00:00Tomo will throw it in.
00:02Kennard cuts to the corner.
00:045.4 to go.
00:05Bounce pass.
00:06Morant.
00:06There's a five-second call.
00:08It's a five-second call.
00:10The Grizzlies have turned the ball over.
00:13Wow.
00:14They didn't get the ball in in time.
00:17Now, back to Stiney and Guru on 95.7 The Game.
00:22All right, Warriors.
00:23They make the playoffs with a win last night over the Memphis Grizzlies.
00:28Memphis, three turnovers in the last three and a half minutes.
00:32Man.
00:34And the Warriors avoided their own miscues.
00:39They only had two turnovers in the last three and a half minutes.
00:42One by Pods, one by Jimmy Butler.
00:44And the Warriors ended up winning that game.
00:47121-116 behind Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler.
00:51Combined in for 75 points.
00:53Damn.
00:53And it was another great game, followed by Sunday's great game.
00:58This one, the Warriors, we're on top of.
01:02888-957-9570 is the number.
01:06There's so much to talk about regarding that game.
01:09I'll just open it up to everything.
01:12Because you pick what was the best part of that game.
01:15Was it Butler and Curry?
01:16Was it the fact that the Warriors were able to negate Memphis' size?
01:24It certainly didn't hurt John Morant.
01:26Got hurt.
01:28And sprained his ankle.
01:30But the Warriors did what they had to do.
01:31They, again, this is one of those where I know people might talk about they had a 20-point lead.
01:38But I think you guys know, the way I look at it in the NBA is, that's the reason the Warriors won the game.
01:45Because they had a 20-point lead.
01:48Memphis came all the way back.
01:49They took a lead.
01:50But the Warriors were able to surge and end up winning that game.
01:55So, all-around great effort by the Warriors, particularly their two superstars, Jimmy Butler and Steph Curry.
02:03Man, Stiney, my biggest takeaway, too, is the fact that they only had 10 turnovers.
02:08So, they took care of the ball.
02:10And the ability to get to the free throw line are like timeouts to me.
02:15And Curry did it.
02:16Butler did it.
02:17But I think we often overlook, Stiney, just that break in action that you can have.
02:23And Quentin Post, who saw it, Stiney?
02:2522 minutes, 4-5, had a big, big layup.
02:29And I thought he was a positive in regard to the others.
02:33But you are right.
02:34Bain hit that.
02:35Excuse me.
02:35Jaron Jackson hit the three with about eight minutes left to put him up one.
02:39And what happens?
02:40Jimmy Butler gets fouled, makes the free throws, and we got control or a lead again.
02:45And I just don't see that evaporating as they continue their quest into the playoffs.
02:51Yeah, I mean, I thought Post was great.
02:53I thought he was terrific.
02:55He looked like he belonged.
02:56He's a tough player.
02:57There's no doubt about it.
02:58Five rebounds.
02:59He's got a lot, you know, a lot of room for growth, I think, defensively.
03:03But am I crazy?
03:05Talk to me.
03:06Well, you know my answer, but go ahead.
03:08Hey, Stiney, who would you rather have, Zach Eadie or Quentin Post?
03:11It's not even close.
03:13Give me Post.
03:14Give me Quentin Post.
03:17You know, they had Zach Eadie guarding Jimmy Butler.
03:20Yeah.
03:21Daring him to shoot.
03:22But that was their game plan, Stiney.
03:23And how did it work?
03:25Yeah.
03:26I'm aware.
03:27I mean, Butler danced with him out front and got to the rim at least three times and was able to finish.
03:33But don't they teach you in big man school to keep the ball up?
03:37You're as tall as the Eiffel Tower.
03:39Why are you bringing it down, Zach Eadie, for, you know, for the hyenas to just take it from you?
03:45And it just kept happening.
03:46I mean, that's a TFN, Stiney.
03:49That's what Zach Eadie is.
03:50And Jaron Jackson Jr. ain't far off because he wants to be a guard.
