00:00Well, Vladimir Putin says that Russia is open to direct peace talks with Ukraine without any
00:05preconditions. That is the message he conveyed to Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff,
00:10who was back in Moscow again this week for just the latest round of talks at the Kremlin.
00:16During Friday's conversation with Trump's envoy, Witkoff, Vladimir Putin repeated that the Russian
00:22side is ready to resume the negotiation process with Ukraine without any preconditions.
00:27It is pretty much as high level as it gets. The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, pledging that
00:31Moscow is ready to get behind this negotiating table. No preconditions, no fine print, no demand.
00:38But this doesn't mean that the talks will necessarily begin, say, tomorrow or in the
00:42near future, because the Ukrainian position has been a bit different. They do have their conditions.
00:47They do have their demands. I mean, from the very start of the conflict back in 2022,
00:52Zelensky signed pretty much a decree that banned everyone in Ukraine from engaging in any sort
00:57of talks with Russia. Later, he backtracked and revealed that apparently that meant everybody
01:03else but himself. But still, it's unclear how that is supposed to work, given that normally
01:08it's a delegation of officials that are engaged in conversations and in talks and not just one
01:14one. Well, one person who Zelensky says, because right now it's just Zelensky who can do that.
01:20And after all, now, given all their missions and all their delegations sent to talk to the
01:25Americans, they wanted to talk first about a ceasefire, about a 30-day truce or something.
01:32And only then they say they are ready to just think about, well, engaging in peace talks with
01:39Russia. And this is a condition that the Ukrainian side has repeated, well, quite a few number of times.
01:45If the Russians are ready for a complete ceasefire, after a complete ceasefire, with an understanding
01:53of the duration, we are ready for any format of negotiations with them. Any format.
02:03Ukraine does not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There is nothing to talk about.
02:09It is outside our constitution. This is our territory, the territory of the people of Ukraine.
02:17We cannot just say, why not? This will not happen.
02:22The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, he did pledge unconditional support for negotiations with
02:29Kiev. And it happened during his Friday's meeting with Donald Trump's special envoy,
02:33Steve Witkoff, who visited Moscow. And while both sides did, well, share a positive view of how that
02:41meeting went, it was mired by the assassination of a top Russian general. Basically, a vehicle
02:47exploded. It was a car bombing attack just outside his home, apparently. And he was killed in that
02:53attack. Now, the Russian Federal Security Service, they have already detained the suspect who has
02:59confessed to while carrying out this bombing. He apparently he has a residential permit in Ukraine.
03:05He was recruited in Ukraine back in 2023. Same year, he traveled to Russia, purchased a secondhand
03:12Volkswagen, and he then obtained explosives from a hidden stash that was organized somewhere in Russia,
03:20apparently dug into the ground by the Ukrainian, by other Ukrainian agents. And so he basically,
03:26he parked that vehicle outside the home of that top general and tried to flee. As according to him,
03:32the explosives were set off on the Ukrainian side by you, by the Ukrainian, by the Ukrainian
03:38intelligence. So, so far, investigators, they are surely working with him trying to uncover any
03:44potential, well, networks of agents of the Ukrainian intelligence that might exist on the Russian
03:50territory. In the meantime, the fighting is still ongoing. And one of probably the biggest
03:54developments is that the Kursk region has officially been fully liberated. What are you hearing about
04:00the latest from the ground? Well, indeed, it's been almost nine months since the beginning of the
04:06Ukrainian gambit in the Russian Kursk region. And well, that failed spectacularly. I mean, they have
04:12lost 76, more than 76,000 soldiers in that operation, according to Russia's chief of staff,
04:20Valeriy Gerasimov, who reported to Vladimir Putin that, well, the Russian armed forces, they have
04:26finished the liberation of the Kursk region. The last stronghold, the village of Garnal, has been
04:31liberated. And footage emerged online of the Russian army, of the Russian soldiers waving Russian flags
04:37in that village. Now, according to Gerasimov, also a very big revelation that North Korean troops
04:45played a major part in helping the Russian army to liberate the Kursk region. It is the first time
04:52that the Russian officials publicly acknowledged that the North Korean troops took part and that they
04:59fought shoulder to shoulder with the Russian armed forces in the Kursk region. And according to Gerasimov,
05:06they did so valiantly. The defeat of the armed formations of the Ukrainian armed forces that
05:14invaded the Kursk region has been completed. The plans of the Kiev regime to create a so-called
05:20strategic bridgehead and disrupt our advance in the Donbass have failed. At the initial stage of
05:26the operation, the enemy's advance deep into our territory was halted, with a subsequent reduction
05:31in the area of encroachment. Ukrainian units were forced to go on the defensive.
05:37I would like to mention separately the participation in the liberation of the border areas of the Kursk
05:42region, the military personnel of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which, in accordance
05:48with the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between our countries, provided significant
05:53assistance in defeating the Ukrainian entrenched armed groups.
05:57Now, the Russian army has taken the fight to the Sumy region of Ukraine, which is adjacent to the
06:02Kursk region of Russia. There they are creating something of a buffer zone just for safety. And
06:08four villages, according to Valery Gerasimov, have also been taken under the control by the Russian
06:14army. So right now, Russia is very active on two major fronts. One is here on the ground. It is the sort
06:20of the militaristic front. And Russia has some success here. I mean, even here in the Donetsk Republic,
06:26the Russian troops, they have less than two kilometers to cross to get to the border between
06:31the Donetsk region and the Dnepropetrovsk region of Ukraine. At the same time, the Russians are also
06:36very active on the diplomatic front. And there, the message has been very different. There, the message
06:41have been that, well, we don't have to resort to more violence to solve this conflict. Again, Russia has
06:48pledged, Vladimir Putin has pledged unconditional support to, again, unconditional beginning of talks
06:55between Russia and Ukraine. So Russia and Moscow is ready to solve this behind the table and not
07:02with bullets with bullets flying.
