00:00So the American League Cy Young, definitely, you know, somewhat wide open.
00:04Garrett Crochet has pitched fantastic, but by no means is this a lock to win the Cy Young in the American League.
00:10Tariq Skubal, who won last year, is plus 370.
00:13Gilbert plus 750.
00:14And then, look, a lot of other decent options, too.
00:17I mean, Brian Wu at 30-1.
00:18He's been fantastic for Seattle with Kirby out.
00:22He's really stepped into that front role along with Gilbert there.
00:25Freed has done a good job for the Yankees as well.
00:28Is there anyone here on the board that you like their market more than another?
00:32So I think there's a point to be made about Max Freed, potentially.
00:36And this just may come from, like, will people create a narrative saying that Freed did this and carried the Yankees to X, Y, and Z when they didn't have Garrett Cole?
00:45That would be the only reason you'd invest in something like that, that you would want to see a narrative built that they brought a team somewhere.
00:51I'm personally, I think, Loken Gilbert or Reagan's, I think those would be the betting options at this point,
00:56and specifically Reagan's, just because we're getting a number close.
00:59Close to 10-1.
01:00I think he's in a good spot.
01:01He is the ace of the rotation.
01:02He can lead the league in strikeouts.
01:03It wasn't the best start for him last night versus the Tigers.
01:06But he can be up there with Scoobo when it comes to lead the league in strikeouts.
01:10And I think that's one of the best things you could possibly have.
01:13I think Prochet will be there.
01:15I just don't like the number.
01:16Yeah.
01:17No, it's a heavy favorite at this point.
01:18You're probably better going somewhere else.
01:20Same could be said in the National League, where Paul Skeens is still the favorite to win the Cy Young,
01:26but he's dropped back a little bit in the National League Cy Young market.
01:30In fact, you know, probably escaped me earlier in the show how good Hunter Green has been pitching for some reason.
01:35Yamamoto was the favorite.
01:36I guess he's the favorite in my mind, but I think I made that pretty clear.
01:39I mean, that's the guy that I would bet right now, Tom.
01:42I would bet Yamamoto to win the Cy Young.
01:45The number is still good to me at 5-1.
01:48Green could be fantastic.
01:50I don't think he's going to be as good as we've seen.
01:53You know, Skeens is fantastic, too, and he's a popular player.
01:55He'll get that popular vote.
01:57But of all the guys listed there, I mean, I think this is a great number with Yamamoto at 5-1.
02:03Absolutely agree.
02:04Like, I think Green will regress at a certain point.
02:07He's been off to a phenomenal start, no doubt about it.
02:08I think he will regress.
02:10Skeens can absolutely win the award.
02:11It's just about that number, right?
02:122-30, we don't like that.
02:15Yamamoto's really that starting point of, like, he has the skill to get it done.
02:18He will have the numbers to back it up.
02:19And we're actually getting a good betting number on him.
02:21So that's where I would start.
02:23We can make the case for a Zach Wheeler.
02:25I think I could personally make the case for a Logan Webb.
02:28I don't think his strikeouts will be there compared to some of those other pitchers.
02:32But he's that player that I think if you're willing to take a longer shot, Webb might be the guy.
02:37And I know people are going to say, oh, Strider at 30-1.
02:40We've never seen Strider at 30-1.
02:43But it would take a lot for him to get back to, A, his form, and then kind of close the gap compared to where those other –
02:50like, I just don't think he'll catch Yamamoto in terms of counting stats.
02:54Yeah.
02:54The stats, by the way, I should mention, too, I see another name on here who's jumped into the Cy Young picture, Michael King.
03:00I mean, this guy's stats are as good as anybody in baseball.
03:04It feels like he's still flying under the radar here.
03:05It's going to be hard for him to jump so many players, I think, before the end of the season.
03:10But going into the year, I think he was like 50 or 100-1.
03:15He has a – whatever they did with Blake Snell last year, he puts together a second half of the season,
03:20and that will have him rocket up the charts, and then will end up in the top three before it's all said and done
03:25because he has the skill to compete with those top players.
03:28He definitely does.
03:30He definitely does.
03:30And I think it's going to be an evolving market as we go.
