00:00:00Thank you very much.
00:00:09So, it's an honor to be with you, and we'll
00:00:13discuss a couple of points.
00:00:14We'll take some questions later, if you'd like.
00:00:16I'm sure you might have one or two.
00:00:19I'd be shocked if you didn't.
00:00:20I'd be very impressed.
00:00:22But I'm honored to welcome one of the most
00:00:25accomplished business leaders of our time, the
00:00:27founder and CEO of SoftBank.
00:00:29Everybody knows.
00:00:30Masa Yoshisan.
00:00:33Masa runs one of the largest companies in Japan
00:00:35and among the most successful investment and
00:00:39technology companies anywhere in the world.
00:00:41One of the most successful investors in the world.
00:00:44And we've just concluded a very productive meeting.
00:00:47And today, I'm thrilled to announce that SoftBank
00:00:51will be investing $100 billion in America,
00:00:55creating 100,000 American jobs at a minimum.
00:01:00And he's doing this because he feels very
00:01:02optimistic about our country since the election.
00:01:06And many other people are also coming in with
00:01:08tremendous amounts of money.
00:01:10You probably noticed that the poll was just taken.
00:01:14It's businesses.
00:01:17Literally, in 39 years, there's been nothing like it.
00:01:20It's been the biggest increase.
00:01:21Small business owners gave it a 41 percent jump.
00:01:26It's the biggest jump that we've had in 39 years.
00:01:30Nobody's ever seen anything like it.
00:01:32And it's just a very they're very optimistic.
00:01:35This historic investment is a monumental
00:01:38demonstration of confidence in America's
00:01:40future, and it will help ensure that artificial
00:01:44intelligence, emerging technologies, and other
00:01:46industries of tomorrow are built, created, and grown
00:01:50right here in the USA.
00:01:51One of the beautiful things about Masa is he's very
00:01:54much involved with emerging technology.
00:01:57Probably knows it maybe better than almost anybody.
00:02:00So, it's a great honor.
00:02:01And some of you remember, after the 2016 election,
00:02:05also, SoftBank committed to invest $50 billion in
00:02:09our country, and they did.
00:02:11And a very place to say that they kept that
00:02:13promise in every way, shape, and form.
00:02:16And now, they're looking to do 100.
00:02:19And I've looked at their books.
00:02:21They do have the possibility of doing more.
00:02:22I'm going to ask him to do a little bit more, but
00:02:25first, I'm going to ask him to speak.
00:02:27And just to say a few words.
00:02:29Masa, please.
00:02:31Please.
00:02:31Thank you very much.
00:02:32Appreciate it.
00:02:33Thank you so much.
00:02:38I'm very, very excited.
00:02:41I would really like to celebrate the great victory
00:02:45of President Trump.
00:02:47And my confidence level to the economy of the United
00:02:54States has tremendously increased with his victory.
00:02:59So, because of that, I'm now excited to commit this
00:03:06$100 billion and 100,000 jobs into the United States.
00:03:10This is double of last time, as President Trump said.
00:03:17Because I say, oh, President Trump is a
00:03:20double-down president.
00:03:22I'm going to have to double down, you know?
00:03:24$100 billion and 100,000 jobs.
00:03:27This is, you know, my confidence level because
00:03:31that has doubled down.
00:03:34So, I am truly excited to make this happen.
00:03:39And, of course, business is important.
00:03:42Technology is important.
00:03:44But one more thing I'm really hoping is that this
00:03:49President Trump would make the world, bring the world
00:03:57into peace again.
00:04:00That's my additional hope.
00:04:03And I think he will actually make it happen.
00:04:08So, anyway, I'm excited to go.
00:04:13And we were discussing, and President Trump said,
00:04:16Masa, you know, double-down is not enough.
00:04:19Maybe, you know, go for more.
00:04:22Right?
00:04:22The President That's right.
00:04:23I'm going to ask him right now, would you make it
00:04:26$200 billion instead of $100 billion?
00:04:29He can actually, believe it or not, he can actually
00:04:31afford to do that.
00:04:33Would you do that?
00:04:35Well, my promise is 100, but, you know, he's now
00:04:40asking to do more.
00:04:42I think, you know, with your leadership, my
00:04:47partnership with you, with your support, I will try
00:04:51to make it happen.
00:04:51The President That's great.
00:04:53All right.
00:04:53Two hundred.
00:04:54He'll make it happen.
00:04:55Two hundred million investments.
00:04:58That's great.
00:04:58He is a great negotiator.
00:05:00He's a brilliant guy and an unbelievable job.
00:05:06And the people of Japan and all over the world are
00:05:09very proud of him.
00:05:10They have tremendous respect for him.
00:05:12So what he does, what he just did, and I would be
00:05:16surprised if it didn't go to two.
00:05:18And when you say you'll try, I know you'll do it.
00:05:21I will.
00:05:22I will really try.
00:05:24And I need your support, though.
00:05:25You'll have my support.
00:05:26All right.
00:05:27We'll have our country's support.
00:05:28Oh, fantastic.
00:05:29Thank you, Masa, very much.
00:05:30I appreciate it.
00:05:32Great.
00:05:33Do you want to say hello to the people of Japan who
00:05:34are all watching?
00:05:35Well, I'm sure our people in Japan are proud to make
00:05:42the partnership of U.S.
00:05:44and Japan be stronger.
00:05:47And I'm very excited to make this happen.
00:05:50Thank you very much.
00:05:51Thank you, Masa.
00:05:55That's a great job.
00:06:01It's amazing.
00:06:02It's a great gentleman, a great leader, and a
00:06:05great investor.
00:06:07So, to have that offer made.
00:06:09And we have so many companies coming in now
00:06:11that will be announcing, or that will announce
00:06:13themselves.
00:06:14We don't have to be with them to do it.
00:06:16But they'll be announcing.
00:06:17And, as I said, small business optimism took a
00:06:2141-point jump.
00:06:22Forty-one points.
00:06:23It went up 41 points.
00:06:25That's unheard of.
00:06:26And that's the biggest, they think, in recorded
00:06:29history, but they know at least a minimum of 39
00:06:31years.
00:06:32So that's great.
00:06:33On behalf of the American people, I want to thank
00:06:36Masa for his faith in what's happening with our
00:06:39country and what's happening with the world.
00:06:40There's a whole light over the entire world.
00:06:42Many people, some reporters in speaking to
00:06:44him, they said, you know, it actually is true.
00:06:46A couple of them are not necessarily friends of
00:06:49mine, but they said it is actually true that
00:06:53there's a light shining over the world.
00:06:54We're trying to help very strongly in getting the
00:06:57hostages back, as you know, with Israel and the
00:07:00Middle East.
00:07:01We're working very much on that.
00:07:03We're trying to get the war stopped.
00:07:05That horrible, horrible war that's going on in
00:07:08Ukraine, Russia, Ukraine.
00:07:11We're going to — we've got a little progress.
00:07:13It's a tough one.
00:07:14It's a nasty one.
00:07:16It's nasty.
00:07:17People are being killed at levels that nobody has
00:07:20ever seen.
00:07:21You know, it's very level fields.
00:07:22And the only thing that stops a bullet is a body,
00:07:26a human body.
00:07:27And the number of soldiers that are being killed on
00:07:30both sides is astronomical.
00:07:31I've never seen anything like it.
00:07:33And rapidly, I get reports every week, and it's not
00:07:36even — you know, it's like just going down.
00:07:40Nobody has seen anything like it.
00:07:42It's a very flat surface, a very flat land.
00:07:44That's why it's great farming land.
00:07:46It's the — it's the breadbasket for the world,
00:07:50actually.
00:07:51But it's very flat, and there's nothing to stop a
00:07:53bullet but a body.
00:07:54There's no protection, no nothing.
00:07:57And it's — what's happening there is far
00:08:00worse than people are reporting for both sides.
00:08:03So we're going to do our best, and we've been
00:08:05doing our best, and we'll see what happens.
00:08:07But since the election, I've been working every
00:08:10day to put the world at ease a little bit, to get
00:08:13rid of the wars.
00:08:14We had no wars when I left office, and now it's —
00:08:17the whole world is blowing up.
00:08:19But there's great optimism, and you saw that
00:08:22by SoftBank.
00:08:24Starting on day one, we'll implement a rapid series
00:08:27of bold reforms to restore our nation to full
00:08:30prosperity.
00:08:31We're going to go full prosperity and to build
00:08:34the greatest economy the world has ever seen, just
00:08:37as we had just a short time ago.
00:08:40We had it in my term.
00:08:41We had the greatest economy that the world had
00:08:44seen.
00:08:45We were blowing away everybody.
00:08:46Our country was doubling up on China, doubling up
00:08:50on everybody, and everybody knows it.
00:08:53And then we had to slow it down with COVID,
00:08:54unfortunately, at the end.
00:08:56But even then, I gave it back with a substantial
00:08:59increase of the stock market — bigger than it
00:09:02was pre-COVID, so it was pretty amazing.
00:09:05Already, preparations are underway to slash massive
00:09:08numbers of job-killing regulations, eliminating
00:09:1210 old regulations for every new one.
00:09:14You put a new regulation on, you have to get rid
00:09:16of 10, and we'll be able to do it.
00:09:18And that was about the percentage we had.
00:09:20We cut more regulations than any President has
00:09:24ever cut, by far, actually, by approximately
00:09:28five times.
00:09:29Some of those regulations, unfortunately, were put
00:09:32back on, but we'll catch up very quickly.
00:09:35We'll catch up with it.
00:09:37One of the things I'd like to ask the Biden
00:09:39administration — as you probably heard, there are
00:09:43two events that took place.
00:09:44We're talking about a friendly takeover, a
00:09:48friendly transition, as they like to say.
00:09:51This is a friendly transition, and it is.
