00:00Just three days away from the opening night in the opening round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
00:06We get you set with all the information you need to know entering Green Bay, Wisconsin
00:11and round number one on a Thursday night.
00:15DRS, there hasn't been a ton of draft conversation or at least some of that buzz in hoopla.
00:21It's a draft cycle and a process known for its smoke screens, known for its speculation.
00:26But really, that's a lot of quarterback chatter and the only quarterback chatter we really
00:31have to figure out is where does Shador Sanders go and how many signal callers are we going
00:37to see in round number one on Thursday?
00:40Because right now, when you look at the odds with no movement in the draft order, all 32
00:46NFL clubs still hold on to their original first round pick.
00:50The odds board also kind of making it seem like this is going to be only a matter of
00:57fact.
00:57Here are the top 10 in terms of the opening round in the 2025 NFL Draft.
01:02The Titans won, Browns two.
01:04Giants three, Patriots and Jaguars round out the top five.
01:09Raiders, Jets, Panthers, Saints and Bears end out that top 10.
01:14And again, DRS, one of the main stories is the lack of movement in the draft order for
01:20the first time in the modern era of the NFL draft, seven rounds dating back to 1994 or since
01:27we saw the NFL expand to 32 organizations back in 2002, reaching the league year, which
01:34started on Wednesday, March 12th.
01:36It is the first time the league year has begun and then a month after it that we see all
01:4232 NFL clubs with their original first round pick still in their possession.
01:48Yeah, you know what?
01:49I think the NFL absolutely loves this, to be honest.
01:51Now, granted, we love the trading and the mixing, matching and teams training up.
01:55But if you are looking from a ratings perspective, what's the best night one rating you can get?
01:59All 32 teams have a pick and all 32 teams pick in the first round.
02:02So that team city is going to stay engaged no matter how long that happens.
02:06It's interesting, too, because you might think like even into the future, like the NFL saying
02:10you can't trade away a first round draft pick because, number one, it's not good for us
02:14for ratings wise.
02:15And number two, why don't you just keep that pick?
02:17Because you're probably going to blow it and spend it on somebody else.
02:19You shouldn't have done that.
02:20Now, granted, they're never going to institute that.
02:21But I think it's interesting that everybody has a pick, at least right now, leading up to
02:26the draft.
02:26We'll see how it plays out in that instance.
02:28Teams are going to make trades.
02:29Teams are going to trade out of the first round.
02:31Teams are going to trade back into the first round.
02:32That certainly will change.
02:34But it is interesting that nobody has given away that first round draft pick in the years
02:38previous that will come back to bite them in this draft tonight.
02:41So excuse me, Thursday.
02:42So everybody's live.
02:44Yeah.
02:44And DRS, it's a great point, right?
02:46No picks that have been a part of a blockbuster deal two, three, four years ago.
02:51No trades that have happened at the end of the season for a team in desperate need of more
02:56than likely a quarterback to find their way up the board.
02:59Of course, who drafted first overall last year, the Chicago Bears.
03:03But it wasn't because they finished with the worst record in the National Football League.
03:07It was the trade of the year prior for the Panthers to move up to number one.
03:11We haven't seen that either in years previous or so far in this draft cycle since the end
03:17of the 2024 NFL season as we get ready for 2025.
03:21So no movement DRS in terms of the draft order.
03:25How about the draft odds?
03:26The only movement we have really seen, a couple of prospects have moved.
03:31Travis Hunter, now the minus money favorite to go second.
03:34It was Abdul Carter early on in this process.
03:36So they have flip-flopped.
03:38The main movement has been the solidifying of these hefty, hefty minus money favorites.
03:43Cam Ward, minus 20,000 to go first overall.
03:47Travis Hunter, now a minus 900 favorite to go second overall.
03:52Abdul Carter, minus 480 at third.
03:54Will Campbell, minus 470 at fourth.
03:57And even that fifth spot where Jacksonville selects, Mason Graham is a minus 160 favorite.
04:03DRS, you look at the top five, everybody in a minus money price.
04:08In four of the top five, a $4 favorite or greater.
04:12Have we figured out exactly what the top five is going to look like
04:15by the time we get to Thursday evening?
04:18It looks like it does make some sense.
04:20Now, again, it only takes one team that likes another team from a draft board
04:23that many teams don't have to sort of shake things up.