03:53Tall for nothing.
03:55Oh, gotcha.
03:56I mean, that's, you know, that game also, to me, reminiscent of the salad days with the Warriors.
04:02Now, they didn't play Eadie and Jackson off the floor.
04:07But look at their numbers.
04:11They didn't hurt the Warriors.
04:14And I get it.
04:16Zach Eadie got some offensive rebounds.
04:18And he's going to get a lot of rebounds.
04:20But he's four for 11.
04:21What was Jackson?
04:22Six for 15?
04:23Something like that.
04:24And had him four of nine from three.
04:25So half of his shots were three-pointers.
04:28Yeah, exactly.
04:28Yeah, use your size.
04:29But I got to give Memphis credit, Stiney.
04:32They came out in the third quarter and now scored the Warriors 36-27.
04:35But a lot of that was the light went on.
04:38Like, hey, let's use our size.
04:40And it helped him come back.
04:42Let's go to Tom in Sonoma.
04:45Get us started, Tom.
04:45How you doing, my man?
04:48Hey, Stiney.
04:49Hey, Guru, man.
04:50I'm going to tell you, Jimmy, the playoff Jimmy has arrived, my friend.
04:55Wow.
04:56Man, that guy is phenomenal.
04:58I've never seen him up close and, like, watch the whole game of him, man.
05:03It's incredibly great.
05:05I thought the great, you know, I had so much emotion, man.
05:08I was going up.
05:09I was going up and down.
05:10I felt like I was on a damn roller coaster of the whole game, man.
05:14You know, just emotion.
05:15So much emotion in that game.
05:19There's one sad scenario I want to talk about, and nobody's talking about it.
05:22And I don't want to put a downer on it, but JK thing is starting to bother me, guys.
05:29You know, another DNP.
05:33There's something going on, man.
05:35I mean, you know, I mean, a lot of people say that Kerr don't like Kaminga, but there's something going on.
05:42Either he doesn't respect him or he doesn't like him.
05:47But he gets treated so differently.
05:51And, man, he's 22 years old.
05:53His ego is already fragile, man.
05:56And, you know, this is affecting him.
05:59Kerr has to mold this guy.
06:02I hope they bring him back in Houston because we're going to need him.
06:05Jalen Green, he played with him, man.
06:08He works out with this guy.
06:11He knows this guy.
06:12I hope we play.
06:13We need JK, man.
06:15And I hope he hasn't given up because that's the other scenario of the problem here, man, is that, you know, he's a young kid.
06:24You know, and two games sitting on the sideline, man.
06:27That's going to tear my ego up.
06:29I'm going to tell you, man.
06:30Well, you know, so go Warriors.
06:33Yeah.
06:33Tear them up next down.
06:35But, man, come on.
06:37We got it.
06:37Please, let's settle this issue and play together and get some JK time, man.
06:44All right.
06:45Thanks, Tom.
06:45Appreciate the call.
06:46Look, I'm looking at Draymond Green last night, and he looks pretty tired.
06:53And to my way of thinking, the reason that was a big win last night was because the Warrior Big Boys could really use four days off.
07:02No doubt about it.
07:03But you know who else can use four days off is Jonathan Kaminga.
07:06He's going to play against Houston.
07:08Well, he's had a week.
07:12I mean, I mean, you know, now he can go to practice today and tomorrow.
07:18Well, they probably won't practice today, but they'll probably practice Thursday, Friday.
07:21They'll practice Saturday and fly to Houston.
07:25What I'm saying is, it's actually the time for Kaminga in the next three days to kind of regroup.
07:33And again, I find it impossible to believe that on a night like last night where they had two scores and no other starter in double figures.
07:46But Kaminga's going to have to play against Houston.
07:50Like, that's the way I look at it.
07:51They have too many bodies, and the Warriors, they need another player.
07:57And Kaminga's going to get a crack at it.
08:00Yeah.
08:00Well, we were here together.