00:09:53But there are two events that took place that I
00:09:56think are very terrible.
00:09:57One is that if people don't come back to work,
00:09:59come back into the office, they're going to be
00:10:01dismissed.
00:10:01And somebody in the Biden administration gave a
00:10:04five-year waiver of that so that, for five years,
00:10:08people don't have to come back into the office.
00:10:10It involved 49,000 people.
00:10:13For five years, they don't have to go.
00:10:14They just signed this thing.
00:10:16It's ridiculous.
00:10:18So it was like a gift to a union.
00:10:21And we're going to, obviously, be in court to
00:10:23stop it.
00:10:23The other thing is — really terrible — we
00:10:27spent a tremendous amount of money on building the wall.
00:10:29The wall was designed specifically by the
00:10:32Border Patrol because it's very hard to climb.
00:10:35They need to have see-through.
00:10:37They need it to be steel because you can't cut —
00:10:39it's very powerful steel.
00:10:40It's very hard steel.
00:10:42It's a special type of steel, but very, very hard
00:10:45to cut.
00:10:46Inside the steel, as you know, we pour concrete.
00:10:49And that's a grade 10 concrete, which is a very
00:10:52strong concrete.
00:10:53Very — as though you were building about a
00:10:5660-story building.
00:10:57It's very powerful concrete.
00:10:59They've made tremendous technology advances in the
00:11:04word concrete.
00:11:04Who would think that?
00:11:05But I know that from the construction industry.
00:11:08Today, what you can do with concrete is incredible.
00:11:10So we have a very strong concrete.
00:11:12And then we have a rebar.
00:11:14We put rebar inside the concrete, and the rebar
00:11:18likewise is very hard to cut.
00:11:19So it's a very expensive process, very expensive
00:11:22wall.
00:11:23And then we put a anti-climb plate on the top.
00:11:26You saw that.
00:11:27And I didn't like the look of it, but then when I
00:11:29watched, we had people testing.
00:11:31We had mountain climbers actually testing, and they
00:11:34were not able to get over the anti-climb plate.
00:11:36So I said, all right, I guess we're going to put
00:11:37it on.
00:11:39That plate on top, which I — I never loved the look
00:11:42of it, but it works so unbelievably well.
00:11:45You have to do it.
00:11:47So we spent a lot of money on building it, and we
00:11:49have hundreds of miles that we put up.
00:11:51A lot of people don't realize, but we did 571
00:11:54miles of wall.
00:11:55That's why we had such good records, in addition
00:11:57to the fact that Mexico helped us with their —
00:12:00with their military.
00:12:01They kept people out, and they were actually very
00:12:04good under the past leader.
00:12:06But now we had — we ordered an additional 200
00:12:10miles of wall.
00:12:12It's very expensive.
00:12:13And now it's about double the price of what it would
00:12:16have been six years ago.
00:12:18And the administration is trying to sell it for five
00:12:22cents on the dollar, knowing that we're getting
00:12:24ready to put it up.
00:12:26And what they're doing is really an act — it's
00:12:29almost — it's almost a criminal act.
00:12:31They know we're going to use it.
00:12:33And if we don't have it, we're going to have to
00:12:35rebuild it.
00:12:37And it'll cost double what it cost years ago, and
00:12:40that's hundreds of millions of dollars because
00:12:42you're talking about a lot of — a lot of wall.
00:12:46I built much more than I said I was going to build.
00:12:48But then, after it was built, I said, you know,
00:12:51we can do some more because it's sort of like water
00:12:54people flow through.
00:12:56And that will pretty much really take care of it.
00:12:58And what happened is they just — as you see, they're
00:13:01trying to sell it for five cents on the dollar.
00:13:04And that's really — that has nothing to do with a
00:13:07smooth transition.
00:13:10And that has to do with people really trying to
00:13:13stop our nation.
00:13:14And all it means, really, is that we're going to
00:13:17spend hundreds of millions of dollars more — not
00:13:21even talking about the time.
00:13:23Time would be pretty long.
00:13:25But we'll spend hundreds of millions of dollars more
00:13:29on building the same wall that we already have.
00:13:32And people have already come back to us that have
00:13:36deals at five cents and four cents, and one guy
00:13:38had three cents on the dollar.
00:13:41And they offered to sell it back to us at more
00:13:44money than it costs us to build substantially.
00:13:47Can you believe it?
00:13:49So they make a deal with the United States to buy
00:13:51it for pennies.
00:13:52And then they call us and they say, do you want to
00:13:54buy it back?
00:13:56We'll sell it back to you for hundreds of dollars a
00:13:59foot.
00:14:00Hundreds of dollars.
00:14:01From pennies to hundreds of dollars a foot.
00:14:05And we can't let this take place.
00:14:07Now, we're going to go — I spoke with the Attorney
00:14:08General of Texas.
00:14:09I spoke to the senators of Texas.
00:14:12I spoke to a lot of people.
00:14:13And hopefully they'll be able to stop.
00:14:15We're going to be, you know, having a restraining
00:14:17order.
00:14:18But just think about how ridiculous it is.
00:14:20And this is just people that don't want this
00:14:22country to succeed.
00:14:24And this has nothing to do with Democrat or
00:14:25Republican.
00:14:27This has to do with common sense.
00:14:30We won on common sense, and this is maybe one of
00:14:33the most egregious examples I've seen.
00:14:35So the people that are buying it or trying to buy
00:14:38it are trying to make a deal with us to sell it
00:14:40back at hundreds of times more — hundreds of times
00:14:44more than we paid.
00:14:46And this is all because the Democrats.
00:14:50So I'm asking today Joe Biden to please stop
00:14:54selling the oil.
00:14:54We're going to use that to create a strong barrier.
00:14:59And it worked.
00:15:00That's why our numbers were so good.
00:15:02It really worked, and it worked well.
00:15:05And it's very expensive to do.
00:15:07And I'm asking Joe Biden to stop his people from
00:15:10giving it away.
00:15:11It's something that people can't even believe is
00:15:16happening.
00:15:16So hopefully Joe will be able to stop it.
00:15:20We'll soon unleash American energy, and this
00:15:23will be done at levels not seen before — issuing
00:15:25quick approvals for pipelines, drilling, and
00:15:28other infrastructure.
00:15:29It'll be clean energy, and we'll bring in the price
00:15:33of electricity, and we're going to bring it down
00:15:34fast.
00:15:35We're also going to create clean coal.
00:15:37Clean coal is something that has really taken over.
00:15:42We have coal that will last for over a thousand
00:15:45years.
00:15:46We have so much coal.
00:15:47And with the process, it becomes clean coal.
00:15:50It's very powerful energy.
00:15:51Unlike wind, it's very, very powerful.
00:15:54And we're going to be doing a lot of clean coal for
00:15:57the people of West Virginia and others —
00:16:00Wyoming, so many states.
00:16:01We have great states.
00:16:03And they'll be happy to hear it.
00:16:05But we're going to be very much into clean coal.
00:16:08I don't ever use the word coal.
00:16:10I use the word clean coal.
00:16:12And I'll keep my promise to pass historic tax cuts
00:16:15for American families, workers, and businesses
00:16:17that create jobs in America.
00:16:20As you know, we're giving tax cuts if they do it here.
00:16:23We brought it down from 44 percent, 42 percent.
00:16:28In some cases, it was 39.
00:16:30We brought it all the way down to 21 percent.
00:16:33And now we're bringing it down to 15, but only if
00:16:36they make their product, their car, or whatever
00:16:38they're doing in the United States, in the U.S.
00:16:41And people are thrilled.
00:16:42I have — I've had the smartest people on Wall
00:16:44Street call me.
00:16:44They said, Where did you get that idea?
00:16:46And it doesn't seem that complicated, right?
00:16:48But it's — nobody ever — it's like the paperclip.
00:16:51Nobody ever thought of it.
00:16:52One guy thought of it.
00:16:54Everybody looked at it.
00:16:54They said, Wow, that was a good idea.
00:16:57Why didn't I think of it?
00:16:59But we're bringing it down six more points, and
00:17:01that will put us, really, at the best level we've
00:17:07ever had for bringing in business.
00:17:09We've never been down to that level.
00:17:11We'll be among the lowest-taxed states, and a
00:17:15lot of businesses are going to come in.
00:17:16Between that and our taxing and tariff
00:17:19policies, we're going to have business like
00:17:20nobody's ever seen in this country before.
00:17:23That's why we're, you know, having a 41-year
00:17:25record in optimism from small businesses and big
00:17:28businesses.
00:17:30And I'll keep my promise to pass historic tax cuts
00:17:33for families, workers, and businesses that create
00:17:35jobs in America.
00:17:37Any business that invests $1 billion or more in the
00:17:40United States will be eligible for fully
00:17:43expedited permits and approvals, including
00:17:45environmental approvals, from the federal government.
00:17:48So, when companies come in, if they're going to
00:17:51invest $1 billion or more — and there will be many
00:17:53of them — and they'll go into Detroit, and they'll
00:17:55go into a lot of places where we want them.
00:17:58You saw how well I did with the autoworkers.
00:18:00We did unbelievably.
00:18:01You saw how well we did with the Teamsters.
00:18:03And also, the non-union.
00:18:06We're a record 98 percent, 97 percent.
00:18:10Nobody has ever gotten numbers like that because
00:18:12we're bringing business back.
00:18:13And they're all coming back.
00:18:15We lost them over years of stupidity, I call it.
00:18:19I call it the years of stupidity, the decades of
00:18:21stupidity, through the Department of Government
00:18:24Efficiency.
00:18:25Elon Musk has been working very hard with various
00:18:28people, including Vivek.
00:18:31We're going to eliminate hundreds of billions of
00:18:34dollars of waste and fraud.
00:18:36And I can only tell you — I'll give you a little
00:18:37early report — they're finding things that you
00:18:39wouldn't even believe.