04:25But sometimes, you know, there's the early online movements that we talk about.
04:29Like, okay, it moved a dollar or two this week, but we still have three weeks to go.
04:33You're in the final week, which means leaks are coming out.
04:36And these organizations have had months and months and months to get ready for these picks coming up,
04:42which means that they're probably not changing all that much over the final four or five days.
04:46Like, if you're not sold on Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter going to Cleveland,
04:50what type of organization do you have and what type of power struggle are you actually going to?
04:53So there's no surprise that Travis Hunter is minus 900 because probably the vibes out of Cleveland are like,
04:58yeah, we just signed Miles Garrett back.
05:00We have our defensive end.
05:01Abdul Carter is fantastic.
05:02But boy, if we can get a Swiss Army knife as good as Travis Hunter, who could be a generational player,
05:06we can't pass that up.
05:08So that's why he goes from the minus 200 to the minus 400.
05:10Now the minus 900, just a few days left before the draft.
05:13Even though I still think Abdul Carter is the best overall player in the draft,
05:17it's just a matter of how that certain organization perceives him.
05:20And make no mistake about it.
05:21They're putting out feelers that Travis Hunter is going to be that number two pick.
05:24And also, the interesting part would be as if Cleveland does trade out,
05:28what do they do and who would come up?
05:29Would they take Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter?
05:31I'm still holding out hope that there's a chance it's Abdul Carter now a five to one price
05:35to be number two overall.
05:37But you can't doubt the odds sometimes.
05:39We do see upsets.
05:40But the fact that this is moving so significantly in the mention of Travis Hunter,
05:44that gives me a pause thinking that, you know what?
05:46He probably is going to be the number two overall pick.
05:49Yeah, DRS, it does really seem like that.
05:52Again, these are not markets that come with a power rating or an algorithm.
05:56You are doing things based on what you are believing the NFL organizations are going to do,
06:02what the oddsmakers are hearing, those reports, just like all of us.
06:06But there hasn't been a ton of indication that Cleveland is even looking at anybody outside
06:11of Travis Hunter.
06:13The Giants, yes, have worked out Shador Sanders.
06:16They had that final private workout in Boulder on Thursday morning this past week,
06:20one week out from the NFL draft.
06:22But really, no strong indication the Giants, after making the moves early this offseason
06:27for Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, are invested in a quarterback, at least for the
06:33top three DRS.
06:35I think that's exactly what we see.
06:37Ward, Hunter, Carter in that order.
06:41Now, some new reports this morning, some NFL draft buzz, if you will, from ESPN's Adam Schefter
06:48that the team drafting fifth overall, the Jacksonville Jaguars, with a rookie head coach
06:53in Liam Cohen, could be the wild card in the top five, where they could look to trade out
07:00of that spot.
07:01And could a team hunting down a quarterback, looking to take manners into their own hands,
07:08make a drastic move up the odds board?
07:11We'll have that conversation up next, because if we do see a change in the top five, it's
07:17probably going after Shador Sanders.
07:19That's next.
07:20The quarterback question for the 2025 NFL draft in mainly night number one.
07:26How many QBs do we see have their name called on Thursday night in Green Bay?
07:32DRS, a couple of changes to the draft list attendees that were made public on Friday afternoon,
07:38and most notably, Jackson Dart, who originally was listed as one of the 17 guys who had accepted
07:45an invite to attend the NFL draft, is no longer coming to Green Bay based on those reports,
07:52and yet Dart is still a minus 700 favorite to be a first-round pick.
07:58Again, I believe there's only two quarterbacks worthy of a first-round grade or selection
08:02in the 2025 NFL draft.
08:05The oddsmakers say there will be three going in the first round.
08:09Jalen Milrow still set to attend the NFL draft in Green Bay later this week, a plus-130 price.
08:16DRS, how many quarterbacks go in round number one?
08:19We're getting to these three.
08:21I do believe that.
08:22And again, it all matters in the late first rounds, because the reason why it's a little
08:26bit overloaded is it's not just the premise that quarterbacks get overdrafted.
08:29They do, because if you don't have a good quarterback, you're always reaching for a quarterback.
08:32That's what happens.
08:34But the difference between we could have, let's just say, a couple second-round grades.
08:38Well, they get busted up the first-round grades automatically because you get the extra year
08:42where it's like, you know what?