08:01And he's probably going to get a crack at it early in the series.
08:03Okay.
08:03And, Stiney, I'm just telling you, I'm exhausted on wondering what's going on.
08:08Was I surprised again?
08:10Yes.
08:10But not as much as the previous game against the Clippers.
08:13And when Willard and Dibbs were with us, I think we all agreed, you know what, that won't duplicate itself.
08:19We won't see a repeat of him not playing.
08:21Especially, Stiney, when I feel like the Warriors, and Memphis doesn't have the biggest guards, but they do have a problem keeping big guards out to paint.
08:28And Houston has that.
08:29But I'll say this to kind of just keep myself at peace.
08:34Am I really going to go against a decision of one Steve Kerr, and I don't think he's by himself.
08:40So if they see and have come to the realization or understanding that Jonathan Kaminga, we're better without him playing, so be it until we see him again, Stiney.
08:51But for you to say and put the little mustard on it like you did, you think you're going to see him, I'm so shocked that we haven't seen him.
09:00I'm not so sure you're right.
09:03Yeah.
09:03Yeah.
09:04But they won the game, and they're in the playoffs.
09:07Exactly.
09:08Exactly.
09:08And we'll find out.
09:10Man, what could have happened?
09:11I'm not necessarily sure anything, quote unquote, happened.
09:17And I saw you on KTVU with Sal this morning.
09:20You did a great job.
09:21And it's not just us trying to be messy.
09:24Sal even asked you about the rat on the table.
09:27Well, he was out of questions.
09:28He was out of questions after two.
09:30Hey, Sal, you were great, buddy.
09:31I mean, listen, every second-rate journalist in the Bay runs out of questions with the Warriors after two.
09:39And then they go, hey, what's going on with Kaminga?
09:43Come on, Sal.
09:44His opener was a little more inquisitive than I was expecting.
09:50He says, what about those role players, Stiney?
09:52They stunk, huh?
09:53That's when he comes out and he goes, you know, Steph and Jimmy with 75, is that really sustainable?
09:59Like, Sal.
10:00Oh, man.
10:01They just made the playoffs.
10:02Yeah, that they did.
10:03All right.
10:04Let's go to K in San Francisco.
10:09Hey, K, how you doing?
10:13Pretty good.
10:14How are you folks?
10:15Hey, hey, playoffs, baby.
10:20All right.
10:21I'm out.
10:22Yeah, I am too.
10:23K.
10:23K is for strikeout.
10:25He's struck out.
10:26K, that's a five-second violation.
10:28Dude, I couldn't believe it ended like that, Stiney.
10:31I know you're going to disagree.
10:32No, go ahead.
10:33I thought it was a little quick, but.
10:35You saw they put the timer to it.
10:37It was actually six.
10:38It got to six.
10:39Yeah, but you know what happens is they go one as soon as he touches the ball.
10:44And it's like, no, that's not one.
10:46Hand him the ball.
10:48Wait a second.
10:49Then that's one.
10:51But where was the urgency from the Memphis guys?
10:54Come to the ball.
10:56You're right.
10:56This is it.
10:57Michael Jackson.
10:59Come to the rock.
11:00I thought it was a little quick, but who cares?
11:02They couldn't get the ball inbounds.
11:03I mean, quietly, a lot of victories yesterday for Goo and I, but that one, Goo about, they're
11:09just not very smart.
11:11Came back to bite them.
11:12What if I told you I want to return that congrats on that?
11:16Because Memphis shocked me.
11:17When they were down, I tweeted the Vine, this is over, and oh boy, Mr. Steinmetz goes,
11:22Goo, it's not over yet.
11:24And they came back, and I got to give them credit for that, and took a damn lead.
11:30By one point.
11:31Yeah, that they did.
11:33They never got two possessions.
11:34But that Jimmy turnover, I was like, oh my gosh.
11:37When he drove, Stein, he kicked it back out and threw it to Memphis.
11:41And the pods fouled.