00:18:41So we're looking to save maybe $2 trillion.
00:18:43And it'll have no impact.
00:18:46Actually, it'll make life better, but it'll have no
00:18:48impact on people.
00:18:49It's not like we're — we will never cut Social
00:18:51Security, things like that.
00:18:53It's just waste, fraud, and abuse.
00:18:56And we'll immediately restore the sovereign
00:18:59borders of the United States and stop illegal
00:19:01immigration, which is costing us, I believe,
00:19:04trillions of dollars a year.
00:19:05I think it's a cost that nobody has ever seen
00:19:08anything like it.
00:19:09I don't know.
00:19:10How can you be satisfied releasing prisoners into
00:19:15the United — think of this, you're releasing
00:19:18prisoners from jails all over the world, not just
00:19:20in South America.
00:19:21From the Congo, I would talk about it all the time.
00:19:24They're a very big sender of people.
00:19:26But from all over the world, they're sending
00:19:29prisoners out of their jails.
00:19:31Some of their jails are empty, and they will be
00:19:33empty soon if this ever continued.
00:19:36I spoke with the President of Mexico, and as you
00:19:38know, I spoke with Justin Trudeau of Canada.
00:19:42And we told them, it's not fair, not right, you
00:19:46can't let these people come into our country.
00:19:48And they understand they're very much on
00:19:50notice, and they're going to have to stop this
00:19:53from happening.
00:19:55They're going to have to stop it.
00:19:56We lose a lot of money to Mexico.
00:19:58We lose a lot of money to Canada.
00:20:00Tremendous amount.
00:20:00We're subsidizing Canada.
00:20:02We're subsidizing Mexico.
00:20:03That can't go on.
00:20:05And I get along with the people of Mexico and
00:20:07Canada very well, but we can't let that happen.
00:20:09Why are we — why are we supporting and giving
00:20:14other countries hundreds of billions of dollars?
00:20:18It's not fair.
00:20:19It's not right.
00:20:19And the people of Mexico and Canada fully
00:20:22understand that.
00:20:23We've talked about it before, but now we're
00:20:25doing something about it.
00:20:26We started, and then we had to fix the COVID
00:20:29situation, and that's what we did.
00:20:32But now we're doing it.
00:20:33We're doing it from the beginning.
00:20:34Howard will be largely in charge.
00:20:36We'll be working on it together.
00:20:38Howard's terrific.
00:20:38He's done a fantastic job, and he's really helped
00:20:41us a lot with transition.
00:20:42I think we have fantastic people coming in.
00:20:45So all of these policies will help us rapidly
00:20:48defeat inflation, create millions of new jobs, and
00:20:52put money in the pockets of the hardworking
00:20:55families of our country, pay off debt.
00:20:57We're going to be paying off a tremendous amount
00:20:59of debt.
00:21:00We're at $36 trillion.
00:21:01You don't want to be there.
00:21:04And we're going to be using a lot of the money
00:21:07that we make.
00:21:08We're going to be opening up a lot of businesses
00:21:10that are going to be pouring in because of our
00:21:11tax policy.
00:21:13And we're going to use the money that we made to pay
00:21:15off debt and to reduce taxes.
00:21:18We're going to further reduce taxes.
00:21:19If you remember when we reduced them last time,
00:21:22that brought a tremendous amount.
00:21:24We brought it down to 21 percent, and that was a
00:21:27biggest tax cut in the history of our country.
00:21:30And nobody ever thought this would happen, but
00:21:33this is what's supposed to happen.
00:21:34We actually ended up taking in more revenue at
00:21:3721 than we did at 40 percent, which was pretty
00:21:40amazing.
00:21:41But this will be the most exciting and successful
00:21:43period of reform and renewal in all of
00:21:46American history, maybe of global history.
00:21:49The Golden Age of America, I call it.
00:21:52It's begun.
00:21:53So it's the Golden Age of America, and that's what
00:21:55it's going to be.
00:21:56And we hope we don't have any intervening problems
00:21:59because things happen.
00:22:01Like, out of nowhere came the China virus.
00:22:04Out of nowhere came other things.
00:22:06We don't want to have.
00:22:08You know, when I left, we had no wars.
00:22:09We had no problems.
00:22:10The Middle East was good.
00:22:11We did the Abraham Accords.
00:22:14We did things that nobody thought were even possible.
00:22:17But think of it.
00:22:18Four years ago, we had no wars.
00:22:21You didn't have Russia going into Ukraine.
00:22:23They wouldn't have done it.
00:22:24They weren't even thinking about it.
00:22:27When they saw what happened in Afghanistan, I think
00:22:29they gave them an idea.
00:22:30But they wouldn't have done it.
00:22:31They would have never gone.
00:22:32President Putin would have never gone in.
00:22:34And now you look at all those people are dead.
00:22:36All those cities are destroyed.
00:22:38You know, it's nice to say they want their land
00:22:41back, but the cities are largely destroyed.
00:22:45They've left Kiev because probably maybe they want
00:22:49to use it or occupy it, but they haven't done it.
00:22:51They've done a lot of damage, but relatively
00:22:55compared to the other cities, very little.
00:22:58But many of those cities are gone.
00:22:59Those beautiful towers, those beautiful buildings
00:23:03that they had are now laying on their sides,
00:23:08destroyed, totally destroyed.
00:23:11The turrets and all of the magnificent thousand-year
00:23:14old, 2,000-year old structures that were very
00:23:17strong are blown to smithereens.
00:23:21You look at some of those cities and not one
00:23:23building standing.
00:23:24So, you know, when you say take over the country,
00:23:28take over what?
00:23:30Take over what?
00:23:31That's a hundred-year rebuild.
00:23:32Take a hundred years to rebuild it and you can
00:23:34never have it the way it was.
00:23:36What a shame.
00:23:36It should have never happened.
00:23:37It would have never happened.
00:23:38If I were President, that war would have never
00:23:40happened, nor would Israel have happened with the
00:23:43attack on Israel.
00:23:45So we're inheriting big challenges at home and all
00:23:49over the world.
00:23:50Again, we had no wars.
00:23:52We had no problems.
00:23:54We had no inflation.
00:23:55We had no inflation.
00:23:56We had it less than 1 percent.
00:23:59Perfect number.
00:24:00And then we had inflation, the likes of which I say
00:24:04I don't believe the country has ever seen
00:24:05inflation like that.
00:24:06They say 38 years.
00:24:08I don't know.
00:24:08I think it's probably ever.
00:24:10But we're going to take care of all of it.
00:24:12We're going to get the prices down by energy.
00:24:15The energy is going to come in.
00:24:16We have more energy than anybody else.
00:24:18We're going to use it.
00:24:19We don't have to buy energy from Venezuela when
00:24:21we have 50 times more than they do.
00:24:24It's just insane what we're doing.
00:24:26So we will not rest until America is richer, safer,
00:24:30and stronger than it has ever been before.
00:24:33And we have a big head start.
00:24:35Last time we didn't.
00:24:36And last time we didn't know the people, we didn't
00:24:39know a lot of things.
00:24:40But by the time we got it up and going, it was
00:24:42incredible.
00:24:43Again, we built the greatest economy in
00:24:45history for that period of time.
00:24:47And we'll do it again, I believe, substantially
00:24:49more so, because we understand, number one,
00:24:53the people of Washington.
00:24:55I know them.
00:24:56I didn't know any of them, virtually.
00:24:57I relied on other people for recommendations.
00:24:59Some were very good recommendations.
00:25:01We had some great people.
00:25:03Bob Lighthizer, I thought, was great.
00:25:04We had a lot of great people.
00:25:06And but we had some people that I wouldn't have used
00:25:09in retrospect.
00:25:10And now I know, I know, I know them better than
00:25:13anybody, better than they know themselves.
00:25:15So once again, I'd like to thank Masa for what he's
00:25:18done with that investment, which will end up being
00:25:21$200 billion, I believe.
00:25:24But I just want to thank him.
00:25:26He's just an outstanding man.
00:25:27When you have that kind of brainpower wanting to
00:25:29invest in this country, and that's money that he
00:25:33can't invest elsewhere.
00:25:34So that's a big investment, but makes me
00:25:36feel very good.
00:25:37Makes me feel that we're absolutely on the right
00:25:39track.
00:25:39So, thank you to Masa.
00:25:40And we'll take a couple of questions.
00:25:42Yeah, please.
00:25:42Jeff.
00:25:43The Press Can you tell us what you said to the
00:25:47Prime Minister Netanyahu in a call on Saturday?
00:25:50And have you spoken to President Putin since
00:25:52your election?
00:25:53The President Well, I'm not going to comment on
00:25:54the Putin question, but I will comment on on Bibi.
00:25:59We had a very good talk.
00:26:01We discussed what is going to happen.
00:26:04And I'll be very available on January 20th, and
00:26:10we'll see.
00:26:12As you know, I gave warning that if these
00:26:14hostages aren't back home by that date, all hell is
00:26:17going to break out.
00:26:18And very strong.
00:26:20But we generally just discussed.
00:26:22I asked him, where are things?
00:26:26Mike Waltz is there doing a great job, by the way.
00:26:28Everybody is very happy.
00:26:30I think he's doing a fantastic job.
00:26:32But he's he was very much involved in the call.
00:26:34But it was a recap call more than anything else.
00:26:36The Press How do you plan to stop the ban on TikTok
00:26:40next month?
00:26:41The President Who?
00:26:42The Press How do you plan to stop the ban on TikTok
00:26:43next month?
00:26:44The President We'll take a look at TikTok.
00:26:47You know, I have a warm spot in my heart for
00:26:48TikTok because I won youth by 34 points.
00:26:53And there are those that say that TikTok has
00:26:56something to do with that.
