00:00Well, he is one half of one of the most successful duos of all time in country music.
00:04He is a Florida boy.
00:06He is a tall drink of water.
00:08Yes, he is.
00:08He's a tall dude, okay?
00:10On the phone right now, it is Ryan Kelly, ladies and gentlemen.
00:14Let's go!
00:15How are you?
00:16Thanks for having me.
00:17Dude, thanks for being on.
00:18I appreciate it.
00:19First of all, let's do a quick check-in with the family.
00:21How's everybody doing?
00:22How are the animals?
00:23How's the wife?
00:24What's going on?
00:25Man, just great.
00:26I mean, the dogs are great.
00:27They're just an awesome pack.
00:30You know, three of them are just about nine, and the other one, our fourth one, Sunday, she's eight.
00:35So we've had them for a hot second, and they're in a groove.
00:38It's just a really special time with them, our dogs, and Brittany's doing amazing.
00:43I left really early this morning, so she was still sleeping.
00:46But, man, just written two songs, or sorry, three songs in the past two days.
00:51So back to work, just getting it as hard as I can,
00:54and just grateful for all the opportunities ahead of me and in front of me.
00:58And, man, See You Next Summer has really kind of blown my mind the past couple weeks with the response.
01:04And just, man, it feels good to hear this on the radio.
01:07I just couldn't be more excited, humbled, fired up, hungry, you know?
01:12Here we go.
01:13Quality of life is through the roof.
01:15I love that, man.
01:16It sounds like you're in a great space, and we're playing See You Next Summer, and we're loving the song.
01:19And it's kind of a great anthem, and as you know, it's got kind of a Florida vibe to it.
01:24Yeah, yeah.
01:25I dig that, man, because we're boat people, too, so out on the boat, it's a jam.
01:31I appreciate that.
01:32You know, I didn't write this song, and it might surprise people, because when I first heard it,
01:37I felt like I had written it.
01:38I go, man, they absolutely freaking nailed that song.
01:41And, you know, it really goes back to kind of this mindset.
01:46The past, you know, six, seven months, I've had my head down just writing, focused on songs,
01:50and also told my team, hey, I'm down for some outside songs.
01:54It's kind of that Garth, Kenny model of, I want to write as much as I can, but best song wins.
01:59And I'm down to be the voice of a song that I didn't write.
02:02Like, if it resonates with me, and it feels like I would have written that or couldn't have written that
02:07and need that song, like, I'm totally down.
02:09And there's no ego involved in that process for me.
02:12So I just really resonated with this song.
02:14It felt fresh.
02:15And, you know, I am and have lived that song.
02:18I told Brittany, you know, when we first, we're going on 10 years married in December,
02:21which is incredible.
02:23And time is really, really flying.
02:25Congratulations.
02:27Yeah, I just was like, hey, like, I can't wait to marry you.
02:30I can't wait to just start our life together.
02:31Like, I want to see you, you know, next summer and every summer after that.
02:35And that's what that song is for me.
02:36It's a forever kind of love song, not just a summer song.
02:39Yeah.
02:40Well, Brian, let me ask you this.
02:41You know, obviously, we know you wrote for FGL for so long, and now you're writing for
02:46yourself.
02:47I got to think that you've really had to kind of shift your mindset when it comes to, okay,
02:51I'm not writing for two people anymore.
02:53I'm just writing for one person.
02:55Has that been a challenge for you?
02:57Hmm.
02:58Not, no, I don't think so.
02:59I don't think.
03:00I think it's a little easier, to be honest with you.
03:03Because you're only worried about one person and one preference?
03:05Yeah, yeah.
03:06And both are great.
03:07You know, it's a great exercise.
03:08You know, when you're in a team and you're in a duo, and it's a whole thing, and it's
03:11great.
03:12I love it, and I loved it.
03:13And I'm so proud of us and everything that we were able to do.
03:16Forever grateful.
03:17But when you're trying to represent yourself, and it's kind of this solo thing, yeah, I
03:22think it, for me, it's easier to kind of filter out lines and ideas.
03:25It's like, nope, not doing that.
03:27Not doing that.
03:27Let's kind of take it this direction.
03:30So there's a little bit of a freedom in approaching it that way, I think, for sure.
03:34Man, I really am having the time of my life, and it's just kind of getting started.
03:39Well, it doesn't sound like it at all.
03:40It sounds like you're really down in the dumps.
03:41No, man, I couldn't be more excited for you in this next chapter, I would call it, in
03:49your life and in your career.
03:50And this is great, dude.
03:52And we're excited to see you.
03:54We got to give you a sneak peek when you were here at the Dallas Bowl, but now you got your
03:57music coming out.
03:58You're writing like crazy.
04:00I appreciate you coming on with us today.
04:01See you next summer is the single, Get It, It's Blowing Up.
04:04And Brian Kelly, we wish you nothing but the best, my friend.
04:08Hey, appreciate all the support, and look forward to being back in Tampa ASAP.
04:11Let's do it.
04:12Let's do it.
04:12Let's go.
04:13You know I'm down.
04:14Can't wait, dude.
04:15We'll see you soon.
04:16Sounds good.
04:16See you.
04:16All right, Brian.
