00:00And this is to Senator Bennett. Times are not normal right now. How is what you are currently doing changed before January?
00:11Oh, I think it's changed for all of us before January. You know, I wish I could say I was surprised that Donald Trump was elected. I was not surprised that he was elected for the reasons that I was mentioning earlier.
00:26But I think the degree to which these people actually showed up this time with landing parties in these federal agencies is unlike anything that we've ever seen before.
00:37They didn't take the four years off between the last time they were here and this time that they were here.
00:44And I think we are working incredibly hard with our colleagues in the House to make sure that every time something happens, like the firefighters are fired,
00:58that we're bringing those voices to the floor of the Senate or the House, we're voting against their nominees in the legislation that they are bringing forward.
01:08We are about to have a huge fight that this entire country needs to be aware of. It's a bill that cuts taxes for the wealthiest people in America and seeks to pay for it.
01:22$1.5 trillion of cuts, mostly Medicaid, taking health care for the poorest people in our country. We're going to have to have that fight, that public fight. I don't think we're going to be able to win that fight.
01:37But I think in their winning fight, we can turn the political temperature of our country into a very, very positive direction, I think.