00:26:57Now, Joe Rogan did and some of the other people
00:27:01that were recommended by my son, Barron.
00:27:04Whoever he knew names, I said, Who is that?
00:27:06Tell me who's that?
00:27:07Dad, you got to be kidding.
00:27:09I can't believe you don't know.
00:27:11And I did those interviews and it was actually sort
00:27:13of cute.
00:27:14Do you want to know the truth?
00:27:15But we did them and that had an impact.
00:27:17But TikTok had an impact.
00:27:19And so we're taking a look at it.
00:27:21But, you know, we won youth.
00:27:23Republicans are always 30 points down in youth.
00:27:25I don't know why, but we ended up finishing.
00:27:28We were there was one poll that showed us down about
00:27:3130.
00:27:32We were thirty five or thirty six points up with
00:27:34young people.
00:27:36So I have a little bit of a warm spot in my heart.
00:27:38I'll be honest.
00:27:39Yes, President.
00:27:39Are you are you entertaining the idea of
00:27:42preemptive strikes against Iran's nuclear
00:27:44facilities?
00:27:45Against Iran's nuclear?
00:27:48Well, I can't tell you that.
00:27:49Would you?
00:27:50I mean, it's a wonderful question.
00:27:51But how can I?
00:27:52Am I going to do preemptive strikes?
00:27:54Why would I say that?
00:27:56Can you imagine if I said yes or no, you'd say
00:28:00that was strange.
00:28:01And he answered that way.
00:28:02Am I going to do preemptive strikes on
00:28:04Iran?
00:28:06Is that a serious question?
00:28:07How could I answer a question like that?
00:28:09Would you say it in support of Israeli strikes on
00:28:16Iran?
00:28:17How could I tell you a thing like that now?
00:28:19It's just so you don't talk about that before
00:28:22something may or may not happen.
00:28:24You know, just I don't want to insult you.
00:28:27I just think it's just not something that I would
00:28:29ever answer having to do with there or any other
00:28:32place.
00:28:32Well, I don't look right now.
00:28:46You have some very brilliant people looking
00:28:48at it.
00:28:49I had dinner the other night with the head of
00:28:50Pfizer, the head of Eli Lilly and RFK, as you
00:28:55know, and Oz.
00:28:57And we had and other people within the
00:28:59administration that are involved in the medical.
00:29:03And we're looking to find out, you know, if you
00:29:05look at autism.
00:29:07So 30 years ago, we had I've heard numbers of like
00:29:10one in 200,000, one in 100,000.
00:29:14And now I'm hearing numbers of one in 100.
00:29:18So something's wrong.
00:29:19There's something wrong.
00:29:21And we're going to find out about it.
00:29:23What about?
00:29:23Can I follow up on Robert Kennedy?
00:29:32He's on the Hill today.
00:29:33He's meeting with senators.
00:29:34What do you say to people who are worried that his
00:29:36views on vaccines will translate into policies
00:29:38that will make their kids less safe?
00:29:40No, I think he's going to be much less radical than
00:29:42you would think.
00:29:43I think he's got a very open mind or I wouldn't
00:29:45have put him there.
00:29:45He's going to be very much less radical.
00:29:48But there are problems.
00:29:49I mean, we don't do as well as a lot of other
00:29:51nations, and those nations use nothing.
00:29:54And we're going to find out what those problems are.
00:29:57And another thing that came up, the dinner was
00:29:59fascinating because I had Bobby and I had, again,
00:30:03the head of Pfizer.
00:30:04You know who that is.
00:30:05He's a highly respected man who has run an
00:30:09incredible company.
00:30:10Likewise, with Lily, the top two people.
00:30:13And we had the head of the industry also.
00:30:16So all companies were represented.
00:30:18And I said, let's have it out now a little bit.
00:30:21And, you know, what came out of that meeting is
00:30:23that we're paying far too much because we're paying
00:30:25much more than other countries.
00:30:27And we have laws that make it impossible to reduce.
00:30:31And we have a thing called the middleman.
00:30:32You know the middleman, right?
00:30:34The horrible middleman that makes more money,
00:30:36frankly, than the drug companies, and they don't
00:30:38do anything except they're a middleman.
00:30:40We're going to knock out the middleman.
00:30:41I'm going to be very unpopular after that
00:30:43statement.
00:30:44I don't know who these I don't know who these
00:30:47middlemen are, but they are rich as hell.
00:30:50And we're going to knock out the middleman.
00:30:53We're going to get drug costs down at levels that
00:30:56nobody has ever seen before.
00:30:58And that really I tell you, we spent more time
00:31:00talking about that with Bobby and with the
00:31:03executives and Oz, all of them.
00:31:05We spent more time talking about that than
00:31:07anything else.
00:31:08The Press What about the polio vaccine?
00:31:13President Trump Well, I'm a big believer in it.
00:31:15And I think everything should be looked at.
00:31:18But I'm a big believer in the polio vaccine, the
00:31:20stock vaccine.
00:31:22The Press Do you think schools should mandate
00:31:23vaccines?
00:31:24Do you think schools should mandate vaccines?
00:31:27President Trump I don't like mandates.
00:31:28I'm not a big mandate person.
00:31:29So, you know, I was against mandates.
00:31:32Mostly Democrat governors did the mandates, and
00:31:35they they did a very poor thing.
00:31:37It was, you know, retrospect, they made a
00:31:38big mistake having to do with the education of
00:31:41children.
00:31:42You know, they lost like a year, two years of their
00:31:44lives.
00:31:44The mandate was a bad thing.
00:31:45I was against the mandate.
00:31:46The Press So is that something you'd want to
00:31:47do?
00:31:48President Trump Yes, please.
00:31:49The Press Do you expect Ron DeFantis to appoint
00:31:51Laura Trump to sign her Marco Rubio seat?
00:31:54President Trump No, I don't.
00:31:57I probably don't, but I don't know.
00:32:00Ron's doing a good job.
00:32:01That's his choice.
00:32:02Not nothing to do with me.
00:32:05Laura's unbelievable.
00:32:07She was incredible.
00:32:09The job she did at the RNC, as chairman, along
00:32:13with Michael Watley, the combination.
00:32:16But I could just speak for Laura's.
00:32:17It's she is so highly respected by women.
00:32:22I mean, even her workout routines are through the
00:32:25roof.
00:32:25She lifts a hundred and fifty pounds.
00:32:28I don't know how the hell she does it.
00:32:30She's a bad example for men and women because I
00:32:33wouldn't be able to beat her.
00:32:34I don't believe I'd try like hell.
00:32:37But no, she's an incredible woman.
00:32:39And, you know, it's funny.
00:32:42People oftentimes talk about nepotism.
00:32:45I never had.
00:32:46When I put her there, people said, How did you
00:32:49get her to do it?
00:32:50You know, she could have run for the Senate in
00:32:52North Carolina.
00:32:52Ted Budd would be the first to say, and he
00:32:55wouldn't have run.
00:32:56Nobody would have run.
00:32:58And she just said, No, I want to really focus on
00:33:01my children.
00:33:02When the election and my my family, she has a great
00:33:04family.
00:33:06When the election started getting closer, I asked
00:33:09her, Would she go to Washington and work on the
00:33:12you know, as chairman of the committee, along with
00:33:14Michael Watley?
00:33:15And they did such an unbelievable job,
00:33:19especially on cheating.
00:33:21They stopped it, or at least they stymied it too
00:33:25big to rig.
00:33:26And we wanted a landslide.
00:33:27You know, we won tremendously.
00:33:29She did an amazing job.
00:33:31Now, Ron is going to have to make his.
00:33:32Marco is has been really a star already, and we
00:33:37haven't started.
00:33:38But, you know, we see signs of from some people
00:33:41or very early.
00:33:42We see signs of stardom and Marco has done
00:33:46incredibly.
00:33:47He's sort of born for it.
00:33:51It was such an easy decision.
00:33:52The Marco decision was such an easy, but he
00:33:55leaves a vacancy in Florida and Ron's going to
00:33:58have to make that decision and he'll make the right
00:34:00decision.
00:34:01I also know that Laura's got so many other things.
00:34:04I mean, she's got so many other things.
00:34:06People want her to be on television.
00:34:07They want to give her contracts.
00:34:10You know, her predominant thought is our country
00:34:13and her family.
00:34:14Those are her thoughts.
00:34:17But she's got so many other things that she's
00:34:19talking about.
00:34:19He'll make he'll make the right decision.
00:34:22If they are unreasonable, I'll give you a different
00:34:32answer, an answer that you'll be shocked to
00:34:33hear.
00:34:36If they're unreasonable, if they're opposing
00:34:38somebody for political reasons or stupid reasons,
00:34:43I would say has nothing to do with me.
00:34:44I would say they probably would be primary.
00:34:47But if they're reasonable, fair and really disagree
00:34:51with something or somebody, I can see that
00:34:52happening.
00:34:53But I do believe that if they're unreal, I think
00:34:57we have great people.
00:34:58I think we have a great, a great group of people.
00:35:01Pam has been unbelievably received.
00:35:03You take a look.
00:35:04Pam Bondi.
00:35:06So many have been just unbelievably received.
00:35:10I think Pete Hegseth is making tremendous strides
00:35:14over the last week.
00:35:15He's going to be great.
00:35:16Look, he went to Princeton.
00:35:17He went to Harvard.
00:35:17He was a great student there.
00:35:18But he really was from the first day I met him, all
00:35:22he wanted to talk about was military.
00:35:23He's just a military guy.
00:35:25I think it's a natural.
00:35:26This was my idea.
00:35:29And, you know, Pete Hegseth gave up a lot
00:35:31because he was going big places in Fox, big, big
00:35:34places, a lot of money.
00:35:36And he didn't even hesitate.
00:35:38When I said, do you want to do this?
00:35:40He said, absolutely.