11:42It wasn't a foul, but we won't do that today.
11:45Yeah, I looked up the rule.
11:48Wrist is a foul, if it affects the shooting motion.
11:51Even if you get the ball first.
11:52Yes.
11:53Hands part of the ball.
11:55Wrist, not.
11:56Wrist.
11:57Wrist.
11:58All right.
12:00I kind of dig that expert.
12:01The wrist, Evan.
12:02Not the hand.
12:03The wrist.
12:04Just to get it out of the way.
12:08It's an ambiguous rule.
12:10Just to get it out of the way, because I'm going to get a lot of people involved.
12:15I thought it was a little quick five second.
12:18Jaron Jackson Jr. gets pulled down.
12:20He got a turnover.
12:21He did.
12:21With three and a half left.
12:23That happened.
12:24Let's not forget about the one where, I can't remember the exact play, but Butler gets fouled.
12:29He goes to the line.
12:30He looks to the bench and he rolls his eyes.
12:33Oh, that was on Pippen.
12:34Exactly.
12:35He didn't get touched.
12:37Butler even was laughing about it.
12:40Yeah.
12:40He got one up on him.
12:41And then, this is not me.
12:42Okay.
12:43This is not even me.
12:44You sound like me.
12:44First thing, Evan comes in today, he goes, man, Curry walked on that three.
12:49Oh, yeah.
12:50No call.
12:51They don't call it.
12:52And the traveling is, come on.
12:54NBA.
12:55Both teams.
12:56Curry was incredible.
12:58Both teams.
12:59So is his footwork.
12:59Were victims of the officials or beneficiaries of the officials.
13:03All right.
13:04Let's get into it.
13:05What do we got here?
13:06Nick in Berkeley's got an I told you so, apparently.
13:09Uh-oh.
13:10What's going on, Nick in Berkeley?
13:11This is the show.
13:14People were doubting Jay Bugsy, formerly known as Jimmy Buckets, because he was a straight
13:19gangster last night.
13:20And let me tell you something, man.
13:22I said it last week.
13:23He was like a rattlesnake waiting to pop out the knees and bite you on the ankle.
13:27And I said, get Post in there and get Draymond in there.
13:30And, of course, Steph.
13:31But, man, Moody was very impressive last night.
13:35The team was scrambling.
13:36The energy was way better.
13:38And let me tell you something.
13:39I don't know what you guys are talking about traveling on the Warriors, because the Grizzlies
13:43were playing hopscotch last night in about five or six plays.
13:46I don't know what they were doing.
13:48Well, they're very young.
13:50They're playing straight hopscotch, man.
13:51They're sportswear, whatever.
13:52That's a young team, and they're quick.
13:55And Edie got away with the travel, though.
13:57Yeah.
13:58Edie got away.
13:58Edie's gotten away with being a pro.
14:03He was playing skips in my lube last night.
14:06But Post was the most last night, dude.
14:08He was in there scrapping.
14:09He was knocking dudes to the floor.
14:10And that is what I'm talking about, dude.
14:12Yeah, no doubt.
14:13You've got to just enter the Steinme school of simplicity and just be like, man, you've
14:18got to rebound, get some steals, do not turn it over, throw a ghost pass into the stands,
14:23and just bully the other team.
14:26We was bullying him at times, man.
14:27I loved you, man.
14:28Thanks, Nick.
14:29Appreciate the call.
14:30We haven't mentioned Gary Payton in a second, either.
14:32He was very good last night.
14:33Man, 12 points, Donnie.
14:34And that was a bounce-back game from him Sunday.
14:37I don't think he had his best game, but he was big.
14:40Big blog on Edie.
14:41How does that happen?
14:44He's giving up a foot and a half.
14:47He's so bad.
14:49And Edie looks like he's just a victim, like the world's done him wrong.
14:53It's like, dude, man up.
14:55You're eight foot.
14:57I'm going to be nice to him today.
14:59Boy.
15:00I'm going to be nice to him.
