00:00Mr. Doyen of the group of the Latin American Caribbean States and the Russian Federation,
00:11Your Excellency, Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends.
00:15This year we'll be marking anniversary dates in the history of diplomatic relations of Russia
00:20and an entire range of countries of Latin America.
00:24140 years with Argentina, 135 years with Mexico, 90 years with Colombia, 80 with Bolivia, Venezuela, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic and Ecuador
00:38and 35 years with Honduras and also the 65th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations with Cuba.
00:51This is why today here at the Smolensk place we organized this exhibition.
01:02I'd like to express my gratitude to the Latin American History Department of our foreign ministry.
01:14I'd like to thank the artists that were involved in developing the ties between our two countries
01:22and thank you for the highly creative, productive work to organize today's event.
01:31At the exhibition we have not only unique, authentic photographs and documents reporting on the many years of our diplomatic relations with Latin America,
01:42but also various exhibits that illustrate the uniqueness of the Latin American continent.
01:52The history of our relations goes back to the history of the designs of the Russian Empire.
02:00Many years have passed since then, but we are happy to say that despite the many dramatic changes in our countries and in Latin America,
02:10we have been able to ensure stable development with our partners of the region.
02:17Thanks to the collaboration and joint work with many of them are exhibited here today.
02:29We have always helped Latin America maintain and preserve their sovereignty, their cultural uniqueness,
02:42and during the fight for the independence of former Spanish colonies, Russia remained not involved.
02:53And today we always stood for self-determination.
03:02And today we continue to preserve, maintain the importance of this principle in the new multipolar world.
03:10We're united by a principle of fighting towards a democratization of international relations, international system.
03:20We maintain the critical importance of the UN Charter, which enshrines the principle of equality of all states.
03:28This year we'll be marking 80-year anniversary of the victory in World War II
03:33and the 80-year anniversary of the creation of the United Nations Organization.
03:39This exhibit contains an entire stand, entire exhibit that's dedicated to the contribution of the Latin American countries to the fight against Nazism.
03:52For example, the Brazil court that fought the Nazis or the Aztec Eagles that in 1945,
04:04fought in the Pacific theater against Japan, the people of many of the Latin American countries took part in the solidarity movement with the Soviet Union and contributed a lot.
04:21And I'd like to use this opportunity to once again express my gratitude to all Latin American friends for their solidarity in multiple international forums and platforms,
04:34where we support our initiative to prevent falsification of history to maintain the principle of non-glarification of Nazism and our opposition to reviewing and reshaping the results of World War II.
04:54Our relations with all of your countries are based on mutual respect and we are willing to expand the scope of our cooperation and partnership in technology, science, humanitarian, political and other areas, including sports.
05:17One of the main factors of our success is, of course, our friendship, long-standing trust and sympathy for each other.
05:29And thank you so much and enjoy this exhibition.
