00:00pair of those free tickets. Plus, I head on over to the WRIF studios in Ferndale to talk to Metro
00:07Detroit's number one radio show host, Dave and Chuck the Freak. They say anything, they do
00:13anything, and you're in for a treat this morning because you can join them this weekend. Still
00:19ahead on Local 4 News today, they're Metro Detroit's number one radio show, and they're getting ready
00:24to do something they never even thought they'd do. Coming up next, I head on over to the Riff
00:29studios to hang out with Dave and Chuck the Freak to see what this event is all about. Stay with us.
00:39Nothing, I mean nothing, is sugar-coated. These guys tell it like it is, and their fans, well,
00:45you don't get much more loyal than they do. Support command. But did you ever think Dave and Chuck
00:50the Freak from 101.1 WRIF would be hitting the racetrack? Yeah, that's happening today,
00:57and you can join them. So I went to hang out with the number one radio show this week to see
01:01how they prepared. You're on with Dave and Chuck the Freak. How you doing, Randy? They're weird.
01:06Bromance with Chuck the Freak. Instant. They're bonding over Chuck's ant farms and train collections.
01:13They're wacky. Listen, my son's way cooler than me. Like, way cooler.
01:18And they're ready to race? And I plan on winning this race, so I hope to take down about a thousand
01:27other people. Dave, Chuck the Freak, and Lisa Way own the radio airwaves on 101.1 WRIF. And this
01:35weekend, they're about to own their first marathon, a 5K. I mean, .5K. You heard me, .5K.
01:44I think it's like around the block, so it's not exactly taxing. Maybe for some. Who knows? I don't
01:51want to put that out there. It could be tough, but we think it'll be a fairly quick event. It's really
01:56all about the beer tent, Lauren, if you want me to say that. The number one radio show will be taking
02:01over Wyandotte for this brisk walk, but it's legit. There's an official race sticker, even a gold medal.
02:08You heard me, gold. Is this officially gold, Dave? No. Oh, no, it's not gold, but it looks like gold.
02:15I'll take it. And it's pretty heavy. We're pretty happy with these medals. Their loyal listeners know
02:20this dynamic duo will say anything and do just about anything, but running? Did you ever think
02:26you'd be doing a race? Never in my life, no. I don't have the build, really, for speed. Unless it's
02:34for a good cause. A portion of the proceeds is going to go to Toys for Tots, and we are encouraging
02:39anyone who comes out for the race to bring a new unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots as well. Just kind
02:43of kicking off the holiday season on a fun note. I got some old toys of my own, some Star Wars stuff
02:49that I'm going to bring and donate. So, yeah, if you've got extra toys, go on and bring them and
02:53help some kids out this Christmas. Hundreds have signed up, and there's still time for you to lace up
02:58your sneakers. It's a chance to hang with cool dudes, sip a few brews, and give back. We've always kind of
03:04felt like we're just one of the guys to have for the people that are listening to us. And, you know,
03:10this is just a way to sort of get out there, connect with our fans, have a couple beers with
03:15them, go for a nice leisurely walk in the frigid temperatures. So, it's kind of romantic.
03:22These guys are so fun and so cool, and Dave and Chuck the Freak, their .5K, is later today in
03:28downtown Wyandotte. It starts immediately after the Wyandotte Christmas Parade. So, right around
03:3312.30 is the start of that race. Now, you can still register on-site. It will be held at the
03:39theater lot at Elm in Biddle, again in Wyandotte, and it only costs $10. And keep in mind, a portion
03:46of the proceeds goes to Toys for Tots, and you can also bring an unused, unwrapped toy to donate as
03:53well. So, go down, hang out with Dave and Chuck the Freak, Lisa Way. The whole Riff crew,
03:57they're looking forward to it.