00:35:41I said, you know, if it doesn't work out, you'll
00:35:45never have the opportunity that you have
00:35:47right now in terms of the world of entertainment or
00:35:50business, whatever you want to call it.
00:35:52You'll never have that opportunity again.
00:35:54In fact, it could be just the opposite because it's
00:35:56nasty out there.
00:35:58He said, I don't care.
00:35:59I have to do it for my country.
00:36:00He gave up a tremendous amount.
00:36:02You know, if this didn't work, it would be it
00:36:04would be a tragedy because but that's what he loves.
00:36:08He loves the military.
00:36:09I never talked to him about anything else.
00:36:10He'd talk about the military.
00:36:11He'd come to see me about a soldier that was
00:36:14unfairly treated.
00:36:16And could I help?
00:36:18That's the only thing I virtually ever talked to
00:36:21him about.
00:36:21And I always remembered it.
00:36:23I've seen him many times, and I don't think I've
00:36:25ever had a subject on anything other than
00:36:27military with him.
00:36:28That's where his love is.
00:36:30And he didn't say, well, I'd like to think about
00:36:32it.
00:36:33I'd like to talk to my family.
00:36:34He said, not even a contest.
00:36:36And, you know, he was going through the roof
00:36:38over there.
00:36:39He was doing great.
00:36:39They have the number one show that Saturday and
00:36:42Sunday with Will and Rachel.
00:36:45That's that was great chemistry.
00:36:48And if this didn't work out for him, it would be
00:36:51actually sort of tragic.
00:36:53Yeah.
00:36:53Yeah, I would.
00:36:59I think that he was treated pretty unfairly.
00:37:02Now, I haven't seen the gravity of it all, but it
00:37:04seems, you know, like being upgraded in an
00:37:07airplane many years ago.
00:37:08I'd say I know probably everybody here has been
00:37:11upgraded.
00:37:12They see you're all stars and they say, I want to
00:37:14upgrade that person from NBC.
00:37:17I'm going to upgrade him.
00:37:19And that would mean you'll spend the rest of your
00:37:20life in prison.
00:37:21I don't know.
00:37:22Somehow, I would.
00:37:23I mean, I'd have to see it because I don't know the
00:37:25facts.
00:37:25I think he was treated.
00:37:26You know, it's very interesting when he
00:37:30essentially went against what was happening with
00:37:33the migrants coming in.
00:37:34And, you know, he made some pretty strong
00:37:36statements like this is not sustainable.
00:37:39I said, you know what?
00:37:40He'll be indicted soon.
00:37:42And I said it not as a prediction, a little bit
00:37:45lightheartedly.
00:37:46But I said it.
00:37:47I said he's going to be indicted.
00:37:49And a few months later, he got indicted.
00:37:51So, yeah, I would certainly look at it.
00:37:54Mr. President, can I ask you a question about the
00:37:56drones?
00:37:56The Presss Well, you know, we had 5,000 troops along
00:38:06the border, and I asked a couple of generals.
00:38:09So we have an army of 250,000 in Syria, and you
00:38:13had an army of 400,000.
00:38:14They have many more people than that.
00:38:16Turkey is a major force, by the way.
00:38:17And Erdogan is somebody I got along with.
00:38:20Great.
00:38:21But he has a major military force, and his
00:38:23has not been worn out with war.
00:38:27It hasn't been worn out with all of the other
00:38:29things.
00:38:29I mean, he's built a very strong, powerful army.
00:38:33And so we have 5,000 soldiers in between a 5
00:38:36million person army and a 250,000 person army.
00:38:40And I asked a general, what do you think of that
00:38:43situation?
00:38:43He said, they'll be just they'll be wiped out
00:38:47immediately.
00:38:48And I moved them out because and it took a lot
00:38:51of heat.
00:38:52And you know what happened?
00:38:53Nothing.
00:38:54Nothing.
00:38:55I saved a lot of lives.
00:38:57Now we have 900.
00:38:58They put some back.
00:39:00But 900, if you're talking about two.
00:39:03Now that one of the sides has been essentially
00:39:05wiped out.
00:39:05But nobody knows who the other side is.
00:39:08But I do.
00:39:09You know who it is?
00:39:10Turkey.
00:39:11Okay.
00:39:12Turkey is the one behind it.
00:39:13He's a very smart guy.
00:39:14They've wanted it for thousands of years, and he
00:39:17got it.
00:39:19And those people that went in are controlled by
00:39:24Turkey.
00:39:25And that's okay.
00:39:26It's another way to fight.
00:39:28But no, I don't think that I want to have our
00:39:30soldiers killed.
00:39:32But I don't think that will happen now anyway
00:39:34because the one side has been decimated.
00:39:37The Press.
00:39:37Well, nobody knows what the final outcome is going to
00:39:46be in the region.
00:39:47Nobody knows who really the final.
00:39:49I believe it's Turkey, and I think Turkey is very
00:39:53smart.
00:39:53He's a very smart guy, and he's very tough.
00:39:56But Turkey did an unfriendly takeover
00:40:00without a lot of lives being lost.
00:40:02I can say that Assad was a butcher.
00:40:04What he did to children.
00:40:06You remember, I attacked him with the 58 missiles.
00:40:11Unbelievable missiles coming from ships 700
00:40:16miles away.
00:40:17And every one of them hit their target.
00:40:19But I did that.
00:40:20That was the red line in the sand.
00:40:21Obama drew it, and then he refused to honor what he
00:40:24did.
00:40:25He said, if anybody goes across the red line, and
00:40:27Assad killed many more children after that.
00:40:30And Obama did nothing, but I did.
00:40:32I hit him with a lot of missiles.
00:40:33In fact, President Xi was sitting here the night he
00:40:37was in that dining room having chocolate cake.
00:40:39Remember the famous chocolate cake?
00:40:42But and that's when I explained what we were
00:40:44doing, as the missiles were shot.
00:40:47And it was amazing as to precision, because every
00:40:51one of those missiles hit its target from a long
00:40:55distance away.
00:40:57Had President Obama drawn the line where it meant
00:41:02something, you wouldn't have even had Russia there.
00:41:05But in the end, I never understood why Russia went
00:41:07there.
00:41:08They were not getting very much out of it.
00:41:10But now their time has taken up with Ukraine, and
00:41:13we'd like to get them to stop on Ukraine and
00:41:16Ukraine stop also.
00:41:18As you know, when I went to the cathedral, which
00:41:21was fantastic, the job that they've done in
00:41:23France and the job that Macron, you know,
00:41:28Emmanuel did, it did a phenomenal job on the
00:41:31rebuilding of that cathedral.
00:41:33It's magnificent.
00:41:34And they did a great thing.
00:41:35And they had great respect for our country.
00:41:36They treated me, meaning I'm the country.
00:41:39I'm the representative of our country.
00:41:41And we were treated with great respect.
00:41:44And one of the people that came to pay his respects
00:41:49is, as you know, Ukraine, Zelensky.
00:41:54And he would like to have peace.
00:41:56He wants peace.
00:41:58Everyone's being killed.
00:41:59It's the worst carnage that this world has seen
00:42:03since World War Two.
00:42:05I've had pictures of fields where bodies are
00:42:08lying on top of bodies.
00:42:10It looks like the old pictures of the Civil War
00:42:13where just bodies are all over.
00:42:15Just if you saw those pictures, you'd feel more
00:42:18strongly about it.
00:42:19It's got to stop.
00:42:21And we're trying and we're trying to get it to stop.
00:42:25Well, we're going to we're going to see what we're
00:42:27going to be talking.
00:42:28We'll be talking to President Putin and we'll
00:42:30be talking to the representatives, Zelensky
00:42:33and representatives from Ukraine.
00:42:35We got to stop it.
00:42:36It's it's carnage.
00:42:38What about the fear of the drones?
00:42:42Good to see you.
00:42:42Good to see you.
00:42:43Can you comment on the drones that are flying
00:42:46around New Jersey ports?
00:42:48It seems like the American people have a big
00:42:49discontent.
00:42:50The government knows what is happening.
00:42:53Look, our military knows where they took off from.
00:42:59If it's a garage, they can go right into that garage.
00:43:01They know where it came from and where it went.
00:43:05And for some reason, they don't want to comment.
00:43:08And I think they'd be better off saying what it
00:43:10is our military knows and our our president knows.
00:43:14And for some reason, they want to keep people in
00:43:15suspense.
00:43:17I can't imagine it's the enemy because it was the
00:43:19enemy that blasted out.
00:43:21Even if they were late, they'd blast it.
00:43:24Something strange is going on.
00:43:25For some reason, they don't want to tell the
00:43:27people.
00:43:28And they should because the people are really I
00:43:30mean, they happen to be over Bedminster.
00:43:32You know, they're very they're very close to
00:43:36Bedminster.
00:43:37I think maybe I won't spend the weekend in
00:43:38Bedminster.
00:43:39I've decided to cancel my trip.
00:43:42Have you received an intelligence briefing on
00:43:43the drones?
00:43:44I don't want to comment on that.
00:43:45Have you been?
00:43:46Do you have any reason to think there is a threat?
00:43:49Two quick questions.
00:43:50First, on vaccines, do you want RFK Jr.
00:43:53to revoke any vaccines?
00:43:56No, I want him to come back with a report as to
00:43:58what he thinks.
00:43:59We're going to find out a lot.
00:44:01We're doing two things.
00:44:02We're going to have tremendous cost savings
00:44:04will come out of this.
00:44:05That's a minimum.
00:44:06And we're also going to have, and I think very
00:44:08serious discussions about certain things, whether
00:44:11it's pesticides on, you know, Europe doesn't use
00:44:14pesticides, and yet they have a better mortality
00:44:18rate than we do.
00:44:19They don't use pesticides.
