00:00No one understands the dedication and sacrifice it takes to be a first responder better than their loved ones.
00:06Tampa Bay's morning crew would like to honor someone in our community.
00:09It's First Responder Friday, brought to you by our friends at Primeline Capital Home Loan Experts on 99.5 QIK.
00:17Right now we have Wendy on the phone. Good morning, Wendy. How are you doing?
00:21I'm good. How are you guys today?
00:23We're doing great. We're excited to recognize your son, Nicholas, because he is a first responder in our community.
00:29Tell us how he serves us as a first responder.
00:32Well, he's an EMT with Sunstar here in Pinellas County.
00:36He's been EMT with them since 2016.
00:40As a matter of fact, he is working today.
00:42I just texted him and he is out working and trying to get the day to go by faster.
00:50Well, you know, we always like to ask this, and especially since you are his mom,
00:55where did you see, like, what time in his life did you see,
00:58like, all right, this might be a field that he goes into?
01:00Well, he's had a lot of interest.
01:02He, at first, wanted to be a FWC, a Florida Wildlife Conservation Officer,
01:08and then I don't really know exactly what it was, but something just clicked with him.
01:13He's a people person, and he's got a knack for it.
01:18So when there's a call that involves a child, whatever the call may be, that's just what he does.
01:26And he has his moments like everybody else about the job, but I think 99% of the time he doesn't say it,
01:33but I think he likes and loves what he does, especially when he can save someone's life.
01:38And when he first started, he said to me, Mom, I want to be known as that EMT that saved someone's life.
01:45And I told him in the very beginning, I said, it will happen, but it's going to take time.
01:50And I noticed that he got those words out of my mouth, and it was maybe six months to a year later,
01:55he got a call to a restaurant.
01:58A lady was passed out in her car.
02:01He pulled her out, and he saved her life.
02:03And in a few hours, it was around all the hubs within Pinellas County of what he had done.
02:08And I told him, I said, see, you got what you asked for.
02:11And he's gotten accolades, he's gotten letters.
02:15I just get chills, and I start to cry because I know that he's out there with all the other first responders,
02:21police officers, doing what they love, saving lives, and making people happy.
02:26Well, thank you so much, Wendy.
02:27I think that's a great explanation right there.
02:29All right, so if you and Nicholas were sitting down at the dinner table, and you asked him his favorite part of the job,
02:34what would he say?
02:35Oh, boy.
02:37I think if I were to, I've never asked him that, but I think if I were to ask him.
02:41Well, there you go.
02:41Wendy, I just gave you guys a great conversation to talk about.
02:44I think if I were to ask him what his favorite part of the job is, that he brings a smile to someone's face.
02:52I love hearing this.
02:53I mean, Nicholas sounds like a heck of a guy and a heck of a first responder,
02:56and we are very thankful for him and our community.
02:59You sound like a proud mama, Wendy, which I love hearing that as well.
03:02We'd like to do this for Nicholas.
03:04We'd like to give him a $100 gift card from our friends at Primeline Capital Home Loan Experts.
03:10Just a small way of saying thank you.
03:12He can use it any way he sees fit.
03:13Hopefully, he takes his mom out to dinner or something like that.
03:15That might be smart.
03:17But anyway, just a small token of our appreciation.
03:20Please give our love to him, and happy holidays to you and your family.
03:24Thank you so much.
03:24I'm going to have you hang on for me, and we're going to get all your info, okay?
03:28Okay, sounds great.
03:29Those stories are the ones we love to hear, and we'd love to hear from you.
03:33First Responder Friday or Military Monday, hit us up right now at 995QIK.com,