15:02Why not?
15:03Because you just.
15:04They're going nowhere.
15:05Well, I don't know.
15:08If that ankle is okay for Ja, I like him against Sacramento.
15:11How about OKC?
15:12Do you like him against OKC?
15:13You didn't say that.
15:15Well, I mean.
15:17You know.
15:18It's like Howard Beck said yesterday.
15:21We had Howard Beck on.
15:22Remember?
15:22He goes, Dallas, Sacramento.
15:26They're not going anywhere.
15:27Neither Memphis.
15:28They're not going anywhere.
15:30I'm sick and tired of watching these games.
15:33Atlanta, Orlando was a.
15:36I thought the Hawks were for real.
15:38They were down, too.
15:40And I just texted Atlanta's back.
15:42And then you come over the top 20 minutes later after they're down 20.
15:46Hey, goo, what happened?
15:47I don't know.
15:48Hawks playing chess.
15:50Go ahead.
15:51Why?
15:52Because.
15:53Tell me.
15:54The winner of that game has the right to be swept by the Celtics.
15:57Yeah.
15:58The team you'd rather play would be Cleveland.
16:00Please.
16:00Yeah, I'll give you that E.
16:01Please.
16:02I'm feeling that.
16:03Please look.
16:04It doesn't matter.
16:05They're going nowhere against either of those teams.
16:09Let's see.
16:10What do we got here?
16:10We got George and Los Altos.
16:13Hey, George.
16:13How you doing, my man?
16:16I'm doing good, fellas.
16:18I was just listening to what you guys were talking about earlier with the thing with Minga.
16:22And, you know, they're going to have to play him in this series.
16:28I think there's not going to be any choice but to play him because as great as our big three guys are, they're all in their 30s, man.
16:37And, you know, you're going to have to give them a break.
16:39And the problem is, Minga, Jonathan is a 22-year-old wannabe Jimmy Butler where he is hopefully will develop anywhere close to Jimmy.
16:53He's a slasher.
16:54He's got width.
16:56He's athletic.
16:57But what he doesn't do that Jimmy does is he doesn't facilitate the ball and he doesn't play defense like Jimmy does.
17:05And this is the problem.
17:07This is the problem with him.
17:08If you knew you could put him in, and even if he's not going to score that night or whatever, at least he's going to shut somebody down.
17:16And he doesn't have that side of his game yet.
17:19And there's the challenge.
17:21You lose a lot on the defensive side with him, you know.
17:24I hope we figure out a way to use him because we do need him in a seven-game series to give our boys a break.
17:31That's all I got.
17:32Yeah, I kind of agree with you.
17:34And I wasn't sure about Kaminga, but after watching the Warriors in the last week, and they've done some good things, and they've lost some games.
17:42And Draymond specifically, he's putting it all out there, man.
17:45And it doesn't get easier with Adams and Shingun.
17:48Yeah, I think, you know, Kaminga's going to get a crack at it, and we'll see.
17:53We'll see.
17:55I'm rooting for him, Stony.
17:56I do think that, you know, Kerr's getting a little tired of all the questions about Kaminga.
18:01Speaking of which, Steve Kerr, 5 o'clock with Willard and Dips.
18:05Oh, he'll be in a good mood.
18:06Great win last night, Steve.
18:08Why didn't you play Kaminga?
18:09He deserved it.
18:12Let's go to Bobby and Los Altos.
18:15Our guy.
18:16Oh, no.
18:18He said he was thinking of me last night.
18:20Oh, boy.
18:21I don't want to get happy.
18:22Poor Bobby.
18:22Bobby, yeah.
18:23Come on, Bobby, man.
18:26What's up, Bobby?
18:27Oh, man.
18:28What's going on?
18:29Hey, guys.
18:29Hey, Joe.
18:30Yo, first of all, George and Los Altos, let's meet up at that Mickey D's on El Monte and have
18:35some good talk.