00:44:20In fact, they use it as an excuse not to take our
00:44:23farm product.
00:44:24We spend billions and billions of dollars on
00:44:27pesticides and something bad is happening.
00:44:31Again, you take a look at autism today versus 20,
00:44:3525 years ago.
00:44:36It's like not even believable.
00:44:38So we're going to have reports.
00:44:39No, nothing's going to happen very quickly.
00:44:41I think you're going to find that Bobby is much.
00:44:44He's a very rational guy.
00:44:46I found him to be very rational.
00:44:47No, nothing.
00:44:48You're not going to lose the polio vaccine.
00:44:50That's not going to happen.
00:44:53I saw what happened with the polio.
00:44:54I have friends that were very much affected by that.
00:44:59I have friends from many years ago, and they have
00:45:02obviously they're still in not such good shape
00:45:05because of it.
00:45:06You know, that was and many people died.
00:45:08And the moment they took that vaccine, it ended.
00:45:13Dr. Jonas Salk did a great job.
00:45:16So I don't anticipate that at all.
00:45:18But we're going to look into finding why is the
00:45:21autism rate so much higher than it was 20, 25, 30
00:45:23years ago.
00:45:24I mean, it's like it's 100 times higher.
00:45:28There's something wrong.
00:45:29And we're going to try finding that.
00:45:30We're also going to find out why are we paying more
00:45:33than other countries.
00:45:35And we were in the process of doing that through
00:45:37transparency and other things.
00:45:39We were doing a good job in that first term, and we
00:45:41brought it down.
00:45:42We got the $35, all of the different things.
00:45:46We got you know, we were the ones that got all of
00:45:49that done.
00:45:49Every every one of those things.
00:45:51We got them done.
00:45:52I said, you know, I hope I win because otherwise
00:45:54somebody is going to take a lot of credit for what we
00:45:57did.
00:45:57But now what happens is we're going to we're going
00:46:00to have a big conversation on price.
00:46:03Why is it that Germany and UK and other countries are
00:46:07paying so much more for the same box of medicine
00:46:11made in the same plant?
00:46:14Why is it that we're paying many times more?
00:46:17And I know the answer because our government
00:46:19didn't do what they were supposed to do.
00:46:21And what I put in place was terminated unexpectedly
00:46:24by the Biden administration, and they
00:46:26shouldn't have terminated it.
00:46:27It would have had a huge impact.
00:46:28Okay?
00:46:29The Press And Mr. President, one quick
00:46:30question on Ukraine.
00:46:31You mentioned that some of the areas are already
00:46:34decimated.
00:46:35Do you believe that Ukraine should cede
00:46:38territory to Russia?
00:46:39The President Well, I'm going to let you know that
00:46:42after I have my first meeting.
00:46:44But a lot of that territory, when you look at
00:46:47what's happened to those, I mean, there are cities
00:46:49that there's not a building standing.
00:46:52It's a demolition site.
00:46:53There is not a building standing.
00:46:55So people can't go back to those cities.
00:46:57There's nothing there.
00:46:59It's just rubble.
00:47:01Just like when I knocked down a building in
00:47:03Manhattan, which is actually this is worse,
00:47:07actually, because we do it step by step.
00:47:11This thing is just got demolished.
00:47:14And by the way, in those buildings are many people.
00:47:16Many people were in those buildings.
00:47:18You know, when they said the number in Ukraine is
00:47:20going to be a much higher number of death is going
00:47:23to be a much higher number than you're hearing.
00:47:25You know, they're big buildings.
00:47:27That's what I did very well.
00:47:29And these are very long buildings.
00:47:30They're 15 to 20 stories high.
00:47:32They're massive buildings.
00:47:33I was surprised at how big.
00:47:35And they're flattened like a pancake.
00:47:37One or two bombs hit them and they just collapsed.
00:47:41And they'd say nobody was hurt.
00:47:44Well, nobody knows who was in those buildings.
00:47:46There were a lot of people in those buildings.
00:47:48They're going to find that when they start doing the removal.
00:47:52Many more people are being killed in the Ukraine war
00:47:55with Russia than is being reported.
00:47:58And that includes soldiers.
00:47:59The soldiers are being it's a carnage that we
00:48:03haven't seen since the Second World War.
00:48:05It's got to be stopped.
00:48:06And I'm doing I'm doing my best to stop.
00:48:09Yeah, please.
00:48:09Go ahead.
00:48:10You had a meeting with Mrs. Abe yesterday, but
00:48:15Japanese Prime Minister Abe and Japanese Prime
00:48:18Minister Ishiba is hoping to have a meeting anytime soon.
00:48:22I sent him a memento.
00:48:25I sent him a book, the prime minister.
00:48:28But Mrs. Abe was very close with our first lady
00:48:31with Melania, and she loved Melania's book.
00:48:35And she called and wanted to know if she could have.
00:48:37I was very close to the prime minister, Shinzo Abe.
00:48:42He was great.
00:48:43He was a great man.
00:48:45And his wife wanted to know if it would be possible
00:48:48to have dinner.
00:48:49And it was just out of respect to Shinzo.
00:48:51And, yes, I'd love to see the prime minister.
00:48:54And we will do that.
00:48:55I actually sent him a book and some other things
00:48:58for him through through Mrs. Abe.
00:49:01Will that happen before the inauguration day?
00:49:03It could.
00:49:04If they'd like to do that, I would do that.
00:49:06Yeah.
00:49:06I have great I have great respect for the, you know,
00:49:11for the position.
00:49:12And if he'd like to do that, I'd be here.
00:49:14Ambassador Japan will be on George Glass.
00:49:19Is that your final decision?
00:49:21Highly respected man.
00:49:22That's right.
00:49:23Highly respected.
00:49:24He's been an ambassador before.
00:49:27Did a fantastic job.
00:49:28We consider Japan very important.
00:49:30He's very highly respected.
00:49:31Okay, a couple of questions.
00:49:33Which other world leaders have you invited to the inauguration?
00:49:35Which other world leaders have you invited
00:49:37to the inauguration?
00:49:39The world leaders are calling me.
00:49:41And some really would like to meet.
00:49:45No, I mean, literally, they're they're calling me.
00:49:48And I'll be seeing some of them.
00:49:51I think it's rude not to.
00:49:52I mean, it's hard to say I'm not going to see you.
00:49:55And I've spoken to way over 100 where they call
00:49:59to congratulate on the not only the election,
00:50:02but the size of the election, the extent of the victory.
00:50:06And they were great.
00:50:08I mean, I spoke to over 100 countries.
00:50:10You wouldn't believe how many countries there are.
00:50:13And I'm trying the best I can to get back to everybody.
00:50:17But there are a lot of countries.
00:50:19And every one of them, literally everyone called.
00:50:21And it was very nice.
00:50:22So, yeah, I'd see some if some felt it was an emergency.
00:50:26I've seen, as you know, I've seen President Zelensky.
00:50:29He came to France while I was there
00:50:32for the cathedral opening.
00:50:33They actually had about 70 presidents and prime ministers
00:50:37and, in one case, a king.
00:50:41And we saw some great people.
00:50:44I also met with William.
00:50:47And I was very impressed by William.
00:50:50I think William is terrific.
00:50:51I was very impressed by William.
00:50:53As you know, I met with him, too.
00:50:55The Press Did you invite Zelensky
00:51:01to the inauguration?
00:51:03No, but if you'd like to come, I'd like to have him.
00:51:08I mean, I didn't invite him, no.
00:51:10The Press Are you disappointed that China
00:51:14Xi won't be at the inauguration?
00:51:16I don't know that he won't be at the inauguration.
00:51:18I mean, I haven't really spoken to him about it.
00:51:22I don't know that, actually.
00:51:23I would say that if he'd like to come,
00:51:25I'd love to have him.
00:51:27But there's been nothing much discussed.
00:51:30I have had discussions with him, letters, et cetera,
00:51:33et cetera, at a very high level.
00:51:36You know, we had a very good relationship until COVID.
00:51:38COVID didn't end the relationship,
00:51:42but it was a bridge too far for me.
00:51:45But if he'd like to come, I'd certainly be happy.
00:51:49But he hasn't — just so you understand,
00:51:51he hasn't said one way or the other,
00:51:53because a lot of people say he won't come, he will come.
00:51:55People think he will come, he won't come.
00:51:58It's something we barely discussed,
00:52:00just about didn't discuss.
00:52:02But I have had, especially through letters,
00:52:07some very good conversations.
00:52:08The Press Have you had conversations
00:52:09with Venezuela, sir?
00:52:10China and the United States can, together,
00:52:14solve all of the problems of the world,
00:52:18if you think about it.
00:52:19So it's very important.
00:52:20And, you know, he was a friend of mine.
00:52:22I mean, he was here for a long time, right in that spot,
00:52:25except sitting in a very comfortable chair.
00:52:27He wasn't standing like you are.
00:52:29But we spent hours and hours talking.
00:52:33And, you know, he's an amazing guy.
00:52:36Have you spoken to Venezuela?
00:52:38The press hates when I say that, but he's an amazing person.
00:52:41The Press Can I ask you about the UnitedHealthcare shooting?
00:52:45The President Real quick.
00:52:46The Press UnitedHealthcare shooting,
00:52:47the shooting of the CEO.
00:52:48The President I think so.
00:52:49The Press Can you give us your thoughts about that?
00:52:50And what do you make of the reaction
00:52:51around this suspected shooter?
00:52:52The President Well, I think it's terrible.
00:52:53The Press Does that tell you anything
00:52:54about how people think about healthcare?
00:52:55The President Yeah, yeah.
00:52:56I think it's a terrible thing.
00:52:57I think it's really terrible that some people seem to admire him,
00:53:00like him.
00:53:02And I was happy to see that it wasn't specific
00:53:05to this gentleman that was killed.
