00:00Ladies and gentlemen, on the phone right now, he, uh, you know, we always say it, but one of the best beards I've ever seen in my life.
00:05I mean, I've seen it up close. He let me tug on it once. It was unbelievable.
00:08He taught us a slow dance in the parking lot.
00:10He told us how to single somebody up, and now he knows what the world spins around, ladies and gentlemen, Jordan Davis.
00:15Jordan Davis!
00:16Hey, hey, what's going on?
00:18How are you? Happy New Year.
00:20I'm doing great. Happy New Year, 2023.
00:23Dude, talk about your 2022. What a giant year for you.
00:27I mean, obviously, we talked about Luke Bryan by Dirt. You've been on a couple of big tours as well, and now What My World Spends Around, being a two-week number one.
00:35Literally, it's my favorite song on the radio. I kid you not. You can ask them. It's my favorite song on the radio.
00:40Thank you very much. Yeah, that one's been a wild one. Definitely didn't see it doing as well as it did, but I wrote that.
00:48Yeah, me and Ryan Hurd. Ryan Hurd's a co-writer on that with me, and, you know, that one is not only that I feel like it sounds good on the radio, man. It's fun to play live.
00:55It's a great song. It's a good song, yeah.
00:58And for 2023, we've got some big tours lined up for yourself, right? You're going overseas. Is it with Thomas Rhett?
01:03Yeah, Thomas Rhett doing the C2C stuff. Also doing Canada in February with Thomas Rhett, and it's supposed to be about negative 30 in a couple of spots.
01:11I was going to say, I heard the weather's beautiful in February in Canada.
01:13Yeah, I need to teach weather to my booking agent.
01:22Buy him a thermometer.
01:24Yeah, it's actually good. I was actually texting with Thomas the other day, so he's like, hey, man, we can't do anything else but be trapped inside, so we might as well write some songs.
01:31So hopefully, me and Thomas will have some new tunes.
01:34Well, speaking of new music, your album comes out February 17th. I've been dying to hear this. I've been bribing people trying to hear this first. It's called Bluebird Days. So what is this? Tell me about it. Is this a double album? What are we looking at?
01:47Yeah, we've got 17 total on it. I think three of them are out now. I think we're going to release two more in between now and the release of it.
01:55I feel like Buy Dirt did a lot of things for me as a writer. It made me real confident, and there's some stuff on here that some songs I never thought I'd write about.
02:03I don't know. I feel like I hope that I show some growth in this record, and I'm really ready for y'all to hear it.
02:10Yeah, man, we're excited to hear it. You're on fire, so I have no doubt that there's going to be some great writing.
02:13And there's something about having Luke Bryan on your cell phone that makes you want to puff your chest out.
02:16So like you said, Buy Dirt did a lot for you. There's that confidence level right there. Be like, you know what? Maybe I just need to text Luke right now.
02:22Yeah. Yeah, definitely. He's probably hunting right now. He's pretty heavy into duck hunting right now.
02:28Very cool. You think?
02:29He's busy right now, but he would definitely get back to me.
02:33That's cool, man. Well, listen, we are a month into 2023, but I've got to ask you, because you did so much touring in 2022, what was the hardest gig you played in 2022?
02:42It was the last show of the year. We played in Oklahoma City. It was the last show on the Luke Holmes tour, and I had caught word that there was a prank in the works.
02:52And I usually never saw Luke before the show, because he's either doing meet and greet or he's doing his VIP, and so my walk to the stage, I never saw Luke.
03:04But on the last show of the year, I saw Luke, and I was like, this is weird. So the hardest show for me to play was the last show, because I knew something was coming. So for 60 minutes, I'm up there with my head on a swivel like, is somebody going to attack me? What's going to happen? And then he made me sweat it out to the last song. So that was definitely the hardest show I've had to play all year.
03:30Well, what did he do?
03:31Well, if you guys missed it on Instagram, it's actually pretty cool. Go ahead, Jordan.
03:34Yeah. So the initial prank was he had bought a dump truck full of dirt, and he was truly going to trap my bus on to go to the parking lot.
03:42That's awesome.
03:43He was going to pour dirt in front of my door and in front of my trailer so that I had to get a shovel and move the dirt in order to get out of Oklahoma City. It rained the night before. Mother Nature helped me out. It rained the night before, so all the dirt turned into mud. So he had to cancel that. So instead, he went and bought a bunch of bags of sod and just locked me out of my dressing room.
04:04Oh, my goodness.
04:05That's awesome.
04:06You got to buy dirt. I love it.
04:07He walked on stage. He walked on stage right before I played by dirt and announced it to everybody. And then poured a bunch of dirt on my carpet. So I got to play by dirt, stand in dirt.
04:18There you go.
04:19Kind of a full circle. It was kind of a break, but it was actually kind of a cool moment, too, that you were standing in dirt singing it, too.
04:26Absolutely.
04:26All right, brother. Well, listen, we appreciate your time this morning. I really am so pumped to see you live again and also to be able to hear your new album because right now you are on fire. And mark my words, Jordan Davis will be your next headliner at Arenas. I have said that on the air multiple times. He will be your next big-time headliner, if it's the amphitheater or whatnot. And I can't wait to see you in person and go. Told you.
04:49Well, I sure appreciate that. And thank you all so much for supporting the tunes and looking forward to y'all hearing this new stuff.
04:54All right, brother. Take care, Jordan.
04:55All right. Thank you all. Appreciate it.
