At a press conference Thursday afternoon, Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil said the suspected shooter is 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner, an FSU student and the son of a deputy who has been with the department for 18 years. McNeil did not name the deputy but the agency's website shows a deputy named Jessica Ikner.

00:14We're absolutely heartbroken by the violence that occurred on our campus earlier today.
00:20Two have died.
00:22Five other innocents are being treated for their injuries.
00:25We're working to support the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this traumatic event.
00:32The shooter is 20-year-old Phoenix Eichner.
00:40And he's the son of a Leon County Sheriff Deputy.
00:44Unfortunately, her son had access to one of her weapons.
00:50And that was one of the weapons that was found at the scene.
00:55And we are continuing that investigation into how that weapon was used
00:59and what other weapons perhaps he may have had access to.
