somehow they do 71 points against my great Jets defense,
05:01because it doesn't look so good as we're supposed to, then they'll be talking about Taylor Swift.
05:07Taylor Swift.
05:08Not that big Jets fail.
05:10I wonder if this actually means you will get Taylor Swift fans in the parking lot.
05:17Maybe they can't get into the game.
05:18Yes, you will.
05:19But I wonder if this means thousands of Swifties will try to get to MetLife just to get a glimpse of Taylor.
05:24100%, no question about it.
05:25So if you're going to the game this Sunday, you could be looking at, like, the worst traffic jam ever.
05:31If you're smart and you're a Jets season ticket holder, guess what you're selling online for a high price, right?
05:38Yeah, I probably don't even go.
05:39But at the same time, it's always cool to see Patrick Mahomes as he's one of the greats ever.