00:53:07It's just an overall sickness, as opposed to a specific sickness.
00:53:13That was a terrible thing.
00:53:14It was cold-blooded.
00:53:15Just a cold-blooded, horrible killing.
00:53:18And how people can like this guy is —
00:53:22that's a sickness, actually.
00:53:24That's really very bad.
00:53:25Especially the way it was done.
00:53:27It was so bad, right in the back.
00:53:30And very bad, very — a thing like that,
00:53:33you just — you can't believe that some people —
00:53:36and maybe it's fake news.
00:53:38I don't know. It's hard to believe that
00:53:39that can even be thought of.
00:53:40But it seems that there's a certain appetite for him.
00:53:45I don't get it. Yeah, please.
00:53:46The Press I want to expand on the defamation lawsuits.
00:53:50Could you see moving that to other people
00:53:53with individual platforms, social media influencers,
00:53:57people that —
00:53:58The President Or newspapers, yeah.
00:53:59Yeah. Oh, I do. I do.
00:54:01I think you have to do it because they're very dishonest.
00:54:05We need a great media. We need a fair media.
00:54:09We need — it's very important.
00:54:11And we need borders. We need walls.
00:54:13But we need borders, and we need fair elections.
00:54:17You look at California.
00:54:18Millions and millions of ballots were sent out.
00:54:20They're still counting the vote in California with the machines.
00:54:24They're counting the vote.
00:54:25If you had paper ballots,
00:54:26their votes would have been counted four weeks ago,
00:54:28three weeks ago.
00:54:30No, you need fair elections.
00:54:32You need borders, and you need a fair press.
00:54:34And the press is — no, I see others.
00:54:37I have a few others that I'm doing.
00:54:40I'm going to — as an example, we're bringing —
00:54:42I'm doing this not because I want to.
00:54:44I'm doing this because I feel I have an obligation to.
00:54:46I'm going to be bringing one against the people in Iowa,
00:54:51their newspaper, which had a very, very good pollster,
00:54:54who got me right all the time.
00:54:56And then just before the election,
00:54:58she said I was going to lose by three or four points.
00:55:00And it became the biggest story all over the world
00:55:04because I was going to win Iowa by 20 points.
00:55:07The farmers love me, and I love the farmers.
00:55:10And it was interesting the way she did it.
00:55:12She brought it down two weeks before.
00:55:14She said I was going to only win by four.
00:55:16That was a big story. But that was good
00:55:18because she brought it down from like 22 points to four,
00:55:21or whatever the number was.
00:55:23Way up. Way up. An easy win.
00:55:25Never even thought to go there. I respect them. I love them.
00:55:28And they understand there's no reason to go there
00:55:30because she brought it from way up,
00:55:33walk away, which it was.
00:55:35And it turned out to be in the election, too, by the way.
00:55:37It was a win by many, many points.
00:55:40And then she brought it down very smartly to four
00:55:43a couple of weeks before.
00:55:45And everyone said, wow, that's amazing.
00:55:46He's only up by four points.
00:55:48Then she brought it down to where it was down by three
00:55:51or four, whatever number she used.
00:55:53And that was the Des Moines Register.
00:55:57And it was their parent.
00:56:00And in my opinion, it was fraud.
00:56:02And it was election interference.
00:56:04You know, she's gotten me right always.
00:56:05She's a very good pollster. She knows what she was doing.
00:56:08And she then quit before.
00:56:10And we'll probably be filing a major lawsuit
00:56:12against them today or tomorrow.
00:56:14We're filing one on 60 Minutes, you know about that,
00:56:17where they took Kamala's answer,
00:56:19which was a crazy answer, a horrible answer.
00:56:23And they took the whole answer out
00:56:25and they replaced it with something else
00:56:26she said later on in the interview,
00:56:29which wasn't a great answer, but it wasn't like the first one.
00:56:32The first was grossly incompetent.
00:56:34It was weird.
00:56:36And that was fraud and election interference
00:56:38by their news magazine, a big part of CBS News.
00:56:42So, as you know, we're involved in that one.
00:56:44We're involved in one which has been going on for a while
00:56:47and very successfully against Bob Woodward,
00:56:51where he didn't quote me properly from the tapes.
00:56:55And then, on top of everything else, he sold the tapes,
00:56:59which he wasn't allowed to do.
00:57:01He could only use them for reporting purposes,
00:57:03not for sale purposes. And he admits that.
00:57:06And I think we'll be successful on that one.
00:57:08And we have one, very interestingly, on Pulitzer,
00:57:14because reporters at The New York Times,
00:57:16Washington Post got Pulitzer Prizes
00:57:19for their wonderful, accurate,
00:57:21and highly professional reporting
00:57:24on the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax.
00:57:26Well, it turned out to be a hoax,
00:57:28and they were exactly wrong.
00:57:30People, like many people, John Solomon,
00:57:34Sean Hannity is not for Pulitzer,
00:57:35but Sean Hannity got it right. Many people got it right.
00:57:38Tucker got it right. Jesse got it right.
00:57:41Laura got it right. Janine got it right.
00:57:43A lot of people got it right. They didn't get anything.
00:57:46They gave it to reporters that got it absolutely wrong.
00:57:49And now everybody admits it was a hoax.
00:57:52And I want them to get back, take back the Pulitzer Prizes,
00:57:55and pay big damages.
00:57:57And I think we're doing very well on that one.
00:57:59They have no excuse for it.
00:58:00They gave a Pulitzer Prize to writers
00:58:03that got Russia, Russia, Russia wrong.
00:58:06And so, I think we're doing well.
00:58:07And I feel I have to do this.
00:58:09I shouldn't really be the one to do it.
00:58:11It should have been the Justice Department or somebody else.
00:58:15But I have to do it.
00:58:16It costs a lot of money to do it.
00:58:19But we have to straighten out the press.
00:58:22Our press is very corrupt, almost as corrupt as our elections.
00:58:26Are you worried about Venezuela?
00:58:28Sir, have you had any discussions with Venezuela?
00:58:31For January 6th defendants, you had said,
00:58:33in the first few minutes of your administration,
00:58:35you want to issue pardons for January 6th defendants.
00:58:38Does that include — will that be a blanket pardon?
00:58:40Does that include everyone?
00:58:42Well, you'll find out, but it's going to go quickly.
00:58:43And just to follow up on your previous question —
00:58:45Have you had any discussion, sir,
00:58:46with — in terms of your mass deportation plans,
00:58:49have you had any preliminary discussions
00:58:51with countries like Venezuela,
00:58:52from where the Trinidad-Oragua gang
00:58:54is now popping up across the country?
00:58:56They'll take them back.
00:58:57They're going to take them back?
00:58:58They're all taking them back, yep.
00:59:00And if they don't, they'll be met very harshly economically.
00:59:04Okay? They'll all take them back.
00:59:06You know, Venezuela and other countries
00:59:10were not behaving very well with us during my administration,
00:59:14and within 24 hours, they were behaving very well.
00:59:16They'll all take them back.
00:59:18Jeff, nice to see you, Jeff. This is like the old days, right?
00:59:21It's nice to see you too, sir.
00:59:22Actually, you look much better now
00:59:24than you did four years ago. What are you doing?
00:59:26What's he doing? All right, go ahead.
00:59:28Thank you, sir.
00:59:30The first day you just mentioned that you're in office,
00:59:32I imagine you've got some executive orders
00:59:34that you have a lot to go through.
00:59:35Can you tell us what your priorities are?
00:59:36We'll have a lot. Well, I'll bet you could tell —
00:59:39you could say as well as I could.
00:59:41We will have many executive orders
00:59:44and other things that we'll be signing on the first day.
00:59:47And you also — just going back to my initial question
00:59:49about the Middle East, you said that your conversation
00:59:51with Prime Minister Netanyahu was kind of a review.
00:59:55Did you repeat that?
00:59:56We just had a very good conversation.
00:59:59And, you know, the real conversations
01:00:02will start on the 20th.
01:00:05But we had a really good conversation,
01:00:07and I think we're going to be in a good place in the Middle East.
01:00:10I think the Middle East is — will be in a good place.
01:00:13I think, actually, more difficult
01:00:15is going to be the Russia-Ukraine situation.
01:00:17I see that as more difficult.
01:00:20I don't think they should have allowed missiles
01:00:22to be shot 200 miles into Russia.
01:00:25I think that was a bad thing.
01:00:27And that brought the Koreans in, North Korea —
01:00:30another man I get along with very well.
01:00:32I'm the only one that does.
01:00:34But that did a lot of bad things.
01:00:37I don't think that should have been allowed.
01:00:39Not when there's a possibility —
01:00:41and certainly not just weeks before I take over.
01:00:43Why would they do that without asking me what I thought?
01:00:46I wouldn't have had them do that.
01:00:47I think that was a big mistake they made.
01:00:49The Press Will you reverse that decision
01:00:50when you're in office to let those missiles be —
01:00:52I might, yeah.
01:00:53I thought it was a very stupid thing to do.
01:00:55And when you say that —
01:00:56Do you have any reaction to Duterte's clause?
01:00:58— when you say that there will be hell to pay
01:00:59if the hostages are not released before January 20th,
01:01:02what does that mean?
01:01:03Well, they're going to have to determine what that means.
01:01:05But it means it won't be pleasant.
01:01:08The Press Mr. President, even if how was your meeting?
01:01:09It's not going to be pleasant, yeah.
01:01:11How was your meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook?
01:01:14And did you talk about tariffs in that meeting?
01:01:16The meeting with who? Apple CEO Tim Cook.
01:01:19I did have dinner with Tim Cook.
01:01:23I had dinner with sort of almost all of them,
01:01:26and the rest are coming.
01:01:28And this is one of the big differences, I think,
01:01:30between — we were talking about it before.