08:42He might be a little bit more of a project.
08:44We could sit him on the bench here.
08:45We control his rights for longer.
08:46So why would I wait till pick 38 when I can just trade up to pick 31 or 32?
08:51I'll have to spend some capital, but get an entire extra year of control over that quarterback
08:56to see if he truly can be our franchise guy.
08:58That's why we take a look at the guys and say, well, they're not really first-round grades.
09:01It doesn't matter.
09:02The extra year sort of bumps that up.
09:04If you had no restrictions and everybody, Ben, was slotted with a five-year contract from
09:08round one to round seven, you wouldn't see those trade-ups into the first round.
09:12You would just wait to get them in the second round, lower pay slot, and be fine with that.
09:15But that's why I think we're going to have multiple quarterbacks outside just the top
09:18two we think are going.
09:20I do think there's going to be at least three quarterbacks taken in the first round, not
09:23because they deserve the first round or have a first-round grade on them, per se, but
09:27the fact that you get the extra year of control, somebody's going to slide into one of those
09:3030, 31, or 32 slots and grab a quarterback.
09:34And there is always that bump for the quarterbacks, especially as the draft nears, because you can
09:40alter the shape of your franchise with the most important position in all of football.
09:46And, Donnie, at the end of either the NFL or college football season, it felt pretty
09:51matter-of-fact we were going to have two quarterbacks go in the top five, the top ten, maybe even
09:56one and two.
09:58Cam Ward, who's a minus 20,000 favorite to go first overall, only a matter of time to
10:03be made confirmed and official on Thursday night.
10:07But Shador Sanders, where exactly does he fall in the NFL draft?
10:12Could it be at number three overall with the Giants?
10:14And perhaps it's a plus 450 price right now.
10:19Abdul Carter, the hefty minus money favorite.
10:22Could he go in the top ten?
10:24It's a minus 250 price on Sanders to do just that.
10:28The most likely landing spot for the team to draft Shador Sanders based on the odds remains
10:34the New Orleans Saints at a plus 160 price.
10:37But that price was as short as plus 105 around this time last week.
10:43DRS, the Saints, have the ninth overall pick with a rookie head coach and the offensive
10:48mind in Kellen Moore.
10:51They have not paid a quarterback in the last two offseasons.
10:54They've just held on to Derek Carr.
10:57Logistically, it makes a lot of sense for Shador to find his way to the Big Easy.
11:01Is that what you would bet right now?
11:04Yeah, probably.
11:05It really fits in there.
11:06Also, I think Shador Sanders has a great landing spot for the Pittsburgh Steelers as well.
11:09And there's no surprise that they're one, two listed in that odds market.
11:13But understand this, too.
11:14Like, we're reading the tea leaves here.
11:15And some organizations are very paranoid, and rightfully so.
11:19It wasn't long ago where you got sort of that draft room experience where John Gruden and
11:22Mike Mayock for the Raiders, they wouldn't let anybody outside of those two see the actual
11:27draft board and the players that they have listed.
11:29Now, understand this.
11:30Like, if you were a general manager of a football team and you're coming up in the top five
11:34and you know who you like, you probably have, what, 30 to 40 to 50 people looking at that
11:39board, understanding that you may have some bad apples in the room sharing information,
11:44leaking information, and blowing it up.
11:46So I don't mind when I see, like, why would a general manager not actually show his scouts
11:49the draft board that he wants?
11:50Because you are absolutely in fear of your life saying, I like this player.
11:55Nobody's talking about it.
11:56And 24 hours before the draft, hey, just got word that the Giants are in love with Shador
12:00Sanders at three.
12:00You're like, how did they get that?
12:02I didn't share that with anybody but my 30 scouts at this point here.
12:05So I do think that's interesting.
12:06But again, for me, with Shador Sanders, if he goes to New Orleans, I think it works.
12:10If he goes to Pittsburgh, I think it works.
12:12He's a talented quarterback and you don't win football games unless you have a young,
12:16talented quarterback in your building and giving him a chance there.
12:19So it does make some sense for those first two teams on that list.
12:22And again, the dramatic movement here.
12:25The Steelers price opened at 17 to one.
12:28I bet it at nine to one.
12:30Now, three weekends ago, the Steelers have the second best price to get Shador.
12:35They draft 21st overall, but maybe some trades can happen.