18:36Hey, so, Stony, the reason I was thinking about you is that yesterday I felt like you were throwing
18:41a lot of shade at Pazimski and Moody, specifically Pazimski.
18:47You know, he's an okay player.
18:49I mean, it's like very average.
18:50I thought he had a lot of hustle plays yesterday.
18:53He had a very athletic block, and I don't know how you can have a foul on a wrist when
18:58there's no ball attached to a wrist, but whatever.
19:00What can you do?
19:01They've already burned their challenge.
19:03And then Moody, he had like nine-foot-long wingspan yesterday.
19:08I thought he played very good defense.
19:09And then he definitely had the slam of the game.
19:13Oh, yeah.
19:13Like, he only had three slams in like two months.
19:16I think he had two yesterday.
19:18So, I feel like every player that came off the bench impacted the game almost immediately.
19:25As soon as DeSantos came in, right?
19:27He had a hustle play.
19:28And, you know, Quinton Post, as soon as he came in, he knocked down a three.
19:31He did something.
19:32And Gary Payton, of course, was just great.
19:35So, I felt like it was a very good team win, and I really appreciated how every bench member,
19:40as soon as they came out, contributed.
19:42You know, honestly, Buddy Hill disappointed me.
19:44But, aside from that, you know, I thought it was great.
19:48I thought he was.
19:49He was 0-3 from deep.
19:51Buddy took John Morant out of the game, literally.
19:54Oh, yeah.
19:55I don't.
19:55Yeah, we don't do that on this show.
19:57We just did.
19:57Yeah, I don't like that.
19:58He shut down John Morant for four minutes.
20:02Literally took him out of the game.
20:04Yeah.
20:06You know what?
20:07Bobby brings up a good point.
20:08The bench guys didn't score a lot.
20:10Yeah, and they're going to need it.
20:11For the most part.
20:11But, you know, he's right.
20:13I was not saying Pods is an average player yesterday.
20:16We were talking strictly about his IQ.
20:19Yeah.
20:20Well.
20:21IQ.
20:22Yesterday, he's probably below average.
20:26But.
20:27Yeah.
20:28But they won.
20:29Yeah.
20:30Let's go to Robert in Sacramento.
20:34Hey, Robert.
20:35How you doing?
20:37Hey, guys.
20:38How you guys doing?
20:39Hey, great game.
20:40So, look, I'm a man of my word.
20:41I said that they would win by 12.
20:44So.
20:44Oh, that's right.
20:45We get.
20:45I get.
20:46Yeah.
20:47We get offline.
20:48You guys can get my number and text me because I know you guys will probably do a show off
20:52site or something, you know, when they when they come home.
20:54Yeah.
20:54But definitely want to come out, you know, introduce myself and get you guys a drink.
20:59And yeah, I love you guys.
21:00It's Andrew Jean, your show.
21:01I love the game yesterday.
21:02I think that the way that they played was a really good game plan.
21:06I love everybody.
21:07Like you said, everybody was hustling and getting on the floor.
21:10I was telling my son last night, like when I saw big post get on the floor, that's what
21:14they need, you know?
21:15And just I just love the game.
21:17And I still believe with the rest that we're going to get and the two get two days off
21:21between one, two and three.
21:23Yeah.
21:23We're going to beat Houston in five or six.
21:25And that's you can you can lock that down, too.
21:27All right.
21:28Well, hey, you guys you guys have a best day.
21:30They got they got my number.
21:32They should.
21:32And you guys let me know and I'll come out.
21:34Thank you very much.
21:36We'll see.
21:37If I was going to ask you, how did Memphis get back in that game?
21:39How would you answer that, Stonnie?
21:45I would answer it with.
21:49Because it kind of just happened.
21:51I don't like normally I'm like, this happened.
21:53You know why?
21:54Because they're they're pretty good and the Warriors aren't that much better than them.
21:58And the Warriors made a lot of shots.
22:02They met a lot of guys last night.
22:04But they they were the Warriors were on fire when they got up 20.