01:01:33One of the big differences between the first term —
01:01:36in the first term, everybody was fighting me.
01:01:38In this term, everybody wants to be my friend.
01:01:40I don't know. My personality changed or something.
01:01:43But I had — as you know, I had Sundar from Google,
01:01:48but I also had Sergey. Nobody reported that.
01:01:51Sergey is the owner, the primary owner,
01:01:55along with his friend, as you know.
01:01:58And Sergey was here also.
01:02:00I can't believe you didn't pick that one up.
01:02:02Nobody picked that up. But I will tell you.
01:02:04No, it's a big difference. The big difference is that
01:02:08the first time, everybody was fighting me on all fronts.
01:02:12And we had a great administration.
01:02:14We got the biggest tax cuts in history.
01:02:17I rebuilt the military.
01:02:18Too much of it was given away to Afghanistan.
01:02:21It was stupidly given away. Horribly given away.
01:02:24I think that's one of the reasons that Putin
01:02:25went into Ukraine,
01:02:27when he saw the stupidity of a million of these guys.
01:02:30They're stupid people. Very stupid people.
01:02:33If he didn't — if they didn't do such a bad —
01:02:35you know, we were pulling out of Afghanistan,
01:02:37but I would have pulled out with dignity and strength.
01:02:39They wouldn't be having parades, I guarantee you,
01:02:41showing our equipment that they left behind
01:02:43because we weren't going to leave any equipment behind.
01:02:45Not 10 cents.
01:02:47We were going to take every screw and every bolt.
01:02:50So, yeah, the biggest difference
01:02:53is that people want to get along with me this time.
01:02:57Well, they've gone through four years.
01:02:58And, you know, it wasn't easy for me,
01:03:00but it wasn't easy for them either.
01:03:02And that's a great thing, though.
01:03:03Getting along is a great thing.
01:03:04So, Tim Cook was here.
01:03:06I think he's done an incredible job at Apple.
01:03:08And he talked about the future of Apple.
01:03:12It's going to be a bright future.
01:03:15But we have many others also — and not in that business.
01:03:18And we do have Jeff Bezos, Amazon,
01:03:21coming in sometime during the week.
01:03:23I look forward to that.
01:03:25We have a lot of great executives coming in.
01:03:27The top executives, the top bankers, they're all calling.
01:03:30And, honestly, in the first — I don't know what it was.
01:03:33It's like a complete opposite.
01:03:35In the first one — and the press has covered
01:03:37that fairly, actually, for a change.
01:03:40The first one, they were very hostile.
01:03:45And maybe it was my fault, but I don't really think so.
01:03:47They were just very — right from the beginning.
01:03:50And this one is much less hostile.
01:03:53It's really the opposite of hostile.
01:03:54Can I get your reaction on that?
01:03:55Well, you're afraid to give up a shot.
01:03:57I know that you had some, I believe,
01:03:59involvement 18 years ago
01:04:01with the students at Duke accused of rape in lacrosse.
01:04:04Now we have this development.
01:04:06Well, I thought it was a hoax when it happened,
01:04:09the Duke situation.
01:04:11I didn't believe the woman, as you know.
01:04:14And you destroyed —
01:04:16they destroyed the lives of these kids.
01:04:19They destroyed — and I don't care what they got.
01:04:21Their lives have been destroyed.
01:04:22Their lives have been shortened by what took place.
01:04:27And now the woman admitted that it never happened.
01:04:31That is horrible.
01:04:32And as you know, I took a lot of heat
01:04:35when I said that this is — this did not happen.
01:04:40And those kids were beautiful kids with beautiful families.
01:04:43And they were, in some cases, will never be the same.
01:04:46They will never be the same.
01:04:48Have you talked to them by chance?
01:04:50Any thoughts on the Postal Service?
01:04:52You mentioned Bezos a second ago,
01:04:53and I've always thought Bezos would be a key person
01:04:56to go in there and really streamline
01:04:57the logistics of the Post Office.
01:04:59But they lose billions.
01:05:01Well, there is talk about the Postal Service
01:05:03being taken private. You do know that.
01:05:06Not the worst idea I've ever heard. It really isn't.
01:05:09You know, it's a lot different today with —
01:05:12between Amazon and UPS and FedEx
01:05:15and all the things that you didn't have.
01:05:18But there is talk about that.
01:05:19It's an idea that a lot of people have liked for a long time.
01:05:22We're looking at it. I think we're looking at that,
01:05:24along with a lot of other —
01:05:25any questions for Howard, by the way?
01:05:27Commerce.
01:05:28Sure, I'll ask one. Mr. Incoming Secretary,
01:05:31do you see another trade deal with China coming?
01:05:36I think the President —
01:05:37That's a California question.
01:05:39Oh, it's easy for me. You're sitting next to me,
01:05:41so it's okay.
01:05:43The President has a very clear agenda for tariffs.
01:05:46And I think reciprocity is something
01:05:50that is going to be a key topic for us.
01:05:53How you treat us is how you should expect to be treated.
01:05:56Would you like to weigh in, sir, on that?
01:05:57How do you set it so well? Reciprocal.
01:06:00If they tax us, we tax them the same amount.
01:06:03They tax us — forgetting just for a second
01:06:06about the word tariff.
01:06:07They tax us, we tax them.
01:06:10And they tax us almost — in all cases, they're taxing us,
01:06:14and we haven't been taxing them.
01:06:15Is that deal already underway?
01:06:18Is there a deal already underway with respect to that?
01:06:22Let's just say this. We're going to make great deals.
01:06:25And we have all the cards.
01:06:27And until I came along — don't forget —
01:06:30and Howard was going over the numbers with me last night —
01:06:33we took in $600 billion and more in taxes
01:06:38and tariffs from China.
01:06:40No other President took in 10 cents.
01:06:42Not 10 cents. Not 10 cents.
01:06:45And, no, we're going to be doing things.
01:06:48We're going to be treating people very fairly.
01:06:50But the word reciprocal is important
01:06:52because if somebody charges us —
01:06:54India — we don't have to talk about own.
01:06:56If India charges us 100 percent,
01:06:58do we charge them nothing for the same?
01:07:00You know, they send in a bicycle,
01:07:01and we send them a bicycle.
01:07:03They charge us 100 and 200. India charges a lot.
01:07:06Brazil charges a lot.
01:07:08If they want to charge us, that's fine,
01:07:10but we're going to charge them the same thing.
01:07:12That's a big thing. And you know what?
01:07:14The senators — some of them aren't necessarily
01:07:17business people.
01:07:19When I give that to them, they say,
01:07:21that sounds fair to me.
01:07:23The Press. Are you concerned that tariffs
01:07:24might hurt the stock market rise
01:07:26that you have seen in the economy more broadly?
01:07:28Make our country rich.
01:07:30Tariffs will make our country rich.
01:07:33But won't they raise prices? Properly used.
01:07:35They make — no.
01:07:36Well, I didn't have any inflation,
01:07:38and I had massive tariffs on a lot of things.
01:07:41We put tariffs on steel.
01:07:42If I didn't put tariffs on steel —
01:07:4450 percent and more — they were dumping steel in.
01:07:48China and others. I put tariffs on, and it stopped.
01:07:51And we took a fortune. We made a fortune on it.
01:07:54Tariffs. Properly used, which we will do.
01:07:58And being reciprocal with other nations.
01:08:01But it will make our country rich.
01:08:03Our country right now loses to everybody.
01:08:06Almost nobody do we have a surplus with.
01:08:08There are a couple of countries,
01:08:10and they're embarrassed by it. But almost nobody.
01:08:13And tariffs will make — I always said, to me,
01:08:16tariffs — most beautiful word in the dictionary.
01:08:18It will make our country rich.
01:08:20You go back and look at the 1890s, 1880s, McKinley,
01:08:23and you take a look at tariffs.
01:08:25That was when we were at our — proportionately the richest.
01:08:28Go ahead.
01:08:29The Press.
01:08:30The Press.
01:08:32The Press.
01:08:33The Press.
01:08:34What should Zelensky, if anything,
01:08:36be prepared to give up to annexation?
01:08:38He will be prepared to make a deal.
01:08:41That's all. Got to be a deal. No? Got to be a deal.
01:08:44Too many people being killed. That is a war.
01:08:47That's a lot. Too many — we've got to make a deal.
01:08:49And Putin has to make a deal, too.
01:08:51The Press.
01:08:52The Press.
01:08:53The Press. And Putin would have never gone in
01:08:55if I was President. If I was President,
01:08:57we wouldn't have had inflation.
01:08:59Our oil prices would have been lower.
01:09:02I had a good relationship with Putin.
01:09:03He would have — despite the Russia hoax,
01:09:05which made it more difficult — if we had that election.
01:09:12If it were an honorable election,
01:09:14we wouldn't have had any of the problems
01:09:16that we're talking about right now.
01:09:17Putin would have never gone in.
01:09:18Based on — based on your understanding.
01:09:20The Press.
01:09:21The Press.
01:09:22The Press. You said that you could make that deal
01:09:23before you take office.
01:09:25Do you still think you could make that deal?
01:09:26The Press.
01:09:27I'm going to try.
01:09:29Will you ask Putin to give up Assad?
01:09:33Well, I hadn't thought of it.
01:09:36I think we have to get on with our lives.
01:09:38We'll have to see what happens.
01:09:39But right now, Syria has a lot of —
01:09:43you know, there's a lot of indefinites.
01:09:44Nobody knows what's going to happen with Syria.
01:09:46But I think Turkey is going to hold the key to Syria, actually.
01:09:50I don't think you've heard that from anybody else,
01:09:52but I've been pretty good at predicting.
01:09:53I want to thank you all,
01:09:55and we're going to make America great again.
01:09:57Thank you very much.
01:09:59Thank you very much, everybody.
01:10:00Thank you. Thank you.
