00:00All right, excited to talk to this guy, and some would say that I have a man crush.
00:04Yeah, you definitely do.
00:05Okay, we'll skip past that.
00:07He does have a fantastic beard, I will tell you that.
00:10You know him from songs like Take It From Me, Slow Dance in a Parking Lot, Almost Maybes,
00:15Buy Dirt, What My World Spins Around, ladies and gentlemen, Jordan Davis.
00:22Hey, what's going on, y'all?
00:24Thanks for letting me call in.
00:25Absolutely, man.
00:26Thanks for being on the show.
00:27We appreciate you.
00:28Well, first and foremost, What My World Spins Around, another number one for you.
00:31Congratulations on that.
00:33Man, that was a crazy one.
00:35We wrote that song during the pandemic, so it was almost two years old after we released it.
00:39So it was cool to finally see it get its day.
00:41Well, is that weird for you, too?
00:42It's like, okay, well, I wrote this song a couple years ago, and we were all excited about it two years ago,
00:46but I wasn't able to put it out until now.
00:48I mean, is that weird for you for people to get excited two years later?
00:51Because you're kind of like, well, this is kind of old news for us.
00:53Well, you know what's wild is we put an EP out that didn't have that on it.
00:58So we had it written, and it didn't make an EP that we put out that had almost maybes on it.
01:04So we actually went back and grabbed that one for Bluebird Days.
01:09So I guess we kind of missed it, if you want to be honest.
01:12Well, thank God you found it.
01:15Yeah.
01:16Yeah, man, from the moment we heard it, we were big fans of it, so that was awesome.
01:20And then Bluebird Days, I was so excited for you to put that out.
01:22And couldn't be more excited, too, because you're going to be here July 14th with Mr. Dierks Bentley,
01:27which means your air travel is all taken care of because he's flying.
01:31Dude, I told him, I was like, man, I'm hopping, I'm riding shotgun.
01:36I guess I'm flying shotgun all the way over to as many shows as I can.
01:39So who knows, you know, maybe he'll let me take the wheel a couple of times.
01:43If he let John Party take the wheel, I have a good feeling he's going to let you take it, Jordan.
01:48Yeah, absolutely.
01:50I think if Party didn't crash it, I think that I'm good.
01:55And I think he has a plan with the parachute, so you're good to go, too.
01:58Yeah, we're safe.
02:00Congratulations, nominated for the Male Artist of the Year coming up.
02:06Yeah, that was crazy.
02:06I didn't expect to be in that category.
02:10I mean, you know, obviously it's one of the most special ones of the entire show.
02:16So to be in there with so many names like Chris Stapleton, Morgan, Luke, Kane, you know,
02:21guys that I'm pretty much all toured with to play shows with, you know,
02:26it's just crazy to see my name with those guys.
02:28But I'm very grateful to the ACMs for the nomination.
02:31Well, well-deserved, man.
02:33Yeah, absolutely.
02:33I heard a quote, you're like, man, there's a lot of heavy hitters in this category.
02:38I'm not sure I belong in there.
02:40You 100% belong in there, man, because you've been putting song after song out that is just so good.
02:45And you just got to style your own.
02:47Like, it's kind of one of those things where they say about artists, the big artists,
02:50you know who they are, the first word out of their mouth.
02:54And that is a Jordan Davis song right there, for sure.
02:56Well, I appreciate that.
02:57We've definitely been working hard on that.
03:00You know, it took a lot of years of writing songs in Nashville to find it.
03:03But we definitely feel like we're in a good spot right now.
03:07And thanks to you all for supporting the music, the fans for showing up.
03:10And hopefully they're going to show up and see me and Dirk rock it.
03:12Yep.
03:13Absolutely.
03:14We'll be out there July 14th.
03:15Talking to Jordan Davis right now.
03:17Let's talk about at home.
03:19You've got a busy life at home, too, not just the road.
