00:00from the NL to the American League in the playoff picture on
00:07that side of the equation in Major League Baseball. Really
00:11the stories have been down the home stretch. The race for the
00:15American League East. The Yankees have now established a
00:19pretty substantial cushion in that division but thus the race
00:22for the AL East has also been the race for the top spot in
00:26the number one overall seed in the American League alongside
00:29the Cleveland Guardians. So, the Yanks 87 and 63. Now, a
00:33three-game lead over Baltimore in the division. The Guardians
00:38yesterday coming from behind to take the opening game of their
00:41midweek set against divisional foe, the Minnesota Twins. We'll
00:44talk about Minnesota on a slide here as of late. The Guardians
00:4887 and 64. Joe, just a half game behind New York. It will be a
00:55pretty contested race over these final two weeks for what
00:58would be home field advantage the entirety of the way to the
01:01pennant in the AL. Yeah, and ironically enough and the the
01:06one team that we don't have to worry about getting that number
01:09one seed is Houston. Uh I I don't think any of us believe
01:13that that's even a possibility. The fact that there's still
01:16just four games up on Seattle is kind of laughable as well but
01:20you know, you and I have talked about that division being the
01:23Astros are winning it despite of themselves there but the
01:26Yankees and Guardians, I think it's going to come right down
01:29to the last couple of games, Ben. It would not shock me if
01:32the last game or two here in the regular season will
01:34determine who gets that number one seed. So, the Guardians now
01:38a five-game lead in the American League Central. Again,
01:41there are two division prices still available to bet on the
01:45fan rule sports book. The Yanks minus 750 with the three-game
01:48advantage to win the American League East with the five-game
01:51lead in the AL Central. Cleveland is minus 6000. Again,
01:55the Guardians rallying yesterday against Minnesota to
01:57win the opener of that set four to three. The Tigers knocking
02:02off Kansas City in Kaufman seven to six. In terms of that
02:06American League West, the Astros still a four-game lead
02:10despite Seattle winning three consecutive games. The Astros
02:15did drop their opener yesterday out in San Diego against the
02:19Padres but the odds maker is not putting that one up on the
02:22board. We know Joe for a very long time that whoever does
02:25come up just slightly short in the American League East would
02:28be that top wildcard team in the American League and despite
02:31the O's trailing the Yankees by three games, they're five
02:35games up over the Twins for that top spot. They're still
02:38two and a half in front of KC who has the second best spot.
02:42KC at this moment, again, losing yesterday to Detroit.
02:45Still a two and a half game cushion over Minnesota. The
02:48Twins, just a game and a half lead. Now, with 12 games
02:53remaining in this regular season, over the Tigers do not
02:58sleep on Detroit. The Tigers a seven six victory yesterday in
03:03Kansas City. The Tigers have been one of the best teams in
03:05baseball since the end of August. In those final few
03:08weeks of August, does Detroit have life to make an American
03:13League playoff run? And they've been since July one of
03:19the best pitching staffs in all of Major League Baseball,
03:22which is really what catapulted them to even make a run at
03:26this. So, I mean, when you look at it, no, everyone was
03:30laughing at Detroit a month ago. If we would have told you
03:33we were in this spot, Ben, people would have thought we
03:35were crazy but no, no, we're not crazy and a lot of this has
03:39to do with the fact that the Twins to your point have fallen
03:42off a cliff. But, you know, the Twins have been, you know,
03:47heckle and jive, heckle and hide all year long, Ben. Which
03:51version are you going to get? We've seen the one that
03:54strikes out a ton and the bullpen melts. We've seen the
03:57one that will score 15 runs on you and you don't have a
04:01prayer. That's the problem with Minnesota. They have not been
04:05consistent. Detroit has and Detroit in all likelihood could
04:09very well catch them in these final twelve games. It would
04:12not shock me.
