00:00Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloney visited Washington to meet with U.S. President Donald

00:07Trump. The meeting was described by both leaders as constructive and positive,

00:12with many points of agreement and common understanding. Maloney discussed an array

00:17of pressing topics with the 47th U.S. President, among them tariffs, defense, and the ongoing war

00:23in Ukraine. But the Italian Premier says the primary purpose of her trip is to push for

00:28continued Western unity. Trump was full of praise for Maloney calling her a great person

00:57and even noting that if she continues in her capacity, Rome and Washington will be the best

01:02of allies. Maloney says she discussed trade with the U.S. President after he imposed global tariffs

01:08on more than 160 countries recently as part of his America First agenda. The tariffs have since

01:15been paused for 90 days after several countries and blocs, including the EU, retaliated, causing

01:21global markets to real. But Trump says he's confident Washington will strike deals to mitigate the

01:26crisis, among them with Italy.

01:28A lot of it's having to do with... Oh, there'll be a trade deal, 100%.

01:31Oh, well, you think there won't be a... Of course there'll be a trade deal. Very much,

01:36they want to make one very, very much, and we're going to make a trade deal. I fully expect it,

01:41but it'll be a fair deal. Are they on your priority list?

01:46Everybody's on my priority list. Europe has gone through a lot of problems, and a lot of it's having

01:50to do with immigration. The pair also discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine and agreed on the need

01:56to bring an end to the fighting. Speaking on migration, Trump praised Maloney for her government

02:01stance, adding that the EU must, quote, get smart and manage the crisis more effectively.

02:06I'm taking a very tough stand on immigration.