03:22Oh, gosh.
03:23You can probably hear it right now.
03:25My daughter's sick.
03:26My son's sick.
03:27Sounds like I woke up with it this morning.
03:30Oh, man.
03:31You used to kind of come back.
03:33And, you know, Mondays were kind of go hang out, catch up with friends.
03:37You know, we just got off the road yesterday.
03:39So now it's kiddos and getting ready for a third one coming in a couple weeks.
03:44Wow.
03:45So we're definitely – we got our hands full.
03:48I'll say this.
03:49I'm very happy to go to bus call and take off on the road.
03:53Well, it's cool, too, because you've got to get a dose of reality when you come home, too.
03:57You're like, man, I just sold out of an arena.
03:59Everybody was chanting my name.
04:01And then, oh, by the way, babe, I don't feel well, and you need to change some diapers.
04:05Yeah.
04:05Let's go.
04:05Yeah.
04:06Yeah.
04:06Your daughter's sick.
04:07Your son hasn't stopped running around since 5 a.m., and you've been gone for two days, so you're up.
04:13Yeah.
04:14Yep.
04:15Again, we can't wait to see you out here with Dirk Spanley.
04:18I've got to ask you, how did this Peyton Manning karaoke session come to be?
04:23And obviously we now know that you are better than Peyton Manning at something, which would be singing.
04:29So that's got to feel good.
04:31Yeah.
04:31But now how did that come to be?
04:33Where were you guys at?
04:34So that was actually in Augusta.
04:35We were down there for the Masters weekend, and I was playing a show, and I invited him out.
04:42I got to know Peyton a couple years ago through a hunting buddy.
04:47Okay.
04:47So we just kind of got to know each other, both Louisiana guys, so we kind of stayed in touch.
04:51Obviously, you know, the Mannings, our royalty, being from Louisiana, I was a huge fan of Archie and Eli and Cooper and obviously Peyton.
05:00So it's been a cool friendship, and we just kind of stayed in touch, and he came out to the show.
05:05I know he's a huge country fan.
05:07I know he's a Johnny Cash fan, so I was like, hey, Peyton, I'm going to play some Johnny Cash, and you get up and sing.
05:13He said he'd do it.
05:14I did not think he would do it.
05:15Wow.
05:16But we broke into some Johnny Cash, and he jumped on stage and grabbed the mic, so it made for definitely a cool moment.
05:24And he knew every word.
05:26Oh, every single word.
05:27It looked like you had a little liquid courage going, too, though, Jordan.
05:30Yeah.
05:31You know, he's a hair flat, you know, for the entire song.
05:34A hair flat.
05:36But, hey, it's A for effort.
05:39You know, I told him after it, you know, Peyton was like, hey, how'd that do?
05:42And I was like, you know what, Peyton?
05:43You're one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever live.
05:45How about that?
05:48We'll just forget the other part.
05:50Oh, man, that's awesome.
05:51Well, listen, we know that your wife is expecting, like you said, in just a couple weeks, a third baby coming.
05:56So prayers, thoughts, nothing but good vibes sitting in your way for that.
06:00And thank you so much for coming on with us, dude.
06:02And we are huge fans of you.
06:04And I know you probably hear that from a lot of radio stations.
06:06But these two in here can tell you that there's probably a little bit of a man crush coming from me on Jordan Davis.
06:11Oh, yeah.
06:12Because I call it every time.
06:13This is your next headliner, people.
06:14I tell your record, people, that same thing.
06:16This is your next headliner.
06:17I mean, big time stadiums and amphitheaters.
06:22You are the guy, I'm telling you.
06:23Well, I sure appreciate it.
06:24And y'all been there from day one.
06:25So thank you for the support.
06:27And I can't wait to see y'all here in a couple weeks.
06:29All right, brother.
06:30Sounds good.
06:31Thanks so much, Jordan.
06:31See you.
06:32Thank y'all.
